Small is the new big.

I am so glad I came across this book. I realized I had been putting Silicon Valley in a bit of a pedestal and forget that really, entrepreneurship happens elsewhere too. This book has a lot of insights into not only Silicon Valley start up life, but also into good pitches, pivoting, market research, etc. This is a great reference book as well for when someone needs to do a pitch, PowerPoint, investor meeting. It even went into some of the common mistakes investors have made. Overall, this is a 360 view that I highly recommend for anyone who is contemplating a jump into the start-up world, whether or not in Silicon Valley.

Sells the Valley to you then deconstructs the myths and legends, still leaving you slightly sold. An interesting and somewhat digestive read for those interested in startups and Silicon Valley. Not the best book if you’re looking for a page turner, but definitely helpful when gathering information.

Separating the myth (of SV) from the reality

If you're interested in separating the hype/myth of Silicon Valley from the reality, read this. I wish I had this book a decade ago when we started our first startup outside the Valley. It would have saved me a ton of wasted angst/envy/energy from the misinformed perspectives people have outside the Valley. having worked here these past few years, I'm learnt many of these same lessons through the school of hard knocks.
