His goal is to take her from her fiancé. Her goal is to stay loyal to her fiancé. Tate. I'm a confirmed bachelor that's sworn off marriage. My life is perfect until she clings to me in a chaotic restaurant. Minutes later, I watched as another man put a ring on her finger. I don't care if I must break her engagement to get her. It's simple. I want her. I'm the guy that gets whatever I want, so getting her should be easy. Then, I find out that I Marry her or Walk away. Can I walk away and watch her marry the fiancé? Hell no! Lande. He's a rich confirmed bachelor. Our paths would have never crossed had I not been knocked on my ass in a restaurant and I cling to him. I thanked him for helping me and went my merry way, accepting my fiancé's proposal minutes after.
Days later, I find myself working in his home, now I see him every day. I'm drawn to him like a moth to a flame. I just need to remind myself of three things every day.
I am engaged. I can't break my engagement. I must keep my vow.
Long as I mantra all three daily, it should be easy-peasy working for him, right?
This book could have been very good. I really wanted to give this a higher score, but the story reads like a PowerPower. The writer is just telling you what is going on with little to no description of the scenes or actions.
Some might say Tate started as an Alpha and that he is not… well, it’s not always someone hitting his chest: “Me Tarzan “ that makes him alpha. I love his determination, everyone has a weakness and Tate weakness was Lande, the minute they collided something shifted in his bad boy demeanor and tethered them to the point of obsession for Tate which is out of character for him. I love it! But it wasn’t so simple, Lande got engaged less than 30 minutes after they “met” and Tate wasn’t given up. See for yourself. the twist and turns that will keep you enthralled! Can’t wait for book 2

3⭐️/ 2-3🌶️
When Tate went to have dinner with one of his best friends, the last thing he expected was a random woman climbing up his leg, and telling him to not let her go. Tate somehow being caught off guard by the unknown woman, immediately felt a sense of protectiveness come over him as he held her in his arms, and when he glanced at her, he couldn’t believe the beauty before his eyes. Lande slipped and couldn’t seem to find her way up properly, and somehow managed to find herself holding on for dear life onto a mysterious man. Both Tate and Lande didn’t know each other, but right away felt something. The night progressed, and for Lande it was the night she got engaged to her boyfriend, but for Tate it was the night he became determined to have Lande at for himself… like he said, she isn’t married yet. A story with a multicultural romance, billionaire, age gap, instant love trope, this story seemed very interesting to read.
Yeah this book definitely gave insta love right from the beginning so, if that isn’t a trope you like then this book probably won’t be for you. Personally, I don’t mind insta love in books as well as its done right or I enjoy it. Plus who doesn’t love reading about a man becoming unhinged over the woman he wants? Tate was immediately obsessed with Lande, and he HAD. TO. HAVE. HER. No matter what. I mean, I’ve read my fair share of male leads who would do anything and everything for the woman they want, but this was different especially since Lande got engaged at the very beginning, but that didn’t stop Tate from wanting Lande, like he said, she isn’t married yet. Like… OMG! This man! But also he was a billionaire who was like, “I can do whatever I want, and I’ll get it by any means necessary” kind of vibe. So yeah, in a nutshell, Tate wanted Lande badly, and even though Lande was engaged, even she couldn’t help but think about Tate, as well as feel the connection they shared together. Lande knew she shouldn’t have been feeling the way she was towards Tate, but the man had a grip on her she couldn’t exactly explain.
As the story progressed, Tate was determined to make Lande his woman. Tate was also possessive, jealous when it came to Lande so, don’t be surprised when you read about him getting jealous over seeing Lande with her fiancé. As much as I love a possessive fictional man, there were some moments I didn’t necessarily like such as, the fact that Tate had temper tantrums over Lande. I was here thinking, “wow Tate really is obsessed with Lande”, and then he goes and has a tantrum over Lande not accepting his expensive gift like… I wasn’t expecting that, but also for a strong and powerful man to throw an actual tantrum just took away a bit of the strong/stoic type I was initially feeling in the beginning. If my man (either fictional or real) throws a tantrum, then I’ll treat him like the child he’s acting like. Yeah not really a good quality for Tate, but I guess it played into his whole unhinged/ obsession over Lande.
