A sexy category romance novella from Entangled's Brazen imprint...
She was off-limits...until now.
Vegas was a bad idea. There's no real good reason for a Marine to be stranded in the desert...and yet here I am. Hungover as hell, bruised, and bloodied. The tequila was just another mistake in a long line of mistakes. So naturally she had to be the one to come and save my sorry ass. The girl who broke my heart. My ex-best pal's little sister...
And dammit, I still want Erica Jones as much as I did all those years ago. Tried to tell her I loved her then, and she ran. Now I just need to touch that smooth-as-silk skin, worshipping the curves of her body. But she and I? We always see through each other, and something's changed. And despite how screwed up we are, this time I'm going to prove myself to her...to hell with the consequences.
Previously released on the Ever After imprint in May 2012.

Yes....I downloaded this book because of the extremely hot guy on the cover...I mean, who wouldn't want to look at that!!!...and with a title like 'Try Me' How could I resist?! I never did have much will power!!!
I have never read this author before and at the time there were no reviews, so I had nothing to go on....except the hot guy on the cover!! and when people say don't judge a book by it's cover, in this case it's a LIE.
This book was lovely, a weak word you may say to describe a book but no, not in this case, I was enchanted by the two characters and desperate for everything to work out for them. When I had finished there was a huge grin on my face and a overwhelming feeling of contentment....just LOVELY:D
Jeremy was rejected and shunned by the only two friend's he ever had and the only two people that accepted him for what he was, despite his background, all because of a malicious lie and misunderstanding on their part.
Seven years later.....by a twist of fate he ends up being on the same road at the same time as Erica. He is battered, bruised and seriously dehydrated and she is a vision of beauty, returned from the past to haunt him.
Jeremy (as the cover portrays) is one hot bad ass Marine just back from a tour of Afghanistan. He has no image of self worth and feels below Erica both socially and intellectually.....but he still loves her. He feels she will reject him again....but he still wants her. For him there has never been anyone else.
Erica despite Jeremy's confession that he still loves her and despite the fact that she has never stopped loving him....She keeps pushing him away. She is hiding something from her past which has so badly damaged her confidence she is unwilling to let anyone into her heart.
There is great chemistry between these two characters, and a lot of teasing humor and sarcasm as they slip into the comfort and knowledge of their shared past.
This is a story of a Love that transcends the test of time.
Will I read more from this author.....most definitely.
This was just a sweet and short friends to lovers story – a story of a love that stands the test of time.
Jeremy, a Marine, is on R&R in Vegas, gets into a fight with some navy guys and find himself bruised and battered on a roadside. A driver stops to help and it’s none other than Erica, his ex-best friend’s sister and the only woman he has ever loved. He declared his love to her several years earlier only to have her literally run away.
She picks him up and takes him back to her house. It’s obvious that they’re still deeply attracted to one another but she’s holding back, keeping secrets. I’m not going to reveal Erica’s secret but the story is funny with lots of banter between them and deeply romantic. I loved it. And there's a very satisfying epilogue.
Great, terrific, wonderful, lovely, thoughtful, heart-felt and just so good.
"Love isn't about perfection or beauty. It's not about how good you look in a bikini, or how perfect your skin is. Love is about...about..." He fumbled for words. "About needing that certain someone in your life-that someone who makes you feel whole. It's helping the person you love when they need a hand to stand straight. Love is never giving up on a the person you care about."
If that's not the most romantic thing I've ever read. *sigh*
This book is beautifully written and it was a pleasure to read. Loved it!
First off, let me just note that YOWZA, 'Try Me' has one hell of a hawt cover and Diane Alberts is one lucky lady to have her name so deliciously displayed on such a fine set of abs! OK, now that that's done - onto the story...
Although this was a somewhat cute story, I found that it didn't have much substance to it and the dialogue and "flirty" banter came across as stilted. Erica and Jeremy were both likable enough, yet we weren't given enough info to really substantiate who they were. We know that they were childhood friends although they come from much different socio-economic backgrounds, but the circumstances of how they became friends, and then lost that friendship, is too sparsely revealed IMO. They're subsequent re-acquaintance is conveniently contrived, but once you get past such an unlikely scenario there is a quick yet sweet story there and the epilogue goes a long way to cement this second-chance-at-love romance.
I’m not going to play innocent here—it was the cover! It lured me right in to this story with a grin on my face and a sparkle in my eye. Drool, drool! :) But Try Me by Diane Alberts proved to be much more than a hot cover.
