Filled with plenty of photographs and information about the latest techniques used in farming, this book explains what vegetables are, how they are produced and grown as well as how they get from the farm and fields to the market or grocery store. The book also covers how farms have grown in size so that huge fields are planted with vegetables, often using machines instead of being planted or harvested by hand. Additionally, readers learn about how plants can help the environment. The author includes a reminder that eating fruits and vegetables that are grown locally can help the environment too. The book is informative and easy to read and might change a mind or two about their eating (and buying) habits.
