Ignoring the catastrophic failures/hindrances in his journey and persisting towards his goal , being at the pinnacle of success yet humble in sharing the most intimate aspects of his life ....this is really a rewarding experience to read about the first billionaire of Nepal Mr. Binod Chaudhary.

The events that led to the foundation of the CG group begin with the migration of the Marwari or “Maade” community to Nepal. The support and unbiased attitude of the Monarch inspite of the uncalled rivalry of locals and surprisingly a natural calamity.

The Legacy of his family and many other big names encountered in this journey is so fascinating specially chance meeting with Sri Sri Ravishankarji, Partnership with Taj & Re-beginning. Most unique feature is the author self-evaluating his short-comings and accepting such vulnerabilities is bold & impressive for a person of his stature. Though I have read few this is going to be one of my favourite Memoirs ❤️

This book is unputdownable and you will nowhere find any thing remotely dull. Really thankful to Mr Binod Chaudhary who has shared through his memoir accounts of his life which is uplifting and engrossing.

This book highlights the importance of PRs in the business world. Mr. Binod literally got all of his work done by calling someone from his contacts. It did feel a bit annoying sometimes.

Tbh, I would jave preferred to read the story of his father or grandfather. Mr. Binod seemed like a spoiled brat to me, like when demanded cars from his father.

But still, the book did teach me a few corporate lessons. This book is a good read for those who are looking to enter the corporate world. But for me, it was a monotonous read.

A real inspiring autobiography which details the life journey of an humble entrepreneur in his own words where he explains candidly as to how he made himself a billionaire. This is a 400 odd page book but trust me, it gives the insights of what a "shrewd" businessman should be. They say "Castles aren't built overnight" and unlike in a movie, where the hero becomes a multi billionaire in just over a song, Binod Chaudhary, the first billionaire from Nepal took few decades to become one and he is going strong by leaps and bounds with no looking back.

The book is divided into 4 parts namely:
1. Birth
2. The Ascent
3. Rebirth and
4. My Business Mantras

The book begins with his horrific experience in Chile where he get caught in a massive earthquake which almost looked like a perfect thriller story, but in this case, was a real one. The book details out the differential kind of treatment, the Marwari communities received in Nepal. He also points out subtly the inner caste differences when author tried to get married to the girl who he loved the most. Though he succeeded in claiming her hand, the trouble he had to go through were cumbersome.

Strangely, I felt a lot of connect with the book. One of them being, my parents never wanted to send me the boarding school though they used that as a weapon whenever I quarreled with my sibling. On the other hand, author, who had 3 sons sent each of them to the best boarding school in India which has helped them in becoming what they are today looking after the family businesses in Nepal, Singapore and Dubai.

There are lot of takeaways from this book which ranges from managerial to psychological. You would also clearly understand that becoming a tycoon is no easy job and you have to brave the tides along the way as you may tend to get disturbed through various quarters/directions which includes politics.

Also, to become a successful businessman, one has to be good in negotiations and also to grab the right opportunities at the right time apart from diversifying the business which is what he did which saw him transform his garment business to other verticals which includes Automobile, Banking, Beverages, Cigarettes, Discotheque, Food, Hotels, Malls and School among others.

His affinity towards cars and relationship with various world leaders and his spiritual guru apart from taking a plunge in politics were explained in great detail in this book.

What attracted me the most was his transformation of watching "Taj Palace Hotel" in Mumbai to becoming a partner of the Taj Asia and staying in the suite in the same hotel and recollecting the past would go a long way in inspiring today's striving entrepreneurs and young minds to become successful.

Even though this book was released in 2016, I had the opportunity only to grab it 5 years later but I have no regrets since I believe in " It is better late than never".

Making It Big is an astounding book written by Binod Chaudhary.
Basically it is an autobiography of the man behind the incredibly popular Wai Wai Noodles and the Chaudhary Groups. The book is really very inspiring and is divided into four sections - Birth, The Ascent, Rebirth and My Business Mantras. The author has described his journey of life in a very unique, detailed and impressive manner that the reader can easily connect to it. Everyone goes through ups and downs in life and the author also talked about the ups and downs in his journey. The language used is lucid and easy to understand. At first the book seemed a bit lengthy to me but as I turned the pages, I was intrigued and was unable to put it down. The author has presented and written the book in an amazing manner and definitely deserves appreciation. The book is fast paced and is quite impeccable from all the aspects.
It will teach you about leadership skills, business strategies, management skills and many more things. I am damn sure you will be inspired by Nepal's first billionaire. If you are looking for some nice autobiographies, you should definitely pick this one. I would recommend this book to the beginners because of its easy to understand language. I am her sure that this book won't disappoint you!

