In "Evolution," the sixth in the Frontiers Saga Part 3, author Ryk Brown takes a bit of a detour. He and his fellow captains successfully purloined a couple of massive jump gates that make transportation to their base on the newly settled planet of Libertara possible. It was a big job with a very little chance of success. Of course, the Aurora's captain, Nathan Scott, pulled it off with his legendary good luck. In this installment, the expanding group surrounding the Aurora must come up with a plan to deal with the increasing threats and try to develop their new assets into something more than boat anchors. The new ships need retrofitting, people need purpose and the fringe worlds still need protection. In the meantime, the Alliance has unleashed the private army that targets any threat to its governance. And Nathan Scott is enemy No. 1. Still, Brown throws in a variable that the Aurora stumbles upon almost by accident. The new threat comes not from another group out to kill him and those he serves with but from a mystery found on a random spacecraft in need of assistance. Plus, Brown throws in some pretty interesting developments.
