Rate this book
Ways of Being in the World is an anthology of the Indigenous philosophical thought of communities across Turtle Island, offering readings on a variety of topics spanning many times and geographic locations. It was created especially to meet the needs of instructors who want to add Indigenous philosophy to their courses but are unsure where to begin―as well as for students, Indigenous or otherwise, who wish to broaden their horizons with materials not found in the typical philosophy course. This collection is an invitation to embark on a relationship with Indigenous peoples through the introduction of their unique philosophies.

I used this books this semester for my FYE (first year experience) class and it was marvelous. I will be using it again. I especially appreciated the selections and topics, such as epistemology and ethics. All of the selections are brilliant and the use at the end of each chapter of QR code to go to further viewings/ readings is also wonderful. Thank you to Dr. Sullivan-Clarke for this work that helps us settler colonials be able to teach how to think, and be, in the world differently.

The editor selected a number of very interesting essays. Overall, I found this a very engaging read. Because it had the word "philosophies" in the title, I was worried that it might be a dry and difficult read. But actually it was very engaging.