On leave in Vegas, Jeremy ends up in the middle of the desert, beat up and alone when fate steps in. The last person he expected to pull over and help him was his first and only love, Erica. The woman who held his heart since childhood, but crushed him years before. Through the years and hurt though, Jeremy never stopped loving her. Could this be their second chance? But Erica has her defenses up, hiding painful secrets that continue to force her heart to push Jeremy away. Can these two finally overcome hurt feelings, pain, and insecurities to find love?
Jeremy stole my heart! No lie--the man is deliciously sexy and sweet! He’s a big, handsome, tattooed, tough Marine outside with an adorable tenderness underneath. It will never cease to amaze me how a short story can capture my heart and imagination with such force. Ms. Alberts had my heart swooning, melting and aching from the jump! Jeremy’s insecurities and belief that Erica deserved a prince rather than a Marine broke my heart at times. His sweetness simply stole the show for me.
”I remember everything you’ve ever told me, he said, his voice rough, each word nearly caressing her. I couldn’t forget if I tried.”
Plus the man was HOT! Did I say that already? ;)
”She wanted to lick, to taste, to chase the cool taste of fresh water over the heat of his skin.”
Same here, girl! I would drink that tall glass of water over and over again! :D
With cute banter, hot tension, and follow your heart perseverance, Jeremy and Erica will inspire readers to continue searching and fighting for love!

SUMMARY (50 words or less)
Short but good solid read. After reading you may think that this should have been predicable and maybe a bit sappy, but it wasn’t those things. You’ll really be left satisfied with a happily ever after and wanting more. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Very nicely done! A complete story, only 105 pages and not a word was wasted!! The epilogue was just lovely and one that I wish more military families could experience! Filled you with hope, left me smiling!
It would be nice if the series continued with a story for Tommy and peek back into Jeremy and Erica's lives, wishful thinking!
Aww, this story was so sweet! This wasn't a very long story, only seven chapters and an epilogue but I thought it was lovely!
Jeremy has awakened alone in the desert, dehydrated and beaten. His last memory was getting into a brawl and then nursing the pain from the wounds with Johnny Walker. Walking along the highway a car suddenly stops to help and who steps out but Erica, Jeremy's childhood crush, who broke his heart seven years ago. She was the little sister of his ex-best friend and when he told her he loved her, she ran away. He hasn't been back or seen her since.
Erica can't believe its Jeremy she's picked up from the side of the road. She's regretted her reaction to his proclamation for seven years. Erica's changed now and certain if he knew her secret he wouldn't be repeating those lovely words.
I just love this type of story. Two friends so close at one time but then separated by misunderstandings, only to come together again. You could tell from this story these two shared so many things through the years and knew each other so well. Jeremy remembers so many meaningless details of Erica, just because it was her. Anything about her was important to him. Erica has missed the closeness they had growing up but she's hesitant because she doesn't want to get hurt. Like I said in the outset, this story was short, but in my opinion it was perfect, right down to the very sweet epilogue!
What an adorable, sweet short story!! It has some steam, some "awww" moments, and an heart warming epilogue.
"Love isn't about perfection or beauty....[Its] about needing that certain someone in your life... who makes you feel whole. It's helping the person you love when they need a hand to stand straight. Love is never giving up on the person you care about."
The author is really good at making you care a lot about the characters very quickly. They have great chemistry, the writing is funny, witty, and flows smoothly. I only wish it was longer - I feel like I would totally have wanted a whole book about Jeremy and Erica.
And c'mon, isn't that a hot cover?! :)
Basically, Seargent Jeremy Addison had a rough night in Vegas and woke up in the middle of the desert, beat up, bloody and alone. After stumbling back to a road, as fate would have it, the only car that comes by is driven by, Erica, a girl he hasn't seen in seven years but was the one girl he has ever loved and, unfortunately, the girl that got away. Seven years ago, he told her that he loved her, she ran away never giving him an explanation and has regretted it ever since. Their chance encounter brings to light all their past feelings and passion, and this time, they won't let each other go.
"I've loved you my whole life. I couldn't stop thinking about you. I've never stopped thinking about you." "That was seven years ago!... People change. They grow up and want different things." He shook his head. "Not me. I grew up, but I still want you."
Its only 8 chapters long. If you are looking for a fun, very quick great read, this is it!
1) Para complacer a mi parte superficial. Me gustó la portada. Mucho.
Erica nunca me dijo nada. NADA.

While I'm not a huge fan of contemporary romance in general, I have to admit that this sweet and angsty little novella was exactly what I needed right now. While Jeremy's tendency to dwell on his feelings of worthlessness grated my nerves a bit, the delicious chemistry and angst between him and Erica certainly helped to make up for it.
