Young children's lives are full of new experiences and these books help make them less scary. The simple conversational text and lively illustrations are carefully designed to encourage further dialogue between reader and child. Use these books as a starting point to talk to your child and help them to understand and prepare for these events and to share any worries they may have.

I love love love that Child's Play incorporates diversity in their books. There is always at least one child wearing a hearing aid, one with glasses, or one in a wheelchair. Sometimes all three will be present in a book. This series is also great for its "Making the Most out of This Book" which is included on the back end-paper where most publishers just include a blank page. There are no wasted pages in these books. This series is printed on a slightly thicker card stock with a light laminate on it so that it will withstand multiple readings. My only complaint is that I found the written text to be a little halting. It's not too bad because it allows for more discussion on each page if the reader is willing to go off script.

A wonderful little book to interact with my son and to show him what it will be like for his first year of school.
