A combination of two of Marks' Kindle Single bestsellers: “The Hated” explores a different side of East Hampton, rife with crimes of violence, vicious gangs and secret organizations. “A Man’s Partner” brings Jericho back to his old precinct, East Harlem, where he must investigate his partner’s death, much like the noir fiction detective, Sam Spade. As in all Jericho books, the reader should be prepared for a shocking ending.
I liked Jericho a character who was loyal to his friends, and powerful to the cause of justice. The two short stories were well written and a good read.
Wasn’t impressed. Didn’t care about the characters. Jericho, for being an experienced cop, seems like a rookie. The first story, The Hated, seemed obvious as to what happened. Shaving his head and getting a tattoo seems to be a little extreme to go undercover. The second was like rookie time again. I can understand wanting to avenge your partner as the prime motivation of the story. But the details left something to be desired. Finding the lost mythical subway station only took about 10 minutes? How lost was it? Won’t be reading anymore by this author.
Two quick reads. A former detectives partner supposedly killed himself. This was completely out of character An investigation ensued, and it was determined that the death was forced upon the detective. Either he died, or his family did. Great characters , you really felt empathy for them. Following this author.
Both of the stories in this book are so well written. They are thrilling to read. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Detective Jericho is now one of my two favorite detectives.
I did not care for the first story the hated. It just seemed too bizarre. The second story was much better. I liked the main character Jericho. He was very determined and brave. Not to bad of a read.
This is a review of A Man's Partner. What an intense story. Jericho is convinced his former partner did not commit suicide. He conducts a dangerous investigation to prove it.
