Dying might just be the best thing that ever happened to Dare.

Not the dying itself, of course, although thankfully he doesn't remember it. He finds himself in a gray void, where a mysterious voice offers him a Continue on to whatever awaits him in the afterlife, or be reborn on a world with video game-like mechanics. Which as far as he's concerned isn't a tough choice at all.

Just that quickly Dare begins a new life full of possibilities, eagerly venturing out to explore a breathtaking world, level up and become powerful, and romance and fall in love with beautiful women of an incredible variety of fantasy races.

Be This is a harem series and features explicit romantic scenes with numerous partners.

I've said it over and over, harem books are books first and harem second.

You still need a good story with solid characters. You can't put out something that reads like a letter to Penthouse and say you wrote a story. You wrote a letter to Penthouse.

Overall I liked it, although I found the early parts of the MC's entry to Collisa to be like reading about someone playing ARK. MC is also a holier-than-thou millennial who has to rub his view of the world in the face of literally everyone else who has lived in this world their entire lives. Yes, slavery is bad, but keeping your mouth shut and working around it is the smart play when you hold a minority opinion (at least without the bully pulpit of social media).

Though I can't give it 5 in good conscience with those demerits, it's a strong 4 as it held my attention. More and more things right now are not, so I'll be checking out book 2.

I listened to the Audible version, narrated by Audible's "Virtual Voice", using a very well done British female voice. The AI voice is heads and shoulders above earlier versions of text-to-speech, such as Voice Dream.

The story is more of a litrpg story than haremlit. I think it took three chapters for him to find a water supply. There are currently 9 books in the Outsider series, with a 10th available for pre-order. The first two books are available as audiobooks with the "Virtual Voice" narration. It looks like the haremlit aspect develops slowly, with the addition of one girl during each book.

Sadly, right after purchasing book 2, I discovered that Book 6 was a dumpster fire of infidelity and more. A detailed description is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Reviewers have said that the series never recovered after book 6. I'll probably listen to book 2 since I've already purchased it and he's not yet a jerk in the series, but I won't go beyond book 2, and I'm giving book 1 a very low rating to warn others before you might embark on what would've been a decent series.

Collisa is the fantasy world for most guys. Not only are harems a major theme but almost every woman seems willing to sleep with the hero. No strings, no attachments, just no commitment sex. There are no venereal diseases either. There are even women who are willing to bare his children and raise them themselves. Though Dare is a little bit more responsible in that he doesn't want to have children that he's not part of their lives, so he tries to be responsible and not go around impregnating every woman he sleeps with.
Dare worked in a chemical plant moving around the barrels, when an explosion happened that took his life and most of his coworkers. He is given an chance by a mysterious benefactor to take a life on Collisa given a new body of an Olympic athlete with the looks of a movie star. He is also given a few high value gifts. The world is run like a Dungeons and Dragons game with leveling, spawn points, and dungeons. He starts off low level with having to earn his levels, quickly compared to the rest of the people in the world, but not so quickly as to be quickly overpowering. I like that about this book.
The first harem member he meets is Zuri, a goblin woman, pictured on the cover. Most goblins are slaves and very low value slaves at that. He rescues her from a roaming panther after her master abandons her to the wilderness. She is a healer with nature magic offensive magic. Together they fight monsters and level up.

Fun little romp

Interesting in quiet new series. It is More Slice of life type of book. I found it relaxing and enjoyable. Sexy time is very low key mostly and the harem part is... Not yet. As far as the RPG part It is no stats only descriptions with level numbers. No way to ascertain growth other than description by author. Still I found the character building to be slow and steady. The story itself is very simple Dare is dropped in a new world by a higher power. The reasoning was for entertainment but there may be more. I'd like the simple concept so far. No mega battles that are impossible yet somehow won. The MC was given a few gifts to make his leveling slightly easier. Maybe he'll get a few more later on But that's indeterminate. Overall I look forward to the next book.

hope there’s a wolf-girl next

Lay that s## was great an gave a variety to pull in large group of readers the the protagonist was annoying. Also the way you described the monster girls th3n use A.I. art that looks different in subtle ways to be confusing from how we thought they’d look.

The 3 reasons why

1.He has years of RPG and fantasy knowledge but just rolls right into different culture normies with no try to understand there POV, lay acting so self-righteous that he came off has an a##.

2.He just f##ks the monster girls with thought that he might die totally idiot.

3.There was no effort to see if he could game the system skills threw exploits he just toke the info at face value.

You could read Collisa as as standalone and enjoy it enough despite a few frustrations (hence the four stars), mostly centred around Dare being such a flip-floppy character, constantly switching between strong male lead and simpering moron, but I quit half way through the second book.

Phoenix seems to want to make this a platform for expressing his views and honestly that's his perogative as an author. I can't fault him for that. What I can fault him for though is having the inability to express himself in a way that actually makes any sense, then blame it on the character for not being able to articulate himself.

The real kicker, though, is finding out that Dare gets turned into a cuckold fantasy. The first two books already seem to be a collection of the author's barely disguised fetishes, but it feels like he's going through a checklist. I'm out.

