Going to the chapel, and we’re … going to get left at the altar … I thought I had my life all planned out—great career, swanky condo, wonderful fiancé… A fiancé who did not show up to our wedding. A bride’s worst nightmare came true, live in front of all my family and friends. And his family and friends.
Ryan James was the cake topper on top of this wedding cake of humiliation. All I wanted was to clear everyone out of the venue, throw the hors d'oeuvres in the trash, then light the wedding cake on fire. But Ryan insisted on still holding cocktail hour. And the elaborate five-course meal I had planned. And dancing. I drew the line at cake cutting. Words were exchanged. Cake may or may not have been thrown. Someone might have been arrested. Too bad I rage-canceled the honeymoon. I would have loved to drown Ryan on a tropical beach.
All I wanted was a safe, boring marriage like my parents’. The only drama I needed in my life was helping my brides decide if they wanted to throw their grooms a bone and serve mini hamburgers during cocktail hour and trying to keep my elderly neighbors from blowing their pensions on the latest online dating scam.
But Ryan seemed to be everywhere, offering unasked-for opinions on menus, drinking all the sample cocktails, and offering to lick peach syrup off my… Ahem.
I wanted to wallow in peace. Not have a rebound with an obnoxious best man. Too bad he looks so good covered in frosting!
This is a full-length, stand-alone, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy and comes with a heaping side of wedding drama, a delectable best man, and a hopelessly romantic happily ever after!
These stories are like the very best of the very worst reality television: rich people behaving badly and the mere mortals caught up in their riptide. I loved Elsie, but she frustrated me so much. I couldn’t’ quite figure out where she got the idea that she was worth so little in a relationship. One hundred percent boss babe in her kitchen, but was willing to settle for such a horrible prospect for a life partner. Ryan took a little bit for me to really warm up to. He is a complete jerk at the beginning of this book and I was kind of hoping that Elsie would murder him. However, as we get to know him it’s easier to understand where a lot of that attitude and behavior has come from and it became pretty easy to love him. For a book without any Svenssons or Frosts and barely the appearance of a Holbrook, this had everything I’ve come to expect from those families and then some. It’s a Mel Brooks carnival ride that I sign on for every time the author has a new release. Already I can’t wait until we can do this again. I received a complimentary advance copy of this story through Booksprout.
Elsie is a wedding planner and this is her day to say her own marriage vows, so when her groom fails to show up, chaos ensues. The best man, billionaire Ryan James, is the one paying for all of his siblings’ weddings, so he wants to continue on to the reception and have a party since it’s all paid for. Needless to say, that may not work out well for the now ex-bride!
This is a fun gathering of all sorts of personalities that will keep the reader laughing or at least trying to suppress a smile! Grab your copy, meet the crazy families, and enjoy watching Elsie and Ryan finding a new unexpected path to happiness.
Crazy romance I loved this romance, excellent, unpredictable with each new marriage as the situations faced by Elsie, wedding planner, are delusional, even absurd at times. The families are as crazy as each other, and developing a romance in the midst of it all is heroic for Elsie and Ryan, knowing that at first they hate each other and spend their time crossing paths over weddings, under conditions which should not bring them closer. The story is very hot, tender and funny, especially once you understand who is who and in relation to whom because of the ex-fathers-in-law, mothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law. Last book of the series. Lots of drama. Ryans family almost competes with the Svenssons. Almost.
It was fun cute, and I absolutely adored the chinchilla and how Ryan was automatically comfortable with it. He is definitely a man child with extra ego to spare.
Elsie is strong and lacks self confidence at the same time. She sticks up for others but looks past her own troubles.
And the amount of times I wanted to slap some characters? An insane amount! 🤣🤣 Get your lives together Fiction people! 🤣
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭:
🍲 OW Drama 🍲 OM Drama 🍲 Family Drama 🍲 Big confusing families 🍲 Cheating( not main characters) 🍲 Over 30 MCs 🍲 Toy play 😉 🍲 He gives her a Nickname
This series started out pretty decent but these last two books weren't great. In the last book, Sophie was a complete push over and Wolf was kinda a dick, and in this book Elsie was kinda a bitch. I get that getting left at the alter wasn't great for her but she treated everyone like shit and was always going off on people and being completely irrational and full of drama even though she kept claiming she hated drama and was the rational one. Like sure whatever helps you sleep at night. I did like Ryan though. He was a nice caring guy though he didn't make the best decisions. That said, this book was much better than the last one. I give this one a 3.5.
Yeah..... This was my least favorite book of the series.
I couldn't stand Elsie in this book mostly because she was a stubborn hothead who who refused to talk things out and get the truth before jumping to conclusions. Oh my god sheS the queen of jumping to conclusions. Like 60% of the book is her hearing something second hand and then immediately believing that thing happened without seeing for herself if its true. Happened more than once with Ryan and Carla and continued to happen because the problem was never fully cleared up, just thrown some sex at it and tadah! Problem buried. Turns out she didn't care, they are just freiends and it really doesn't matter to her. Oh it very much matters to her and we just get pages and pages of rants about Ryan. Someone is in stage 6 denial and we all have to suffer.
Something that really pissed me off is the Chinchilla babysitting situation. She's total bitch about the whole thing, refusing to listen to him that it was just an accident and that he tried to fix it but once again, she doesn't listen or believe him and accuses him of trying to kill her pet. Only when Cornelia pulls the same stunt with her does she realize that he was telling the truth about her doggy paddling chinchilla. Does she apologize for her mistake? Hell no. You know what she does instead? ADMITS SHE UNDERSTANDS THE ALLURE OF USING FLOUR. hmm so it looks like Ryan did the best he fawking could UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES and that you would have done the exact freaking thing if you didn't have the special chinchilla dust. So its just a Hehe its a cute mistake when I do it but when you doooo it, its unforgivable. Ryan should have been more mad tbh but instead he ended up taking the high road and helping her out. And then making out. I was so mad on his behalf that I wanted to scream. This moment and several others made me want to scream in frustration because she's an adult and yet she doesn't act like one.
I don't know if I read this right but Ryan being 22 and Elsie being in her thirties was.... An interesting choice. The way she was acting had me believe that Ryan was the one in his thirties and she was in her twenties because of how immature she was

