Personally not guilty - but collectively guilty? That‘s the key question asked in this book about a very young German man who came to Poland as a German soldier in autumn 1944 and then became a prisoner of war there. Wrongly accused to have killed a young girl, jailed together with proper war criminals from SS and Wehrmacht generals, he realized himself as a tiny little part in the murder machinery. Despite the dark main topic, a partly witty narrative style with lots of flashbacks.
