I actually read this book the first time in September 2002 when it was originally published. I fell in love with it and gave it to a friend of mine to read and I never got it back. But I've always remembered the title and decided to buy again and I'm so glad I did!
I love this story! I love how strong the characters are. I love that they both make mistakes but they figure it out. I love that they don't waste too much time making those mistakes. They try to find ways around their mistakes and take a little convincing, but they both stick to thier guns. They also humbly accept responsibility for their screw-ups. They're not perfect, but I truly feel that these two people are perfect for each other and when I read their HEA I believe it with all my heart.
It's not a typical 5 star read for me, but the truth is that for what it is - a category romance written over a decade ago - it's just engrossing. It's not a perfect book, but it's perfectly and unapologetically itself and I love that about it!
Heroine needs a baby to inherit her grandfather’s ranch. It was her refuge against an abusive father, and it’s her dream to live there. She hooks up with a rodeo cowboy in Vegas—and he tracks her down and insists on marrying her when he realizes he might have left her pregnant. He won’t abandon his child the way his mother abandoned him. There’s the ranch and their trust issues. Pretty good story.