To all the single ladies out there who, like me, will only experience marriage through romance novels. We should meet up for dinners.
“Hot guy who can make pasts like a machine? Girl, he is exactly your type.”
I wasn’t the type of girl men wanted to date, casually or otherwise.
This was a fun and entertaining story of Ryan and Elsie’s love story. It had me giggling and smiling throughout the book. I couldn’t stand Elsie’s family besides Molly; but at times Molly did annoy me. Ryan sure did have a huge family. It was hard to keep track at times. The story did feel a little longer than it needed to be. 3.5 stars.
Marriage and Mimosas has some great moments where Jacobs’ ability to mine humor is in full flourish, and I laughed out loud on several occasions at its antics. But it’s got a frenetic, repetitive pace, and I ended up feeling exhausted reading it.
Ryan and Elsie come from the ultimate in blended families, as their parents have all married multiple times. So they keep encountering one another at the many, many weddings their siblings and half-siblings arrange, several of which are to one another. (I found it really hard to keep track of who was related to whom in these multiple weddings). And that proximity leads to more than just a casual interest.
I wanted to enjoy this book more than I did. Certain points, like Ryan being a billionaire (although he never seemed to work) or Elsie being on the heavy side, were hammered home so many times as to be wearying. Many of the characters are basically one-note caricatures. I think Jacobs was aiming for humor with that, but they weren’t real enough for me to care.
And Ryan and Elsie’s love seemed to come out of nowhere considering she was just out of a relationship and he never wanted one. Ryan in particular flipped on a dime from wanting no one to devotedly chasing Elsie. Add to this sex-obsessed friends and elders, along with a teen character who’s there to help drive the plot and then conveniently disappears after that, and it made me feel like a lot more could have been done with this story.
I’ve enjoyed some of Jacobs’ books in the past. Alas, Marriage and Mimosas was a misfire for me.
Elsie was a successful businesswoman, and on of a team of women who ran a sought-after high-end wedding planning business in Manhattan. So, on the day of her wedding she was sure her friends could handle any little crisis that might arise. Unfortunately, the one issue her friends could not resolve is the absent groom. Ryan is really wondering why he is attending yet another wedding, so when his brother is a no show for his own wedding, he decides that he is going to keep the party going and grab a to go box, he is paying for it after all. The last thing he expected is for his almost sister-in-law to go crazy and attack him. These are all well written, compelling, probably pretty realistic, especially when it comes to weddings now days, and hysterically funny characters. Poor Elsie is left standing at the alter by the man with whom she planned on having a safe, maybe even boring marriage like her parents, but his brother Ryan is anything but safe, he is definitely not boring, and he makes it clear that he is interested in her. Ryan is determined to stay single, but Elsie changes his mind. He just has to convince her that she doesn’t want safe and boring. This is a laugh out loud funny steamy romance with some unexpected and funny twists in the plot that kept me laughing. This is definitely a must read, and I highly recommend this book.

