Comprehensive, accessible read on a common illness that can and should be read by all future (and repeat) mothers as well as their loved ones to both understand Postpartum Depression (PPD) and find ways to address PPD with an understanding of the road map to recovery. Personally, I appreciated Chapters 9 and 10, written about fathers/husbands and then written directly to them as the audience. Great read overall, one I plan to add to my patient library.
Informative and actionable for a wide range of needs. But I agree with the other reviews that parts come off tone-deaf and targeted at more privileged women. Example: I'm a bit bamboozled at the authors' decision to mention that they were not going to use the term "partner" in lieu of husband because most partners are husbands.
I had to read this with a bowl of salt. I was able to make some very poignant reflections and also take some encouragement from portions of this book, but I would probably not recommend it to a friend for help.