It is a decent biography with some valuable insights. Family history of Mr Chaudhary was quite appealing to me. This book also goes into some depth about the culture of Kathmandu and the lives of the rich elite.
Timelines and recounting the event of the past were a bit messed up and I often found myself struggling to figure it out. There are places in the book where Mr Chaudhary has tried to keep details quite vague as if to hide something important.
Mr Chaudhary has risen to such stature due to his strong family heritage and wise investments.

I recommend this book.

“Business is the most important thing to a businessman. I did what the regime politics of that hour compelled me to do. Everybody dominated me when I wanted to mind my own business. My investments and my determination came to naught. I became slightly shrewd for survival’s sake. They tried to do politics. We, as entrepreneurs, have to do this to survive in the ruthless realm of politics. “

– Binod Chaudhary, Making It Big

I rarely read non fiction especially autobiographies. This was a really inspiring read. The book covers the entire story of Binod Chaudhary in his own words.

The book provided a great insigt into the culture of Nepal. I badly want to visit Nepal one day. It was also interesting to learn about the wealthy of Nepal.

The politics of Nepal did get boring. I just didn’t know much about the politics or parties to enjoy it. Overall, the book could have been shorter. There were many things that seemed unnecessary. It is a 411 page and it could have been maybe 300 pages. The pictures in the book were definitely an added bonus.

Regardless, I enjoyed reading the book.

“A person feels moat dejected when, after a long journey, he falls flat on his face only a few steps short of his destination. I was like a student who could not pass an exam despite studying for an entire year. “

– Binod Chaudhary, Making It Big

I want to succeed as an entrepreneur one day and this book opened my eyes to many things. If you are looking to be a entrepreneur, look at this success story.

If you enjoy autobiographies, this is definitely for you.

Thanks to the author for the review copy.

The story revolves around Binod Chaudhary who is the first billionaire of Nepal and the founder of Wai Wai noodles .
.
‌The story starts from Kathmandu where author has shown that the things which are we so proud of could be snatched away in a single movement from us. He has talked about how is family sifted to Nepal from India prior to Independence how the got into the Nepali business. How his father & he tried to take up different and diverse business and there falls and rise.
.
I loved the part where author has talked about the India and Nepal's relationship and the stories connected to that. The teachings of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar are so motivating while reading this.
.
This memoir is full of struggles, passion, and teaching. His story is truly inspirational and engrossing. The way author has written his own fault is praiseworthy.
It's worth reading and learning from.

Pickup my dad’s read because I wonder how one can be a billionaire out of a country like Nepal knowing their political uproar history that severely affected the economics condition. Looking into the story of Nepal’s rich family and how the Chaudhary group grow and branch out into different sector in business. Binod’s grandfather started as a merchant selling textile then forced to end their business and sell the shop because of some internal issues. Then they open the first department store in Nepal known as Arun Emporium that sells the best local handicrafts and become one of their successful business. Later on, Binod produce the globally known WaiWai Instant Noodles that strongly contributed to Chaudhary Group.

Binod’s father then venture into other businesses like constructions however his effort did not give profitable return. However, they managed to widen their connection that later on become handy for their new business e.g. the case where Binod managed to get license through their royal connection and indirectly save him from the political reign. One thing that I learn from this book is to hold onto your dreams and have determination to get there. Do whatever you need to do before you can really do what you love and in Binod’s case, his soul as true entrepreneur.

I’m not gonna lie, not a big fan of this book and I feel like it’s unnecessarily long. They can actually cut down some unrelated details and focus on the real massage behind the autobiography because truthfully I don’t understand Nepal’s language. I feel like most of the part, they just get lucky because no one have such resources and connection as the Chaudhary do at the time. I really look up to their persistency and bravery to ask for what they want and to pursue their plans no matter what stopping them. Overall, I would only recommend if you’re into entrepreneur kind of biography and have patience.

"Establishing an ambitious goal for oneself can be daunting, but one must rise to the challenge." - Binod Chaudhary, Making It Big

Making It Big is a memoir that talks about Mr. Binod Chaudhary's journey from stepping into his father's shoes with a family business in Nepal to becoming Nepal's first billionaire. The president of Chaudhary Group, he is a prominent figure in the business world and the man behind the famous Wai Wai Noodles. He discusses all the major details leading up to his success in this book. From entrepreneurs trying to find their footing in the business world to someone simply looking for an insight into the life of a successful businessman, there's a takeaway for everyone in here.

Something about this book that really stood out to me, as a reader, was the writing. It was almost flawless and the narration didn't turn boring at any point despite it being a non-fiction. From a school project that initially brought out his skill and love for business to taking his business to a multinational level, there's a flow to the narrative and is engaging. I liked how he discussed several of his strategies throughout the book- ones that got him out of certain business troubles or ones that have been turning points to his career thereby putting him on the top of his game. Those were some good insights to read about. He also touches upon his personal life quite a bit and closes the book with a few of his business mantras and self-evaluation which was an interesting addition.