Boring

I read to page 135 or so and the protagonist although new to the world and his character ,the way he handeled himself with self.protection did not.grab my attention to continue on . A bunny girl has done everything she could too get this guy to claim her sexually he still.needs to ask her if that is what she really wants . He is not only the dullist tool in the box ,he isn't even in the box . Since the first 135 pages have not grabbed my want to read then rest I will turn it over to you......it may just grab your attention . I lime my protagonist to be a bit sharper of mind .

Loved it

It's got many familiar elements, but they are redone in a pretty original way. It's a slow burn, harem at least in the sense that up until the conclusion of this book, there's only his first harem female. The MC does have sex other than her before they meet and once with someone else after but with her blessing. But the harem itself hasn't formed yet. Not fade to black but not overly erotic. Really, it's a good story, and I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in a couple of weeks.

Good start

This series 4 of? The latest, #5 will soon be released, not sure if there will be more. This is a harem story so it is not a new subject/theme etc. Enjoyable due to the setting where a man comes to life on a new planet with different, well, everything.

The harem aspect gets extreme the further one gets into the series. Too much in my opinion. When the leading man (the only one) simply takes on too many responsibilities, women, wars, etc. If the story concentrated on the real action it would be much better.

Pleasantly surprised.

I really enjoyed this book. I was a nice, laid-back read. With good character and story growth. I honestly did not expect much, but the writing is very well done.
MC has a few dialiances with some side characters and monsters, but they just worked really well. I can't wait to read the next one. Read through KU, but am going to buy to help support the author.

Great read 👍

I really enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down. Very much looking forward to read the next book.
The editing is very good. I have not noticed any errors. That doesn't mean there are none... I am not perfect. But they are minor enough to not disrupt the flow of reading.
I liked the characters and their reasoning and the flow of the plot. The characters were believable. I am glad I took a chance on this book.

Not what I was hoping for

The writing isn’t bad. However it is billed as an isakai adventure novel with harem elements. Being that it’s light on adventure storyline and heavy on coitus; it is actually an erotica novel with light adventure elements.

What I really don’t care for is the speculative mental babble about possible scenarios without any facts to base them on. It feels like filler material to pad out between the sex scenes.

Tried to read, but gave up 30% of the way through.
A lot of uninteresting game play where the descriptions of the fights are minimal and mediocre.
Then when he does start interacting with other characters, the MC acts like teenager who knows better than anyone else.
The sex scenes are almost throwaway and appear to be there for the smut factor.
Maybe it will improve, but I just got bored with the story and just couldn't be bothered.

This book series is pretty decent.. If you don't mind the insane amount of sex.
A lot of books simply don't have sex at all.. Then you have the total opposite of that .. Way too much sex. I am not sure where on that spectrum to put this series. I will say though that if you took the sex out this 12 book series would probably only be around 2-3 books. So you be the judge.
The story is pretty good otherwise. For what it is.

Ugh

For someone who was supposed to be kinda smart according to "God" this dude is a fucking idiot. His morals are way to pronounced for someone who would jack off on page 2. Does not really pay attention much of anything but what he did wrong or how its wrong to do that. I just can't right now, maybe ill finish it later

Fetish warning

A tip for any future reader's. Skip the bunny girl post unless you are a fan of golden showers. I would have preferred the section to be clearly marked. Also, the character art is off Target. The women are universally described as voluptuous or lush but the art is of petite women.

Interesting litrpg

This was definitely an interesting take on the lit RPG genre. Like some games it does seem to take a little more time to set up and get rolling. Once the basics have been covered, however the story starts to progress at a much faster clip.

Entertaining, funny, and surprising. I look forward to reading the next book.

Loved it!

I really went through this back fast since I had trouble putting it down, while the story isn’t anything new really, it is executed in a way that made it very entertaining for me, the main character isn’t a jerk or an idiot and he encounters diverse side characters, some of which turn into sexy spicy time. On to book 2!

Incredible world building.

I was delightfully surprised at how good this story was. This was my first book by this author so I thought it might be like most litrpg stories but the characters were robust and the storyline superb.

Enjoyable read

This is a somewhat lighthearted tale that is written fairly well. There's nothing especially controversial here (outside the harem elements anyway) and would be something I believe most that like Isekai stories will enjoy this one too.

Decent

Aside from the over abundent soapboxing over racism, it was a good story. I am not against the idea but a more nuanced and subtle approach would be appreciated. However, I do plan to read the second.

If you are obsessed with world building details, this book will be a try for you. At least for the first 215 pages.
After that I stopped reading it, as I personally am not a fan of reading a step by step manual for world building.

What a great fantasy!

This fantasy has everything you need, great storyline, action and adventure, along with enough eroticism to wet your lips by. I can't wait to read the second installment and see what happens next.

Of f To A Good Start

Very I treating fantasy oriented book, taking the concept of a video game, and turning it I to a life after death event.

The reason for such a high rating is due to that I can read pages of the story without tiring or boredom. Nice comfortable pace.

Detailed but fun Isekai

This one definitely gets into the nitty gritty of leveling and details about how Dare learns about the world he finds himself in. The characters feel well fleshed out and with more to learn about them. Looking forward to book 2!