Lande was so devoted and loyal to those around her, especially when it came to her family and helping her friends. Towards the middle half of the story, I got to see even more of the extent of what Lande did in order to help, and getting to see just how loyal she was. Lande was sweet, but also a bit sassy when she felt like it. When it came to Tate, Lande felt both confident and comfortable around him. For the first time, Lande felt cherished and respected by a man, especially when it came to Tate finding out the truth of Lande’s past and her vow, it highlighted the importance of Lande’s life. Being around Lande, others were incapable of not feeling happy or smiling around her because she was such a joy to be around. Lande was a good counterpart to Tate’s serious, grumpy personality, and with Lande being a sunshine sweetie, she brought out the softness (and of course obsession) in Tate.
Overall, this was an interesting take on an obsessed billionaire who went beyond the lines to attain the woman he wanted. The insta love trope was on full force from beginning, middle, and end. If you don’t like the insta love trope, then sadly you won’t enjoy this story. I didn’t mind the insta love trope, and the way that Tate was towards Lande made me laugh at how completely unhinged he was for her. Tate literally wanted Lande with him at all times, and that just goes to show how enamored and clingy he was to her haha. I know this story wasn’t meant to be completely funny, but I found myself laughing at the way Tate had no chill over Lande, and how some things were just absolutely absurd! Like I said, the man was unhinged! Lande was sweet, and over the course of the story she found happiness with Tate which was great. As a whole, the story had a little bit of everything from billionaire, age gap (Tate was 36 and Lande was 26), work place romance, little bit of spice, some danger, and a little bit of found family with Lande’s friends. Towards the end, I was expecting the level of danger that occurred which caught me by surprise. With the way the story ended, specifically the epilogue, I have a feeling that Lande and Tate’s story may not be over. If you’re looking for an easy read with some of the tropes I mentioned, I think you’ll enjoy it.
A. Akinosho often gives her readers slow-burn, insta-love stories where the couple has some form of barrier to their relationship. Collide certainly fits this description! Wealthy Tate is the quintessential playboy, and readers later learn that he has some trauma associated with commitment. When he meets Lande (very meet cute) Tate immediately, immediately, immediately wants to know more about her and he just may be a little in love with her by the end of their encounter. Imagine his dismayed feelings when a few minutes later he witnesses her receiving a marriage proposal which she accepts. From that point, Tate does everything that he can to ensure that he has a spot in Lande’s life. But her lovely proposal has more to it than it first appears. Ms. Akinosho layers her story with a wealth of complications, but I liked how the pair did not allow outside influences to hamper their relationship (or at least not for long). Tony, Tate’s unstable cousin, is a major player in the narrative, will he win all the pieces? Lande and Tate have a cadre of lively friends, and they provide a lot of humor to the story. I enjoyed this funny and slightly over the top tale, the author has a quaint and cute writing style. The story does not end with a cliffhanger, but Tony makes a very brief and sinister appearance, is there a sequel coming? https://theretiredreader.com/f/collid...
Thank you Grey’s Promotion and author A. Akinosho for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Consider all the times you have literally run into a stranger… Imagine one of those times, the connection is immediate and so electric you cannot stop thinking about that person… Cue Tate and Lande’s happenstance obsession!
While sometimes chaotic, these two have an undeniable love. The only trouble is the people standing in their way! Full of surprises and an ending I was not expecting, Collide takes the reader on an adventure through the ups and downs of a new relationship. I found some actions unnerving based on my own real life experiences, but understood the author’s perspective.
Collide is for the reader who enjoys a little bit of 50 Shades energy, mixed with a touch of You obsession, and a whole lot of contemporary love (including that spicy bit we all enjoy)! Rated 3.5 stars rounded for so much potential!
