Wales is a country full of myths and legends. This is a collection of five famous folk stories from Wales: Twm Sion Cati, the legendary highwayman who loved to play tricks; Branwen and Bendigeidfran, the giant who walked across the sea from Wales to Ireland; Macsen (Maximus), the young emperor who traveled the world in search of his Welsh bride; Nel, the lady who lived in a lake and married a young shepherd boy and Rebecca's Daughters, a riotous band of men who destroyed tollgates by night.

Informative and direct. The book is primarily targeted at Welsh children. Some of the stories were new to me - I want to read more about Twm Sion Cati. A good introduction to some Welsh stories for young readers. The vocabulary is simple and at times dry. It was nice that the book mentioned locations by their name - that should help to ground the stories for Welsh readers.
