Damaged Billionaire Protector

Rate this book
As an ex Navy SEAL and firefighter, I’m always in control… until I meet my little sister’s best friend.

The firecracker of a woman told me she can take care of herself when my protective nature came off too strong.

That’s fine. She seems like a handful anyway.

But living across the street from her, I see her all the time.

I can’t stop thinking about her.

Plus my baby girl adores her.

As we get closer, the electricity between us is impossible to ignore.

We don’t even make it to the bedroom before clothes start dropping.

But we have to keep it a secret.

She changes my life more than anything, even compared to the billions I’ve inherited.

When she says she is leaving to go back to college and ends things, my whole world shatters.

I desperately want her back.

There’s no way I can lose her, especially when I find out she’s carrying my child.

Damaged Billionaire Protector is an enemies to lovers, best friend’s brother, surprise baby romance. No cheating, no cliffhangers. Just steamy enjoyment, HEA guaranteed and epilogue included! It contains some brief use of strong language. Enjoy!

cute storyline….but hard to follow some details..

This is a really nice storyline. It tends to linger on random incidents, almost dragging them out. And then all of the sudden it’s days later, felt erratic. The part where they first get together…I mean, what the actual heck? It went from zero to 100 pretty fast and then it’s total love. I’m all about instalove, but this felt forced, too many details in random places, and not enough where they would add to the chemistry of the H and h….better editing would have helped smooth this out…

Overall I enjoyed this story and would recommend the read.

The things that stopped me from marking as 4 or 5 star;

Much more internal dialogue than actual setting of scenes & conversation.I believe this contributed to a lack of characters depth so I couldn't connect with what was happening on the page. I wasn't upset by their breakup or routing for them to get back together.

No real concept of time. Hard to tell if hours, days or weeks have passed between most chapters.

I received Lexi Landon's book as an ARC reader and overall it was a great read. The synopsis was intriguing and I was hooked from the very first page. Landon packs a lot in just 150 something pages but it flows nicely. There is a lot of depth in her characters and the plot and surroundings are well thought out. This was a quick read for me not because it was short, but because Landon had me invested by her writing style. I rated it a 4.5 🌟 . It would have been a 5 star for me but I felt the ending was a bit rushed and for some reason it really bothered me that the pregnancy trope lead to the wedding instead of just their love for one another. I did enjoy very much how Landon paralleled Amber's relationship with her father and Chase's relationship with his daughter Hailee. Also that people can co-parent with one another in a healthy way and not use their child to manipulate the other one; plus stay friends even if it did not work out in the marriage. I look forward to reading more of Lexi Landon works in the near future.

In this book we meet chase who is our male man character and even though he has wealth due to inheritance he has opted not to use that money to live on but rather for the future of his daughter which I think is a creative and novel approach to a billionaire romance.

Amber is his neighbour and Chases love interest in the end as this book combines the enemies to lovers and best friends brother troupes which are some of my favourite. We first meet amber because she has had to move in to her fathers house to sort through his stuff after his passing and the language used to describe her feelings during this time enables the reader to follow her path and empathise with her.

No matter what situation these two have to deal with there always seems to be elements that help you put yourself in their shoes, this is helped massively by the tempo of the plot and the flow of the writing.

Overall a good book with a bit of everything for romance readers no matter what takes your fancy

The first bar scene was ridiculous drama for no reason. No woman would EVER be embarrassed by someone sticking up for her. If she truly would class it as one of the most embarrassing moments in her life than she's lived a privileged life. The sister refusing to call her half brother's mom by her name just for the sake of being a jerk really made me mad. Especially when the brother didn't speak up. And the amount of time the heroine thinks "maybe I won't write him off completely yet"........ not one single thing he did was worth writing off. Especially a NEAT HOUSE

Another star off because all through the book I never know if it's the same day and time or not

“That’s enough excitement for one day.” I got off the bed and headed for the shower.
My phone on the nightstand lit up with a new message notification. It was from Amber. (It took a couple more sentences between the two characters to realize this was a new day)

I love a vulnerable, heartbroken, devoted single dad trying to do the best he can for his daughter. I also love an unexpected romance between two people who weren’t looking for love. With that being said, I LOVED this book.
Lexi Landon is a talented writer and brilliant storyteller. The characters are multifaceted and well crafted. Chase is the quintessential good guy…and absolutely gorgeous. Amber is his sister’s best friend, coming home to tend to matters following the death of her father. Sparks fly, but their journey is a beautiful slow burn with steady pacing and great flow. I loved the complicated family dynamics and the hilarious banter. The “family dinners” are the best.
I would have liked the end of the story to be played out a bit more because I think the characters have so much more to tell, but definitely 5 stars for me!