The only downside, I would say, is its length. The book is on the lengthier side, and despite every detail adding something to the overall experience, I did feel like a condensed version of certain parts of the narrative could've retained my attention better. The detailed account of everything might interest some readers, but I would certainly have preferred a briefer record.

Rome wasn't built in a day

And so is every capable individual!

Binod Chaudhary was like every normal person, but his mind-set towards existence made all of the changes. He never surrendered to the hurdles of life, instead became a gaint wave and washed them off.

The story of Binod Chaudhary from being a simple man to a billionaire in Nepal gives you a two fold reading experience about the way existence imposes demanding situations:- personally and professionally. Also the way do we take care of them while adversities wave stronger. We do say, hardships make us robust and willing to attain hieghts. However it's not that smooth enough to confront them with a 'never give up' mind. Also, the most effective challenge, brings out the best warrior in you.

The memoir in approximately 400 pages, do not just make you feel the conditions, it simply makes you tour emotionally, mentally or even spiritually ( by the mentioning his guru Shri Shri Ravishankar) and through the stories of business politics. The language is quite convincing. The book seems to be a torch bearer to every reader and leader, that covers the historical past, transition and conquering of hieghts, in a vast period of time.
The inspiring part became his secrets or mantras cited at the end of this book. Normally billionaires hesitate to share their secrets and techniques but upon analyzing you will get to realize that he has been very open and gave the impression of narrating his life lessons to a friend.

The book won't dissapoint you in any manner and so, clutch it now!

📍Making it big is an autobiography of Binod Chaudhary, the man behind the popular wai wai noodles and the Chaudhari group.
This book talks about the journey of Wai wai noodles which has tremendously changed his life. Even he throws light on his personal life too.
There is no doubt in the fact that, hardships are faced by everybody. He talked about all the ups and downs he faced during his journey. It was not easy for him to deal with the hardships in the mid but still he made it.

📍Success without failures is not possible and in order to get that success you have to come out of your comfort zone!

📍The book is divided into four parts and each part has its significance. In the mid, he has also mentioned the India-Nepal relationship, which added a texture to this book.He has beautifully expressed the significance so as to make this generation learn . The book is written in a very easy level English, which can be easily read by everybody. I truelly loved the way, the whole story is mentioned in one book. Even there was no part where i felt that i am getting bored.

📍Though the page count is quite more , but as soon you will start reading, the book will actually start looking very short as the author has presented the story in the way that , right from the start till the end everything is very systematic yet appealing.
I just loved this book, and even the cover is very beautiful.

Everyone witnessed the success of person behind Wai Wai noodles.Binod Chaudhary is called as first BILLIONAIRE of Nepal. But not many know his journey of ups and downs. Through this book one gets to learn about the life, journey, hardships, and business and more about Binod Chaudhary. This autobiography sets an inspiration to many.
In this book the speaker explains in uncut way about how he made himself as billionaire. The book starts as suspense, where the speaker is seen stuck in an earthquake gradually his life story is revealed.
The book is divided into 4 parts that describe phases of life of the speaker starting from birth to self-evaluation of business ideas. I liked the way how the speaker has battled to gain position in profession. His relationship with Guru Sri Ravi Shankar shows the spirituality and mindfulness in work .Also the differences typical Marwari faced in Nepal is explained well.
The book has much to teach. It mainly focuses on how to use the opportunity at right time in order to fulfill our dreams and ways to overcome business politics. Overall the book holds everything in detail and writing style is impressive. More interesting part is that original photographs of Binod from childhood to prominent live memories are attached in the book.
The narration is interesting, language is easy to understand.Honestly, and the title fits in perfectly. I enjoyed the book and learnt a lot .A best book to pick up.

‘Making it big’ is a phenomenal autobiography by Binod Chaudhary. He is the man behind Wai wai noodles and president of Chaudhary Group( which deals in banking, insurance, finance and building.)

Binod Chaudhary became the first Nepali entrepreneur to be named as a dollar billionaire by Forbes. His enthusiasm for expanding his business, in the face of tough challenges, is applaudable.

For those who like reading about personalities who are an enigma, this book delivers good insights. From a content perspective, this book is overwhelming. The business techniques that he had used to enrich his businesses are very enlightening.

The book promptly draws you into the world that Binod Chaudhary created. I love the way the author has weaved stories of human relationships, emotions and passion with that of business gambles and its consequences. I was very impressed with the detailing around every story in the book.

What influences me the most is the level of detailing the book has, the identification of most important events in author's life and the history of Nepal, so many great side-stories and tales, and a persuasive intuition. Nepal'smade one of Nepal's first billionaire.

An inspiring read.

"Making It Big" by Binod Chaudhary is an inspirational autobiography which describe the life journey of Nepal's first billionaire.