3.5 🌟. Good story. Still grammatical errors with this author but she tells a good story. When Lande grabs onto Tate in a restaurant it’s instant attraction for both. Lande is an interior designer and Tate hires her so he can see her again. At first I liked tates jealous obsession but after a while it became too much. At the same time Lande seemed a bit oblivious to how the things she did would set Tate off. Part of me thought she did it to get a reaction out of him but she was just naive. Towards the end the book dragged on but hinted at a sequel which I would read
Collide by A. Akinosho is the story of Lande and Tate. Tate was at a restaurant meeting his friend when all of a sudden he has a women holding on to him. Tate feels a pull toward her and when he sees her face he is instantly smitten. But then once she gathers herself the next thing is a man comes and claims her then asked her to marry him. Of course Tate is so taken with her he knows he must have her and starts putting into motion how to claim her himself. Enjoyed their story.
This is my first time reading this Author, I absolutely enjoyed this story of Tate and Olamide (land). I also enjoyed all of the side characters and I would love to see Kay find a true love. I was happy She stuck to her vow that she made to her sister many people thought that Vow was stupid. Olamide has many friends, and family who knows what that vow means to her and why she won’t break it Especially Tate. I cannot wait for the next book come out.
I really enjoyed this romance although there were so many family members and friends involved that sometimes I needed more of a focus on just the couple and Tony if introduced as this much of a sociopath needed to be a lot more fleshed out and why did Tate not do more to protect his love? I could maybe understand the guilt he had concerning Tony but once he knew he had seen Lande and would likely fixate on her he should have tripled her security. He was always having Lande protected or watching her why did his detail not pick up that Tony was following him and why did Tony who was disgusting really need to be part of the story-it was well written but seemed to be a character or added danger that did not need to be a part of the story if it was not more woven in throughout-it seemed a bit random when he popped up initially and when he appeared at the end-it maybe because there will be a second book. I liked Kay and Deji and would love to know more about them and Dale. I just wish that Tate had finished Tony before he did any more harm because you know that is coming book 2 and he should have been in jail not a psychiatric hospital. Money and Tate’s uncle will always allow him to be a danger to Lande and Tate. Great book it has me upset and worried or invested like I know these characters.
This is an adult novel dealing with crude language and explicit scenes, amongst other adult topics. 18 years and up only.
Thank you Valentine PR/ Grey Promo for the opportunity to ARC read this book.
Tropes: ✅️ Insta love ✅️ billionaire Romance ✅️ Work Place Romance ✅️ Forced Proximity ✅️ Possessive MMC ✅️ Age gap ✅️ Spicy 🌶🌶/5
This was a dual romance between a billionaire, alpahole, Tate and our sassy FMC Lande. I was very interest from the 1st sentence and had a feeling that I would enjoy this book. It was a very quick and spicy read. There was some humor from Lande and her friends, and there was also electrifying chemistry between her and Tate. I will warn you though, this book is HEAVY on the Instant love trope. Out the get-go, Tate is completely smitten by Lande and goes above and beyond to have her. So if you prefer a book with a slow burn, then this isn't the book for you. Out of the two, I enjoyed Lande's POV a lot more (I found Tate to be immature at times, even though he is the older one). Lande just had such a welcoming personality, but she was also headstrong and doesn't allow anyone to push her around. It's something I love in FMCs. The ending gave me vibes that perhaps there might be more to come? But we shall see.
