Comet 1947

Rate this book
A small Texas town is suddenly ground zero for a possible terrorist attack by a mixed and unusual sleeper cell that the FBI is trying desperately to get a handle on. Pulled inexplicably into the vortex by local escalating events, including murder, is social outcast Isadora Smith Calloway and her hauntingly beautiful granddaughter, Sky. It all starts when a strange looking animal, not quite a coyote and not quite a fox or a wolf, hobbles into town and rudely attacks anyone unlucky enough to be near his path. Anyone, that is, except Isadora Calloway. If town gossip can be relied upon, Isadora's whole life, from her birth in 1947, to the present, has abounded with animal tales that have kept the locals with plenty to talk about, for she is known to talk to animals. The new animal in town is just one more in a long list until large animals begin breaking out of zoos in Dallas and Ft. Worth, beach birds come to the inland town, and wild bears and leopards are spotted on quiet little streets. Something big is coming down and everyone soon senses it, especially two young FBI agents who have been forced to team up with Isadora and Sky in order to figure out what is going on. Things get wild and strange as it slowly dawns on all four of the major players that they are dealing with "covenant animals" and supernatural power beyond their control.