Marriage and Mimosas book 6 of the Weddings in the City series by Alina Jacobs; let me just say ANY book that the author is Alina Jacobs DON’T question, just click that button you absolutely will not be disappointed! An amazing author, her stories will take you on wonderful trips. You feel as if you are part of the family, you will go through each and every emotion that every member of the story goes through. Marriage and Mimosas is Elsie and Ryan’s story, you are going to laugh, sigh, feel happy, feel sad, and get down right angry. Elsie is the over the top amazing chef of the Weddings in the City and she is left at the alter at her own wedding. Ryan is a billionaire that has about the most mixed up crazy family (I mean really crazy family) that is extended beyond anything you can even imagine, and of course he is pretty cocky, sure and full of himself, extremely smart, but he can also be very giving, in fact he is and has paid for and continues to pay for his families weddings. Oh, did I mentioned he is unbelievably gorgeous!! Their story is full of drama, confusion, anger, users, laughter, banter, off the charts chemistry. This is a must read. This is the sixth book in this series. This is Elsie’s story. The last of the Weddings in the City women to find their Happily Ever After. It starts out with her being left at the alter by the man child Wils. He was just with her for the great food and her help with his business. He leaves her in the hands of his stepbrother Ryan. Who is the most successful of the many stepmothers and stepfathers and step/half brothers and sisters. Elsie is too busy with business to have a breakdown so she soldiers on cooking and catering to all the brides. Including her own sisters and many, many of Ryan’s relatives. Since he is a billionaire they all look to him for financial help. And the fun just keeps coming. They are attracted to one another. But Ryan is a commitment phobe. And Elsie is a planner who wants a lifelong partner. Can they meet in the middle? Will Ryan’s past scare Elsie off? Will Elsie cave to her mother’s demands? I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is laugh out loud funny. And hot and steamy too. I did receive an advance copy for my honest review.
This is the 6th book in the Weddings In The City series featuring the enemies to lovers zany rom-com between Ryan and Elsie. Elsie runs a successful in-demand upscale wedding planning business in NYC and it's finally her turn it's her wedding day only the groom decides not to show up. Ryan is asking himself why he's at another wedding when his brother fails to show up he decides that they should keep the party going and he'll take his to go since he's the one who's paying for everything anyway. Ryan didn't realize that his decision would affect Elsie as much as it did I mean she went nuts and attacked him but who can blame her after the humiliation that she's suffered. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. I will say that this book is laugh out loud funny and you really need to read it to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Elsie is part of the Weddings In The City team, and it is her wedding but the groom does not show up. Ryan is the Best Man and is paying for all his step-siblings weddings, so he is up for continuing with the reception as it is already paid for. These two butt heads but the personalities start to open up for more. The characters are a chaotic mix of all the crazy traits of large cities, even the elderly group she works with, trying to keep them from bad dating sites online. The storyline has drama, big laughs, entertaining situations, feelings growing, big decisions, a returning ex, and high hopes for something better. Loved how they worked things out and the pet was interesting. Terrific ending and great addition to the authors lineup of books.

Marvelous Mayhem with a Moxie Chinchilla! It’s another Alina Jacobs Story…nuff said. Go. Buy. Read. Laugh. A lot. Oh ok. This one features the chef, Elsie of Weddings in the City and Ryan, the ATM (aka Billionaire) who’s paying for all the weddings of his stepbrothers/sisters in this book and keeps throwing Elsie and Ryan and Cordelia (infamous chinchilla)together. If thrown together enough and finding out there’s an attraction amongst the three, ya start wondering if priorities and spreadsheets can change. Hmmmm?! I’m highly recommending this and all of Alina’s multitude of books and storylines. None are disappointing, IMHO. GO. Read. Be happy. PEACE.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Alinas books. This is the last book in the weddings in the city series (can be a standalone novel in their own right). The characters are very relatable and storyline is believable. I shed many emotions right down to biting my nails over all the twists and turns I read. The author definitely knows how to capture our hearts and minds, and also has just the right amount of spice balanced by mystery. Overall, I'd recommend you read this book (plus others in this series). If I’m feeling stressed or down, Alina Jacobs is my go-to author to turn my day around! Her books never fail to cheer me up and this one is no exception. I just adore her quirky characters, animal side-kicks and the mayhem and madness that inevitably ensues when the hero and heroine’s worlds collide. In this book, the bridezilla antics are simply hilarious! Despite finding Ryan rather obnoxious at the start of the book, once you learn more about his family and upbringing, his dismissive attitude towards marriage makes a lot more sense and his character really grows on you. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next instalment in the series.
Elsie and Ryan's story gets off to a crazy start when she is left at the altar by his step-brother. When things heat up between them, there might be a connection neither of them saw coming. This - like all of Alina's other books - is fun and funny with some crazy moments and hilarious banter.
Elsie and Ryan both have their flaws and issues. She didn't always value her opinion and worth in her relationship and he was kind of a jerk to start. However, you do see some growth and change as their relationship develops.
This was an easy and entertaining read and I really enjoyed it!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
OMG this took me forever to read cause I kept stopping due to laughing uncontrollably and not being able to breathe! Elsie’s meltdown at Breighton dumped on her wedding day sets the tone for this hilarious romcom. Ryan the grooms step brother is so funny, and clearly attracted to Elsie. Cordelia the chinchilla is a star and the oldies at Elsie’s apartment block will leave you weak from laughing at their antics. This is a crazy OTT laugh a minute rollercoaster read and I want more!! The funniest sexiest romcom.

