Applied Memory

Rate this book
The goal of the Applied Memory volume is to highlight many interesting and creative applications of basic memory phenomena that are underrepresented, or even unrepresented, in the literature. Authors were charged with the task of reviewing relevant basic and applied research and offering new empirical investigations into the applications of these benchmark phenomena. To this end, Applied Memory, consists of 17 chapters that explore the influences of generation, irrelevant speech, verbal overshadowing, isolation, part-set cuing, reminiscence, hyperemnesia, placebos, mental state, metamemory knowledge, flashbulb events, and traumatic events on memory in everyday settings, as well as applications of source memory, social memory, involuntary autobiographical memory, dream memory, and strategic memory regulation. The volume is designed as a resource for basic and applied memory researchers and as a supplementary text in graduate or upper-level undergraduate courses in cognitive psychology, human memory, or applied psychology.

Placed in an escape pod and jettisoned from a dying planet, MR4K crash landed on Earth in 1981. While much of his formative years are shrouded in mystery, he spent a significant portion in the State of New York. With the passage of time, a seed of wanderlust bore fruit within his soul and he began traveling the world in search of adventure. His journeys led to the discovery of the love of a true Lady, and with it, obtaining a profound happiness. He has spent the past 12 years living in Dallas, and together with his trusty companions, Chootie Judy the Precious Monster and the late Great King Baby Grayson, fighting crimes against Imagination wherever they may arise.

MR4K is a mostly Plant-Powered horror author and a student of storycraft. He is a lover of music, of which RUSH, King Buffalo, Phil Collins, and NIN are amongst his favorites. To celebrate this love, he co-created a podcast, Mattastrophic Music, with his partner-in-Positively-Cosmic-Campfires, Duffie.

Once upon a time ago, he was an avid Long Distance Runner, having spent 4,000 consecutive days running at least 2 1/2 miles. Now, he is mostly retired, although there may yet be a marathon or a mountain to climb in his future.

Along with the help of his fellow comrades: Christina Hopkins & Corey Hickok, MR4K established Disasterpiece Press in 2011. The first novel published under the imprint is "the last good story.", a horrific ballad of ponderous consequences.

What comes next for Disasterpiece Press?
Digital prints and audio books of the many scary stories MR4K has been cooking up for the past decade. With a target release of 2024, an unholy 13 years since the publication of TLGS, what sort of nightmares will be unleashed upon the readers & listeners?

MR4K does not eat cilantro.
