Maureen Mary was born on 1945 at Port Macquarie, a popular seaside town on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, and is the youngest of four children. Her sister was the novelist Wendy Brennan (Emma Darcy). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. When Miranda was ten, her father was transferred to Gosford, another coastal town in the countryside, much closer to Sydney. After leaving her convent school, she briefly studied the cello before moving to Sydney, where she embraced the emerging world of computers. Her career as a programmer ended after she married, had three daughters and bought a small acreage in a semi-rural community. Following this, she attempted greyhound training, as well as horse and goat breeding, but was left dissatisfied.

Miranda yearned to find a creative career from which she could earn money. When her sister suggested writing romances, it seemed like a good idea. She could do it at home, and it might even be fun! It took a decade of trial and error before her first romance, After the Affair, was accepted and published. At that time, Miranda, her husband Tony, and her three daughters had moved back to the Central Coast, where they could enjoy the sun and the surf lifestyle once again. Not long into her writing career, Miranda committed herself to writing a six-book series entitled, The Hearts of Fire, with a deadline of just nine short months. Bravely, her husband left his executive position to stay home and support Miranda’s writing career. He learned to cook and to clean, two invaluable household skills. Numerous successful stories followed, each embodying Miranda’s trademark style: pacy and sexy rhythms; passionate, real-life characters; and enduring, memorable story lines. She has one credo when writing romances: Don’t bore the reader! Millions of fans world-wide agree she never does.

Miranda was the sister of the late author, Emma Darcy.

A 10-year class reunion is quickly approaching, and 28-year-old career-minded Aussie-girl doesn't have a date. So she hires one. Rent-A-Stud is really career-minded older brother saving his younger brother's hide. Sparks fly. A 10-day fantasy sex-a-thon ensues.

Despite such a risqué scenario, the story was kind of bland. I didn't really connect with either H/h, and the sex scenes were tepid at best. I did rather enjoy the Australian location and sensibilities, however.

A very well written M & B from a writer I have liked for many decades. This book was written in 2002 so it feels a bit dated, but I knew that before starting. This one has no real drama or angst, it's just a lighthearted read set in Sydney between two consenting adults who know what they want. Josie hires a male escort for the evening so she can get through a party held by a women who picked on her at school. Callum is actually the escorts brother, who substitutes for him as a favour. Of course the H/h have an instant attraction and one thing leads to another. There were some steamy scenes and nothing much to hate about this story, except to say some readers may find it a bit ho/hum. I think I was in the mood for something that didn't tax my thinking yesterday, so I really enjoyed it. 😍 3.5 stars.

I went through a huge Harlequin Blaze/Temptation phase about 8 years ago and own about 100 of these that I've never read (and probably never will find the time - if only I knew what to do with them all!). I read this one years ago and it's been on my keeper shelf every since. I consider this a new read for this year since I barely remembered it! It was a bit risque, and a lot of fun. No real Big Mis - lots of honesty, actually, good sexytime scenes, and a nice ending. Basic book, but still a winner for me.

This book should not be read if you're looking for a great plot. This story should be read if you're looking for super hot erotic scenes. Miranda Lee how to keep things hot. [SPOILER] I loved Callum and Josie together.

An enjoyable read - although a little dated. I liked the h/H and the business partner Kay, but I didn't like her so-called best friends.

A Man For The Night is the 60th romance novel by Miranda Lee. Five years ago, at her high-school reunion, newly-divorced Josie Williams was a mess. She’s determined that this reunion, she will impress, but her current boyfriend lets on he’s bisexual (would she like a threesome?) and Josie needs a man for the night. Enter Callum McLeod: he’s only doing his actor brother a favour, and the escort agency has a “no sex” rule, but he soon realises that Josie is going to be hard to resist. When circumstances force him to spend the night with her, he gives up trying, and then next morning, Josie wants to hire him to fulfil her fantasy list. Sweet characters, a fun plot and some hot sex scenes. Classic Miranda Lee.