I liked their initial meet. It was a real "meet cute". She couldn't even see whose body she was climbing up. It was love at first hold. Lande had a very interesting life. She was engaged to Deji, her best friend was a guy named Kay, who Tate thought was a girl. Two exes who were still in love with her. Sammy/Alex and Tunde, the fiance who cheated, got someone pregnant and wanted her back. Tate had interesting friends but not the secrets Lande had. I liked his guy friends Micah and Dane. Was not a fan of Tate's controlling possessive ways. That was way too much. I liked the story overall even though I thought Tate's behavior bordered on abuse. I was glad Andie Skymore and Brenda got their comeuppance and Lande didn't have to lift a finger or get down in the gutter with them. I don't know why Tate didn't pay close attention to his psycho cousin, knowing what he was like. I was surprised he escalated to the point where he would try to assault Lande like the sick " game" he used to "play". I can't wait to see what happens next with the baby coming and all. Hopefully Tate won't continue to be so controlling and possessive.
Tate and Lande were so cute in their meeting. Lande could not see Tate but she remembered how he smelled and how she felt in his arms. Tate was just taken aback by some woman crawling up his legs and begging him not to let go. He did not even know her name but he was deeply affected by just her presence. He was determined to have her in his life even though she was engaged to another man. He wore her down and she relented, but she was still weary for several reasons. Through some hard work and tragic incidents, they finally get to have their HEA or do they?
This was my first time reading this author's work. The first part of this story was slow going but interesting. I just love the slow-burn method that Tate took to woo Lande. The story didn't truly heat up until the end and it had me holding my breath. I just hate the "Happy For Now" ending and the implications of another book. I also had a problem pronouncing some of the names but that just shows my ignorance of Nigerian culture.
3.5 stars rounded up since it's my first by this author.
We follow Lande who runs into Tate (literally) at a restaurant. Tate is immediately head over heels with Lance, only for her to become engaged that night. Tate finds out who she is and that she does interior design - so he hires her to do work for his company. He continually pursues Lande in spite of her engagement and doesn't want to give up.
I was gripped from the beginning with Lande's seemingly sad engagement and why she was supposed to marry him in the first place. I enjoyed the dual POV and getting to hear both sides of the story. I loved learning about customs in Lagos and how relationships and names work in that culture. The mystery elements were also a fun addition to the story.
Unfortunately, Tate was supposed to come off as an "alpha male" and really just came across as obsessed and stalkerish, which made him very unlikable for me. I also felt like this was just a little long with some storylines not really adding anything to the overall story.
If you love a super possessive alpha type and forbidden romance, here ya go!!
The biggest thank you to Grey's Promotions for the eARC of this story in exchange for an honest review!
3.5 stars Lande and Tate meet on the night she becomes engaged to another man. The plot made an interesting story. Lande was a good girl. She goes to church, volunteers , self sacrificing. She is dependable and trustworthy. When she made a promise she stuck to it. Sometimes at the risk of her own happiness. Tate fell instantly. Rich businessman, dirty mouth, arrogant and handsome. He jumped through hoops to get her attention and love. He is jealous and possessive but not to the point where he is dominant. It worked with this story because of who lande was. I liked how Tate took care of Lande. Making sure she was safe and protected. Respecting her views on intimacy. She was independent and he didn’t strip it away.
I wanted to like it more, but it felt like I was reading a rough draft script or outline. It was a little choppy, and although the book was long and the romantic relationship seemed to not develop very realistically, it still felt rushed or unpolished in many parts. Something was off about it, and I'm sure part of it is a difference in dialect, and the fact that nobody I know in my reality would put up with a man like Tate. His behavior and the entire scenario were too unbelievable for me. I think I was probably not the intended audience for this book. A Nigerian reader would probably relate more than what I could. That being said, I did find myself reading later at night than usual to try to finish it because it kept me wondering how it would end.
This was a pretty good storyline. The backstory of Tate and Lande was well developed. We saw Tate and his relationship with his friends and the story of his family. We also saw Lande's relationship with her family and friends. I loved Lande's spirit and her determination to keep living regardless of the grief and heartbreak she had experienced. Tate fell hard for Lande and stopped at nothing to need have her. Tate was too much and his possessive obsessive ways made it hard to finish the book. I did finish cause I wanted to Lande get her happiness. Definitely don't need a 2nd book with Tony getting his revenge on Tate.