With unrequited love, low feelings of self-worth from both the hero and the heroine, secrets, past hurt and betrayal, and a bleak outlook for any future between them, this quick and easy read packed quite a bit of emotional punch for such a small word count. Not to mention that yummy cover!
"It's about helping the person you love when they need a hand to stand straight. Love is about never giving up on the person you care about."
Well we had the lady herself on the blog a few days ago and here I am again gushing about another one of Diane's books. Ever since reading On One Condition months ago I have been obsessed with Diane's books. They are just phenomenal and Try Me is no different. You will be falling head over heels in love within the first couple of pages. As soon as I heard of this it was on my kindle and I was lounging in bed with my kindle and a cocktail. Perfect night in. Yes, this happens all the time, especially with my favourite authors like Diane. Nothing could possibly be better. Okay, the characters actually coming to life could be better but... never mind back to the book.
Jeremy is a marine taking his leave in Vegas. When he wakes up in the middle of nowhere with no idea how he got there he knows he's in trouble. When he sees a car coming he thinks his look is in. He's wrong. The person to find him is the only person who he ever loved and the very person who broke his heart. But Erica is just as shocked at finding Jeremy than he is. Why did he reject him all those years ago and is this fate giving them a second chance to find love?
I loved this book. I mean I adored this book it was just fantastic and I read it in one sitting. Anyone who loved tortured heroes who need saving? Yes? Well this is the book for you. Within a page I was in love with the book. Duh, of course I was. Diane wrote it, I already loved it before I even read a page. (Psst, if you haven't read any of Diane's books go.... NOW!) Well I love the guys in her other books but I'm sorry guys you have got nothing on Jeremy.
Oh. My. God! That is all I can say about Jeremy. He is amazing. He is a super hot marine. Enough Said! *fans self* Not only is he amazing but he is the most stubborn, sweetest guy ever! Definitely my kinda guy. It's fair to say I fell head over heels in love with him straight away and all I wanted was to give him a hug. I kinda hated Erica because of him. Who would reject him? I was hellllooooo are you crazy? Then I read on.
Erica is a great heroine. Yes she irritated me to no end at first. I wanted to slap her or hit her across the head to knock some sense into her or something! Then we saw her point of view and I loved her just as much as Jeremy. Okay... that's a lie. But there's a valid reason why I love Jeremy more. Why? Have you been paying attention? Hot marine!!!! Okay back to Erica. I loved finding out more about Erica and you find out her secret (No I'm not telling you what it is!) and you just want to hug her and tell her everything is okay, but we let Jeremy do that instead. Not bitter and jealous of a fictional character or anything. Honestly! (Okay it's a lie). As much as Erica irritated me at the beginning of this book I did love her in the end and I just loved the ending. It was perfect.
If you love sappy love stories like me this is definitely the book for you. It's amazing and it had me swooning a whole lot throughout. Jeremy is so a new book boyfriend for me and you have no idea how excited I am to find out this is the first in the Take A Chance series. I'm hoping we get to see a whole lot more of Jeremy. ;) I would definitely suggest this book to anyone. Fantastic!
"I love you. I've never stopped loving you. Will never stop loving you, no matter what you do or say."
Reading Try Me by Diane Albert’s has lead me to go find out if she has written more books, I enjoyed this story it is a fast read and quite enjoyable. Oh and did I mention a sexy looking Marine.
Diane’s writing is good, words flowed well, I thought both characters had great chemistry together, plus the cover wow, I probably shouldn’t admit half the reason I signed up to read and review this was because of the cover…but it was worth it.
We meet Jeremy who is off on leave, drinking and fighting he wakes up in the desert bruised and bloody. Knowing he needs to get moving before he dies for dehydration he sticks his thumb out for a ride. Erica driving down the highway stops to help someone out and cannot believe her eyes when she sees its Jeremy the man she loved and rejected.
This story is fantastic, sexy Sergeant Jeremy Addison still loves Erica, Erica still loves Jeremy ….but can they put the past behind them and start over? Does true love conquer all?
All you can do is go purchase Try Me to find out! I would recommend Try Me to anyone who loves romance a bit of heartbreak and finding lost love and starting over. Diane Albert’s is one fantastic author and I cannot wait to read more of her books.
I read this all in one sitting, and stayed up to 1:30 a.m. to finish it! I loved the hero, Jeremy, completely. A boy from the wrong side of the tracks and from the worst possible family background who feels he's not good enough for the women he's loved since childhood, a woman who now has secrets she believes makes her unworthy as well. Watching the two of them come together and find the acceptance and love they've been longing for was a great emotional ride! I love friends-to-lovers stories, but this one also had a bit of a twist on that theme by inserting a major crisis into their friendship that made them believe they were no longer friends. I liked that variation, as it added another layer of conflict between them. A great read!
