Bestselling Silhouette author and double Rita finalist Emilie Rose has sold 30+ projects to Harlequin/Silhouette since her first sale in 2001, and her books have been released in over 20 countries around the globe.
She's back to working a 9-5 job and writing is taking a backseat right now.
It was a well written good book. Story just flowed with realistic struggles and problems. Hero was 40 years old and heroine 33, i had slight problem with that. And also he was married to her best friend who died a couple of years back. So there was some very heavy comparing going on. Which I didn’t like. But both characters were very matured and I loved their friendship, and how the hero constantly supported her even though it was his worst nightmare situation. He was strong. Actually they both were. Epilogue was sweet but I wanted to read more about their baby, atleast the gender. Recommended.

I first read this in pb and have read it several times. It’s a friends to lovers romance, one where the main characters, Mercedes and Jared, truly care about each other. Jared is such a wonderful man and a true friend to Mercedes. They are good to each other and it’s only painful past events (Jared’s love, guilt and loss from the death of his wife and son and Mercedes rejection from her father and pretty much every man she’s dated) and kept them from allowing romantic love to flourish. Jared feels guilt at being attracted to his best friend. As widower of Mercedes pregnant best friend Chloe who died in a car accident, he thinks his caring and attraction are a betrayal to his family and potentially harmful to Mercedes. I like that Chloe was a good person and isn’t vilified just so the main characters have a HEA. I like that she’s been gone for years before this friendship turns romance. They’ve known each other for 11 years and Chloe’s been gone for 6. So not instalove or lust. It’s a discovery through circumstances, dealing with unresolved feelings and devotion to each other that really does make a happy ending. Sigh.
It was a wonderful read a classic best friends story, really liked where both lead characters are best friends before they go ahead in their relation,Mercedes has always being there for Jared and knows him inside out and Jared he also cares abt Mercedes more than anything really liked their friendship and how they did'nt want to lose their friendship and always tried hard to hole on to that friendship, their bond was deep and chemistry was awesome
When Jared Maxwell's wife and their child were killed years ago, their best friend, Mercedes Ashton, was there for him and was the only thing that kept him alive and sane. When Mercedes finds herself unexpectedly pregnant by a boyfriend who has skipped town, Jared doesn't think twice about standing by her and offering a marriage of convenience to his dear friend. Mercedes accepts, unsure of how she will hide her growing attraction to Jared. Little did she know that Jared was fighting his own attraction to her. Once the two of them confess secrets that they have painfully kept to themselves for years, they do so not knowing if those confessions will tear them apart or bring them closer together.
Both the characters were well developed, though it was really really difficult for him and painful cause it brings Cloe's and his son's memories back but he never leaves Mercedes alone really liked that he stuck with her through thick n thin like Mercedes stuck with him for 6 years after Cloe died
It is a very sweet, tender romance, with touching emotion and steamy sensuality Great read Recommend it
Not bad if you are into slightly cheesy very tension filled romance novels. I liked it well enough, just not my typical type of read, so I give it 4 stars.
