Governor Sandra Murphy is rethinking the sanity of allowing her mother to talk her into considering becoming the democratic party’s choice for the presidential nominee. Sandra has enough to contend with after surviving a bomb attack, thanks to the brave border control agent working alongside the clever undercover FBI agent. Now she has to worry about a pesky reporter who seems to be everywhere scoping stories Sandra would prefer Wynter Holmes steer far away from.
Wynter admires the charismatic governor. After all, she voted for the woman. But that doesn’t give Governor Murphy a free pass. A breaking story is what Wynter lives for, and she isn’t about to stop digging just because the engaging governor is attractive, single, and an out lesbian. Reporting for the famously biased, right-wing media conglomerate is not exactly making Wynter a friend of the enigmatic leader.
Will repeated attempts on Governor Murphy’s life where Wynter might be collateral damage bring them closer together or tear them apart from what might be a perfect match?

4.5 ⭐️ Politics of Love, #2 in the San Diego Trilogy, is another thrilling and very exciting story with many familiar faces from the first book and the Asset Management series. Badass women, action and suspense guaranteed.
The main story and romance revolve around Democratic Governor Sandra Murphy and investigative journalist Wynter Holmes. Sandra has just experienced firsthand that politics can be dangerous when a bomb attack on her, her mother, and agent Emma Schmidt was attempted and she survived only very narrowly unharmed. Many, including her mother, want her to run for the U.S. presidency now more than ever, which she is seriously considering. Wynter writes for a right-wing paper, unfortunately, the only paper with a job opening. More and more, however, she questions whether the job is worth being pushed to one side, even though it's not her sentiment. She is interested in politics but wants to do fair, investigative journalism.
Compulsively, their paths keep crossing. And the more they meet, the more interested they become in each other. A job offer from Sandra, could be a great opportunity for Wynter, but is she ready to give up the hunt for ever new stories? After all, it's searching, digging, investigating, and uncovering that fascinates her the most. When Wynter gets her hands on highly incriminating material about Republican members of Congress who are conspiring with a foreign power against Murphy and want to prevent her possible candidacy, a cat-and-mouse game of media and politics and agents begins.
Sandra and Wynter experience an adventurous journey that will either weld them together or tear them apart. I loved both women from the beginning, they are charismatic and strong, not without flaws, but loving and self-sacrificing and with their hearts in the right place. The attraction is palpable and their love is strong. I liked the way they talked and interacted with each other and I genuinely enjoyed their way to happiness and success.
The secret organization (Asset Management series) and Jimena and Emma of book #1 are getting involved, to protect Sandra and Wynter and bring the hardcore Republicans and MAGA supporters to despair. Always very entertaining how the organization's tough men and women outsmart everyone and are always one step ahead. Each is a specialist in their field, and as I mentioned in book #1, though as tough as nails, (almost) all can also show their vulnerability and emotions. The relationships, friendships, and blind trust of the team are amazing and I always love learning more about each of them. The only thing that would be nicer is if this was not a novel but a true story. I can only hope it won't be too long before the end of the novel becomes the reality.
I admire the author's ability to weave together the diverse characters and groups from the different books without getting lost in too much detail and description and to write super exciting stories that sometimes have a great closeness to reality (although sometimes that's exactly what we want to escape with a book). The mix of action, suspense, emotions, and feelings is addictive for me. Can't wait for book #3, please keep writing Annette, thank you.
Highly recommended to every fan of political action intrigues. ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Sandra, a governor for the Democratic Party has decided to run for president, but following a lucky escape with a bomb attack, she now finds Wynter, a reporter, is everywhere. Wynter keeps digging until Sandra is unable to resist and they manage to make a connection, but with it brings new threats and danger.
I really enjoyed being back with the Organisation we met in the first San Diego trilogy story, and being introduced to Sandra and Wynter. Wynter had this really infectious spirit, which along with her determination you just knew would end up winning Sandra over. She’d somewhat judged Wynter as an annoying reporter just after her next big break, but when she had the opportunity to get to know her, realised just how different Wynter was. She had integrity and although she was looking for a big story, she wasn’t really out to do Sandra any harm. Wynter was her biggest champion, and I loved how dedicated and loyal to she was at all times.
What was great was the adventure, there was never a dull moment. As soon as Sandra thought things were calm, there would be a threat, or a scoop, some scandal, and it kept everyone on their toes. There was great camaraderie between the members of the Organisation tasked with protecting her and Wynter, and Sandra and Wynter just fitted in with them perfectly like one big family. Wynter never lost her journalistic edge though, which added fun and a little humour to the story, to lighten those heavier political and life threatening moments.
A great part of the series, that also works really well as a standalone story. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Intrigue and some amazing woman who are protecting democracy as to fight of bigotry and hate
Wynter is the professional journalist trying to bring the truth to light amongst TV news that have made lies the news. Sandra the next presidential candidate to taketh US back to care for all. Together they will bring a future that could make things better. First they have to survive. Enter the asset management woman who it is so fun to see them again. Val, Sophie, Toni and all the techniques they bring. This is just such a great romance with so many twists it is a hoot to keep up. The romance between Wynter and Sandra give a thrilling set of events as the date. I love the unique way they have to find time for each other. Such a fast paced, twisty love story so fun to read. Bring on book 3.
I truly enjoy a book that I can really sink my teeth into and I’ve got to say that “Politics of Love” is one of those books! I’ve read several books by this author and she has yet to disappoint me.
Sandra is the governor who contemplates making a run for the presidency. Wynter is a reporter who works for a TV station whose views she doesn’t always agree with. When the two meet, it’s right after Sandra has survived a bomb attack and Wynter doesn’t take it easy on Sandra with her questions.
Later they meet and call a truce and then the start getting together.
This is really a good book that has it all … intrigue, drama, danger, respect and love. It also has some really badass women who know how to fight. And on top of all of the previously mentioned … it has a lesbian woman who becomes the president.
I can’t wait to see what Ms Mori comes up with in her next book!
A thrilling novel about Sandra and Wynter’s journey to each other. The Organization protects women and is filled with Amazonian women with incredible skills, courage, and commitment. A very good read. I enthusiastically, heartily, and unequivocally recommend this and all of Annette Mori’s works. Her writing style is powerful and relevant. She writes about women’s rights and strengths. I have read all of Ms. Mori’s novels and have never been disappointed. Thank you Peace
A very solid read with many of the characters from the Asset Management series back in action. Suspense, danger, romance, and it's all tied together with Ms. Mori's crackling dialogue and penchant for creating 3D characters, warts and all. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, and it's highly recommended.
Best thing it had going for it for me was that it was short. The plot is too big to adequately resolve without feeling super rushed. And I just plain ol didn't like either of the MCs or their insta-love. Nope, next!
The women of the organization are my favourite characters. Always enjoy books about strong women and these women are great. I recommend this book and all the books with the organization in them.