. Ryan is related to Elsie's ex who dumped her at their wedding. She does wedding planning and catering for a living and they come across each other at several family events. There's a big, dysfunctional family and lots of ex-step-relatives and it may be a little difficult to keep track of who's who if you're not paying attention. She's mad at Ryan for owning a dating site on which some people scam the elderly. But he's pretty hot and her ex is a moocher. This story is amusing if a little exhausting, occasionally, due to excessive family drama. Some sexual content.

The sixth novel in Alina Jacobs' Weddings in the City series, Marriage and Mimosas is another laugh-out-loud, steamy rom-com with outrageous characters and an entertaining journey to an HEA. Said journey involves wedding planner Elsie becoming a jilted bride and finding love with the would-be best man, Ryan. Along the way, you want to strangle Ryan a few times and shake Elsie just as many, but it says something for character growth that you find yourself pulling for them and their romance to the end. An entertaining, funny, steamy novel.

What a mess of a wedding. The groom decides not to show at the last minute. Ryan is the best man and encourages the families and guests to partake in the reception, since he paid for it. Elsie is the chef of Weddings in the City and fears their reputation is going to take a hit. Since Ryan is loaded, he gets volunteered to pay for the weddings for his siblings. He figures if he paid for it, he should be involved and make choices. It’s a really cute story but unfortunately, its too long and requires a dedicated reader to finish it.

Elsie is the chef for Weddings in the City and she is a curvy woman. Ryan is a billionaire and has an over-the-top, wacky family. So many weddings. So many divorces. So many exes. Everywhere. Elsie keeps running into the gorgeous Ryan while catering weddings and engagements for his big family. So many weddings. He seems attracted to Elsie but it can't be true. Why would he want someone who doesn't look like a stick figure. And don't forget Cordelia, the rodent. This story was so funny, the dialogue was hysterical, and Cordelia was so cute. So very, very highly recommended.
If you ever want to get married do NOT read this book it will put you off big weddings for life . Mixed families , cheating brides and grooms, bridzillas and mother of the bride devils .... with a family like this who needs enemies ? If you want to split your sides laughing this is perfect for you ..Romantic ?? not a chance oh and add in horny senior citizens and spoilt rodents and you have Marriage and mimosas.

I need a mimosa after reading this. Weddings, engagement parties, and exes galore. This is exactly the sort of zaniness that one can expect from Alina Jacobs. You have a mother competing with her friends, a father ignoring everyone, one sided sibling rivalries, the brides accepting less than what they deserve because they think it’s all they can get. The wacky octogenarians are meddling. You feel like the rollercoaster is about derail at any moment but it holds on. Ryan and Elsie have plenty of chances for romance that were sweet.
I really enjoyed this romance. At the beginning, I though Ryan was a total jerk - but I liked him more as the story went on. At the heart of it, he is a good guy though he didn’t change a whole ton throughout the story. Elsie was a sweetheart and I adored her friends. I giggled my way through this book I as things happened between Ryan and Elsie which are pretty unbelievable but also pretty funny.. I thought this book was entertaining and fun to read.

This was a super fun read. Elsie and Ryan's romance somehow manages to get you all up in your feels and swooning, while also making you laugh, wince and even occasionally cringe as the story unfolds. Zanny, cute, over-the-top and just a little bit extra, there is absolutely no way that you are reading this book without cracking up and having your whole day just seem a bit brighter. This is my freely posted, frank review.
Wils bails at the last minute and leaves Elsie stranded at their wedding. Ryan tries to sort things out - but doesnt want to get involved with anyone - all he wants is custody of his sister. So many twists and turns! Alina's stories always make me laugh - and that is wonderful! The characters are brilliant, and the story lines often hilarious!.
