As punishment for a bad report card, Airy Fairy must travel to the Grimm house, sit atop their Christmas tree, and use only six spells to make them nicer people.
Margaret Ryan is a former teacher who has written over eighty books for children between the ages of five and eleven. She loves to enthuse children about books and won a Scottish Arts Council Award for her book, The Queen's Birthday Hat. She always includes the children in her audience by dressing them up as the characters in her story. She believes that author visits should be fun. She has had children's stories on T.V. and radio, and has also been commissioned to write books for schools, children's poetry, and a series of books for reluctant readers. Her books are translated into many different languages.
This little fairy gets into trouble but it works out in the end. Great for kids who frequently feel they "mess up". But just like I tell my little one, it is not that serious. It's good to laugh at yourself sometimes.
Airy fairy is a fairy for many wishes and it is Christmas so she is helping all around. There is a Christmas coming up for all of the fairies but she is not looking forward to it because her school report card is so bad that she has been sent to sit on top of a prickly Christmas tree. And limited on her spells to six to work some of her fairy magic to be able to go to the Christmas party. This book uses pictures to help the detail of the book. Explaining the book well through pictures and explanations to go along with them. I would rate this book a 3 because it is well detailed but not something I would choose for my students. It would be good in the second or third grade level when students are starting to read chapter books more. The book shows a good lesson to keep up with school lessons and be on top of your work. so it is a good lesson for younger students to read and learn from.
I'm sad that this is the last Airy Fairy book to read. I liked how Scary Fairy would always mess up Airy Fairy's magic spells so she would get into trouble, but Airy Fairy always does something in the end so it turns out alright. I would recommend these books for girls 5-8 year olds. They are easy to read, but they're fun to read too.
