Our Twelve Senses: How Healthy Senses Refresh the Soul

Rate this book
Sensory overload can leave us feeling empty, or even thirsting for ever more stimulation. Our Twelve Senses is a more balanced, health-giving way of experiencing and understanding the human senses. The author starts by appreciating the rich tapestry of not just five, but twelve senses. These are the senses of touch, life, self-movement, balance, smell, taste, vision, temperature, hearing, language, the conceptual and the ego senses. This imaginative exploration into living with soul is based of Rudolf Steiner’s research into the senses, and offers a lucid introduction to spiritual psychology.

These were lectures that Soesman gave on the 12 senses. And somehow, as you read it, you hear his words more than you see them. Brilliantly shared, and paradigm altering! I can’t believe there was ever a time when I thought we only had 5 senses. Must read for educators, parents and anyone else looking looking to become aware of their own individual capacities.

organized in short chapters, the read satisfies the need for an overview and a complement to Rudolf Steiner's lectures dedicated to the organization of the human being as a micro-cosmos within the macro-cosmos. There are quotations in the opening of each chapter that refer to works from other epochs that resonate and echo the themes in each section.
A modern reading of hermetic laws and encouraging contemporary conscious focus toward everyday life as a key to unlocking awareness within the 'given-ness' of reality.