Right away at the first page, it already had me intrigued with the way they were talking about the engagement. I also found the story original because it's been a while since I've read a book that gives me a few chapters with different POV of the same scenes. It didn’t completely hook me, but I give the story credit for what I previously mentioned. And because with Tate's obsessive and controlling behavior, paired with Lande's stubborn and free spirited one, it makes for an entertaining pairing.
This was a great love story. Insta-love, promises kept, alpha male who knows who and what he wants. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the grammatical and punctuation errors. New sentences starting in the wrong place and things like that. However, though annoying, it didn't take too much from the story itself. There have been books I've read where that was a deal breaker. That's not the case here. I've read other stories by this author and have enjoyed every one.
This was my second time reading this story, I read it first in May, now almost a year later I’m reading it again loving ever minute of it. I’m with Tate he should have took care of Tony. Lande & her man fan gets into trouble without even realize that her personality draws me to her. But can’t wait to find out what she’s having. It also sounded like it was going to be another part to this story but it’s March 2024 and I don’t see anything yet. I keep checking because I do what to read it if there’s a part 2.
I fell in love with the characters in this story so much that I had to buy a copy. Tate's romantic pursuit of Lande is sometimes funny yet delightful, but Lande is a woman who knows her worth and has duties and responsibilities that are the framework of her life. Her past, while traumatic, didn't define her, and she fought hard to keep it that way. Despite the age difference, which I had forgotten, it didn't matter between them. There are some dark moments and situations that some might find a bit much, so please check out the author's notes.
I really liked this book from the very first paragraph. The FMC is sweet and sassy. I love love how possessive and jealous Tate is. The story line was great and I didn’t have any questions unanswered. I love the little action it had and I love the chemistry every character had even the best friend. My only real complaint is some of the names where hard to pronounce and there were grammatical errors. 3.5⭐️ 2.5🌶️
I was skeptical about this book because I don't enjoy in books on affairs etc. I enjoyed this one. I won't say mum because I don't want to ruin it for others. But I enjoyed the character development, the mix of yoruba and English, the African expressions and the characters. The book kept me laughing for hours! I couldn't put it down.so so funny. I feel like I've just found my new favourite author. X
I really really wanted to like this book. I'm currently halfway through and having a hard time with it and I've never DNF'd a book. The plot and the story are there, but the main characters need some tuning. There are so many grammatical errors in the book that it takes away from enjoying it. You have to re-read paragraphs to understand what the author meant and what's going on in the story. Like I said, I've never not finished a book, so I'm going to try to get to the end.
This novel is the perfect blend of romance and humor. The chemistry between the characters is effortless, the dialogue is genuinely hilarious, and the love story feels warm and authentic rather than predictable. It delivers laugh-out-loud moments while still capturing the vulnerability and depth that make a romance truly satisfying. A delightful, feel-good read that keeps you smiling long after the last page.
I really enjoyed this story, and the characters were very entertaining and believable. I loved the chemistry between Lande and Tate it was smoking hot 🔥! Tony needs to be put out of his misery. He is a total loser! I can't wait to read more about Lande and Tate. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed.
The dual pov is hard to follow. The storyline has potential but falls short. The H is less alpha and more bark than bite. The h is bland with no personality. The villains all get a pass. There will be a book two. There are editing and grammatical errors. 3.5 stars.
Collide by A. Akinosho is a page turning, An Age Gap Romance which will increase your heart beat and you get lost in Tate and Lande world. This is the first book I've read from the Author and I am Intrigued and amazed with the writing.
I am sorry to say that this was not a good book. Poor grammar and poorly written. I will not be reading anymore of this author work. Only reason I gave this book a 3 star was because I give everyone a second chance.
Want something different. If you do don't pass up this book. To me it's a little from what I usually read but I can say I truly enjoyed every single word. HAPPY READING EVERYONE.