A good story, though not always easy to read. Amber’s dad died and while clearing up his affairs, her life was in limbo - stay in Chicago, her childhood home and make a new life or go back to her old life and school and get her degree? She finds a connection with Chase and Hailee she didn’t expect. Chase is a very regimented guy. He likes rules and schedules and he handles his life by having walls and compartmentalizing his feelings. He has dedicated his life to his daughter since his divorce and now has to make a choice - keep everything in as he has in the past or take a chance on letting his feelings out and growing his life bigger. Good read.

OMG!!! This book was great and it was a page turner and the suspense was like WOW!!! I could not stop reading this book or even put this book down. I was suck right in this story. Chase was a ex navy seal and he was a single father of a daughter and he meet a woman name Amber. Their chemistry was like firework and the attraction was magic and the spark were flying between love and hate. It was forbidden love between Amber and Chase. It had pain, romance, love and even a secret or two. But you have to read it for your self to find out. I was not disappoint in reading this book.

I purchased this as part of a bundle called EX SEAL BILLIONAIRE PROTECTORS.

This one was lacking on the billionaire theme. He had money and put it in a trust for his daughter. He worked as a fireman and lived in a modest house. Plus only a few sentences about being a seal.

Characters needed more development. Most of their relationship together was off page. We are told all the things they did together, I wanted to experience it.

Lovemaking outside of marriage - heat level 4 out of 5.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, just a little drama from lack of communication, HEA, and steam. (ljb)

I finished this book extremely fast, literally within 4 hours of starting it.
It was very fast paced, the relationship between Amber and Chase is a great little love story.
Single dad, age gap, neighbours, best friends brother. It's literally a bit of everything.
Definitely worth a read, it's a genuine make you feel good book and it's a light and fluffy quick read for when you need it.
Dual POV too and well written.

This was a Single Dad, Fire Service Men, Age Gap and Best Friend's Brother Trope.
Before I start I didn't really get the enemies vibe to be honest, so I think that is wrong to say.

However this was a really good feel good short story. It was about two people going through different struggles in life and find happiness in each other.
There was little conflict but was soon sorted.
If you want a quick easy read with some steam then this book is recommended.

I received this book from the author and am happily reviewing it. I absolutely loved this book and would thoroughly recommend it hoping others enjoy it as much as I did. Brilliant characters in Amber and Chase who meet through Madison Chase's sister and Amber's best friend. Helping these two connect is Hailee Chase's daughter who really likes Amber. Can opposites attract and can these two really be together.

Amber is dealing with her father's affairs and trying to decide her next move when her friend introduces her to her brother. Chase is a single father raising a cute little girl. Its not long before things progress between them. Will she decide to stick around for them?

This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.'

This was an easy quick read. Chase and Amber try to ignore their attraction to each other. Both are in places in their lives where they think they don’t want to be in relationships. Chase is a single father with an adorable daughter who takes to Amber right away. How can Amber resist this hot Firefighter and sweet little girl. A sweet romance with some heat. Enjoyed it.

Having to put school on hold to take care of her dad's affairs, our grieving heroine takes a part time job in a bar. The first day on the job, she takes exception to her friend's brother trying to come to her rescue.....then the sparks fly! A few events and an overbearing mother play their part in causing problems, but reluctantly, I understand where her heart was. I really enjoyed this book!

Chase and Amber Neighbors to Lovers

The story was mostly a progression of the developing relationship between Chase and Amber who happen to live across from each other. There are a few bumps in the road towards their HEA but in the end their interactions were emotional and steamy. It was a fun story to read.

I received and ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.

A HEA, protective billionaire, even an adorable little girl who just makes the whole story that much better. The entire book is so well written but then ending got me. The storyline was cute and had so much potential. Certain parts didn't feel natural or smooth. The ending was very abrupt which just felt different for me. All in all, a good story just needs a tiny bit more TLC. I will say this though Hailee was adorable and some of the things that came out of her mouth made me chuckle.

A quick read, and well written. While trying to process the death of her father Amber meets her friends older half brother and quickly their lives become intertwined. While the relationship moves fast the two make a wonderful couple and seem made for each other. Chase hits that hot dad sweet spot, as a man who only wants to be the best dad for his daughter and is inspired by Amber and her fathers relationship while also helping her heal from her lost. just wonderful.