That was an awesomely good story! It was a really quick read, but never had a slow moment. Jeremy was incredibly sexy. He was so sweet and kind, I just wanted to eat him up. ;-) I must say, I really like this cover. So hot! :-) Laura, thank you for telling me about this book.
Everyone is in awe and lust with this cover, so when I tell you that the story is even better than the cover you can imagine it will be extraordinary! Diane Alberts wowed me with Try Me, and I was amazed at what a beautifully round and well developed romance and characters she gave in such a short novella (of merely 65 pages)! A wonderfully emotional yet witty (I LOVED Jeremy's sarcastic dry narrating tone!) story. I loved it.
5 Stars for the HOT ASS COVER!(You KNOW how I am about book covers - picky-picky!!!) 5 Stars for the awesome characters and touching story! I LOVED this one! Another short/quick read, but this one really packed an emotional punch, which is impressive given the length of the story. I just fell in love with the characters and am looking forward to reading more from this author.
This what just what I need to get me over the horror of Taking Chances! A very quick, fun and sexy read and I will be looking forward to reading more from this author. =)
Entangled has done it again!Diane Alberts has created a great romance with a mixture of sadness and denial but in the end there is a Happily Ever After to DIE for! I have not really read a lot of adult books lately but Entangled has brought home so many hard hitters it is hard for me to ignore the adult in me.
Try Me starts off with Jeremy a Sargent in the Army on leave. He decides to get far away from everything he has been avoiding by going to Las Vegas. He figures while he is on leave he can have a few days at the casino and try and relax. The last thing he ever expected was that he would end up in a bar fight and get stranded in the desert beaten and dehydrated. So when he comes to and sees a beautiful woman he can not believe his luck. The girl he has crushed on for over 7 years is there helping him.
Erica is driving home from work when she spots a man in the desert. She stops and when she sees who it is she helps him up and takes him home to clean up and ask him what the hell he was doing lying in the desert beaten and bruised. Erica is nervous because 7 years earlier she ran away from Jeremy when he said he loved her. She was scared and did not know what to do so she fled and they remained friends. But what Jeremy did not know was that she loved him but he was her brothers best friend and you know the unspoken rules no one dates the sister especially if you are best friends.
As Erica nurses Jeremy back to health she will fins that her feelings she hide are coming full force to the surface and Jeremy is not making it easy for her because he has made it known he wants her and always has and will not take no for an answer. What will these two do? Will Jeremy get his girl? Will Erica get over her past enough to let him in? This is one of those love stories that has you on the edge of your seat because you need to know what happens to them! I need book two like ASAP right now!
Entangled Publishing has completely changed my opinion about novellas. They really are perfect for when you're looking for a quick read, especially if it's romance. A few weeks ago, I read Divinely Ruined by Diane Alberts. It was the first book that I had read that was written by Diane and I absolutely loved it. Try Me was just as good and in some ways, even better.
Try Me is the story of Jeremy and Erica, two people who have loved each other forever but lost their chance (or so they thought)..until 7 years later when, call it fate/destiny or co-incidence, something brings them together again. This book has everything from friendship, childhood crushes and unrequited love to tragedy, insecurities and some serious emotional turmoil.
Diane has once again written a deep and wonderful love story involving two people you can't help but root for.
Jeremy and Erica are from different worlds. Sure, they were close as children but Jeremy has had a rough life while Erica's was mostly smooth sailing. Yet, despite their differences, Erica's the one girl who has always been on Jeremy's mind, the one who makes him wear his heart on his sleeve. Their shared past, even if not exactly romantic, just made the chemistry between them all the more intense and I loved that. Although individually they both have their issues, together, Jeremy's raw emotions somehow balance Erica's doubts and fears. Believe me, sparks were flying.
Try Me is a sweet, heart-warming story about two people that were just meant to be together trying to find their way back to each other.
Try Me was an wonderful and captivating love story. Young and in love Erica and Jeremy both made mistakes. Confident that their futures will never be together; they have lived the past eight years trying to move forward. Even though this is proving harder than anticipated; neither of them though. It they would find one another on a lonely desolate road in the desert. Erica is a wounded and fragile woman after what life has unfolded for her in the past few years. Determined that Jeremy will be like every other man she has known; she is determined to keep herself at a distance. This proves harder than planned when Jeremy begins pressing her boundaries, and searching for a way into her future. This story was very short, and over in a blink of the eye, but not without securing me as a new fan. I am anxious to see what else the Take a Chance series has to offer.
