Examines plant and animal life, minerals, and other riches below the surface of the ocean, and the potential havoc that humans can wreak in harvesting resources from the seas
I loved the real pictures in this book. It's not something you would read cover to cover but there are so many interesting face about aquatic animals that you can easily and quickly share with students when you have a break.
An educational book about our oceans and what kind of plants and animals are in them. Over 2/3 of the earths surface is ocean so it’s important to know about it and what’s in it.
Great informational book with facts about the seas, coral reefs, divers and more. Many fun facts and did you know questions that provide interesting information that many students might not know. The book combines illustrations with real photos of animals, boats, and reefs which keeps the book interesting visually. This is a book for upper elementary students because it is a more complex book with words such as plankton, environments, continents, and toxins. This book would be a good addition to a nature unit.
Along with the regular descriptions in the book, I loved how the author included a "did you know" section on several pages. This book gave tons of information about oceans. I really liked how the author put a true or false section at the back of this book. I could use these statements to see how well the student understood the information and what they remember from the book.
