For the Nova family, life is so good that it seems to defy scientific explanation. That is, until an unfortunate car accident leaves a dark hole in the lives of Dr. Edwin Nova and his daughter, Nora. Dr. Nova has long desired for his daughter to be the happiest girl in the world. This becomes an obsession as he struggles to make her happy again after the loss of her mother. Possessed and blinded by his determination, he builds a machine which gives Nora special powers. The machine works, but there is a horrible, unforeseen side effect. Now, if Nora becomes too happy, she'll go into a coma and possibly even die. Nora is heartbroken until she discovers that some things are more important to her than her own happiness. Yet, her struggles have only just begun.