What a great emotional story this was! Read it in one sitting because i really wanted no needed to know what was going to happen.. Too bad it wasn't longer :(
Totally loved our 'bad'boy Jeremy, he's just so honest, genuine, loving and caring. A true hero in every sense of the word .. lol ..
It's real simple!...Go BUY it, READ it and JUDGE for yourself. ;)
"Why not? Love isn't about perfection or beauty. It's not about how good you look in a bikini, or how perfect your skin is. Love is about...about.." He fumbled for words."About needing that certain someone in your life-- that someone youlove when they need a hand to stand straight. Love is never giving up on the person you care about."
When Sergeant Jeremy Addison wakes up bloody, bruised, dehydrated and abandoned in the Vegas desert while on leave from the Army, he has to find a way back to civilisation, this is when he staggers into his ex best friends sister Erica who he hasn't seen since the night he told her he loved her 7 years ago.
I really like the best friends sister story's and this was no exception especially with such a sweet epilogue.
Why, why, why did I read this?! Probably because of the smoking hot cover. I don't read romance novels. I don´t even like sappy and predictable romance novels.
Quick, fast paced, emotional, and sexy, Diane Alberts's Try Me touches all the right notes and leaves you sighing with the happily ever after. Every woman should have a Jeremy in their life :)
I love it and I wanted more!!!!!!! I loved the writing,it was a really quick read, but never had a slow moment. Jeremy was incredibly sexy!!!!!!!He was so sweet..!!!!
I have definitely been on a bit of a contemporary romance kick recently and Try Me hit the spot perfectly. I have to confess I was drawn to this one for the cover (well who could resist muscles like those?) but the blurb sounded good too so I jumped at the chance of reading it. I've been burnt before by stories that don't live up to their fantastic covers but I'm very pleased to say that wasn't the case with Try Me and I'll definitely been keeping an eye out for more from Diane Alberts in the future.
Try Me is a short and sweet novella starring bad boy turned marine Jeremy who is home on leave and supposed to be having the time of his life in Vegas. After a few too many drinks Jeremy wakes up in the middle of the desert with no idea how he got there and no transport back to the town. The last person he expects to drive by and rescue him is Erica - the sister of his ex best friend and the girl he has been in love with for years. Erica rejected him once but seeing her again seems like fate and he is determined to win her heart now he has found her again.
I'm not going to say any more about the story for fear of spoilers so I'll just tell you that Jeremy is absolutely adorable. He's even hotter than the cover suggests, romantic and has a heart of gold, don't forget he is also a hero - this guy is definitely a catch. Unfortunately for us his heart is already taken but I think Erica was worthy of him so I shouldn't complain too much. There is a lot of shared history and some misunderstandings between them but they have fantastic chemistry and a bond that has been growing since they were children.
Try Me is a quick but satisfying read that left me with a smile on my face. This is perfect for when you need a dash of romance as a pick me up after a bad day but don't have the time for a full length novel. Diane Alberts has done a fantastic job of creating characters you will quickly come to care about and I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this series when Love Me and Need Me are released.
This was yet another fantastic short novel by Diane Alberts! Her ability to put so much emotion into a book that takes only an hour or two to read is impeccable.
Jeremy is a wounded soul. His father was an abusive alcoholic who committed murder and Jeremy was tagged as the boy on the wrong side of the tracks. He had been betrayed by his only close friend and lost the woman he loved in process. He doesn’t do serious relationships and for the most part doesn’t see himself as worthy of anything resembling a serious relationship. I wanted to reach through my Kindle and hug him because he story made me so sad (the abs didn’t hurt either!).
Erica is the girl that got away, the girl he loved but didn’t love him back and the girl that was just to good to be with the son of a convicted murderer or so Jeremy thought. Erica was wounded herself, having gone through a traumatic experience herself and believes that no one could possibly love her.
This book is about fate, taking a chance and second chances. What would be the chances of the one car in the desert when Jeremy needs saving belonging to the one woman he has ever loved? Is it possible that what he has thought for the last several years is not correct and she does love him? How far should he go to not let this chance pass him by? Can there really be a second chance for Jeremy and Erica? This was one of those books where I sat there and literally wanted to yell at the Kindle and tell Jeremy not to walk away and to keep pushing her. Both characters had a painful background and I wanted nothing more for them to find happiness!
Diane Alberts is truly amazing! She has a talent for creating books with realistic dialogue and descriptors that grab my heart. She can create a complete storyline in a short read which can be very hard to do! This book did not disappoint and is my favorite Diane Alberts’ book yet! I can’t wait to read more of this series:)