Biographies & Autobiographies are my favorite genres because from these types of reads you always learn from others and these are the type of non-fictional genres and we read and experience real world situations.

Making it big, book completely lived up to my expectations. I learnt many things from Binod Sir life journey, it inspires you in all aspects, in all manners I enjoyed every phase of the life of Binod sir.
Book encapsulates all struggles and successes of author's life that how he managed all things in his struggling days and what things he do to expand his business and establish himself as a great capitalist. Each and everything is learnable in this book.
By the size and page count of the book, its look like lengthy read but when you start reading the book then it become short read because we fully drowns in author's life journey.

Writing style and language of the book is lucid and easy to understand, all things are encapsulated very well.
I totally enjoyed the book and it included in my favorite reads list in Inspirational and autobiography genre.
It will be worth read for all so grab your copy and enjoy the read.

Review: The book begins with the author's encounter with life's struggles and his luck! He talks about his parents; mother dieing of cancer and his father also diagnosed with the cancer of the tongue after 16 years of his mother's death; his passions for music and cinema because of Narayan Prasad Shresta; his craziness for football, volleyball, table tennis and squash.

The book very well explains the role of local managers in expanding the business as they understand the mindset of local competitors, instead of relying heavily on foreign executives and technicians.

The author showcases his business resilience during 2004, when it was not easy to run a business as the entire nation was frequently brought under to a grinding halt by the armed conflict and the general strikes by various political groups, also still managed to run the industrial park complex @ Nawalpari (Maoist controlled area in those days)

He also narrates his encounters with politics, his role as a founding member of SAARC chamber of commerce and Industry, acquiring 30% stake in Alila brand to expand business in other areas among others.

This book is a good one who want to be entrepreneurs or from business background.

Making it Big is an inspiring story of Nepal's first billionaire Binod Chaudhary and the foundation of the grand Chaudhary enterprises.

The book starts with a scary incident of him and his wife trapped in a scary and life threatning earthquake on a trip. The book talks about how Marwari community came and grow in Nepal. Reading about his grandfather and father journey reminded me of the stories I heard about my grandparents journey. It's the smallest details like cashbox with swatiska or opening the shop early to connect with community.

Story progress to his childhood, his early introduction to business mindset to his love life, marriage and family. Story then went to show the importance of making good connection with people if you are looking to expand and do good business. The business mindset and always thinking ahead for business and family is something I was really impressed with.

The language is pretty lucid. Narration of the story was the highlight for me throughout the book. Although it's not come with your typical corporate do's and don'ts in it, it still teaches a lot. Family values, making connection and creating a brand from ground up. A good read if you are looking for some inspiration to dive into new business.

Making It Big!
The book chronicles his journey on to becoming a billionaire by help us delve into the life and get us know about him.
This is a generous read and story of Binod Chaudhary who managed to rise and shine, because of effort, creativity and tactics.
Besides being inspiring, straightforward, in turn possibly acts as motivational read with an insider account into what, why and How of doing a business. The style of writing is it avoids linear approach and takes onto weave around to connect multiple emotions. The chapters are chronologically placed under the titles. This is light and interesting read. It takes onto things under sun with nothing out of box, but surely some good old struggles into establishing things. This seemed interesting to me as an outsider this surely says a lot of Nepal and its culture. In the end, it is both entertaining and informative on to understanding about company; wai-wai noodles. The final verdict is go for it, if you love reading biography and memoirs. Love reading about success stories of other people.

This is the autobiography of Nepal's first billionaire Binod Chaudhary, the founder if Wai Wai Noodles and the CG group. The author has shared very minute details of his life from the struggles he faced while starting his new business to becoming a successful global entrepreneur.

The book covers details from the pre-independent era, the politics of Nepal, the relationship between India and Nepal and the teachings of Sri Sri Ravishankar which is very motivating.

I liked the way the author has included his Business Mantras which could prove to be very beneficial for the budding entrepreneurs. And the way he has provided the self-evaluation shows how down to earth person he is.

This book will be useful to everyone who wants to succeed in their business and life given you apply the valuable advice that is furnished by the author. I have read many memoirs but this one no doubt the best so far. I loved this book and I recommend it to everyone.

The story is about Binod Chaudhary who is the first billionaire of Nepal. I enjoyed reading this book because I learn one thing from this book is to hold onto your dreams and have the determination to get there. The events that led to the foundation of the CG group begin with the migration of the Marwari or “Maade” community to Nepal. The author also shared every detail in a good way about how he started his new business and how he become a successful global entrepreneur.

This book also goes into some depth about the culture of Kathmandu and the lives of the rich elite. The most unique feature is the author self-evaluating his short-comings and accepting such vulnerabilities is bold & impressive for a person of his stature. This memoir is full of struggles, passion, and teaching. I loved this book and I really would recommend this amazing to every fellow reader.
