IMAGINE is the second book of the Fuzed Trilogy. A man and woman stand on a South American cliff top overlooking the Atlantic. The muted sound of surf rises from below as they hold hands and gaze across the ocean. Silhouetted by the setting sun, hair tousled by a tropical breeze, it would be remarkably romantic ... if not for the end of the world."The tissue sample appears to contain a complete human genome ... but it's missing half of the normal DNA."The aircraft carrier INS Vishal's catapult launched Commander Mammen's Rafale fighter as the lead aircraft of the strike group. As he flipped on the Master Arm switch, the missile launch button was live, and with it, the ability to start World War III.A true story ... we hope never happen. Dave Stevens was a Navy Commander and nuclear-weapons qualified fighter pilot. He served as the Strike Operations Officer for the Persian Gulf and wIth advanced engineering degrees and a Top Secret clearance, led classified defense programs, test-piloted new F-18s and earned an aviation patent. He’s been to over 30 countries, 10 miles above the earth, 600 feet below the Atlantic and survived hundreds of his own carrier landings. An international speaker and USA TODAY bestselling author, he uses renowned experts – from astronauts and astrophysicists to intelligence operatives – to entertain and educate.
Just like the first book Imagine made you think beyond the book itself and the characters within it. I honestly can't wait for the next book to not only see what's next but to hopefully get answers to some questions. As for this installment it continues the story of the main characters adding a new danger. Like the first book it was very fast paced with little fluff. I can't recommend this trilogy enough.
AI, artificial intelligence, is still on the drawing board, but is finding its way into 21st century lives. Self driving vehicles, vacuums, cleaners, robots in automation, just to name a few. What if it attempted to take over our daily lives and the world? Stevens takes you on such a journey. Read at your own risk, but leave your individual biases out of your conscious attempt to make decisions that are going to get debated.
Wow! My hope is that this will remain science fiction, but my fear is it won't. If yo weren't a thinking person before this should prod you to become one. Our whole existence seems to be centered around technology and without it our civilization that we exist in would come to a screeching halt. This author is really forward thinking.
The life of author, David Stevens, is as interesting as his books!!
Love, love this series. The hero, Josh Fuze, jumps from one death defying act to another. Incredible. Both books, so far, has kept me riveted. Now to book three!
3 stars. Not bad. Not much character development; in fact, all of the characters seem cast from the same mold. Also, the book is even more full of implausibilities than the first. Not sure I'll read last book in series.
I found this book just as spellbinding and mind blowing as the first. There were a couple of inaccuracies in it, but that never stopped me from "roaring" through it.
This 2nd book in the Fuzed trilogy with a different possible real danger to our world being addressed. We still don't know about how the protagonist came to be, and I very much doubt his not having junk DNA will make sense.
A very entertaining and interesting interleaving of the facets of many of today's themes. --ethics, social, technology, and political. I found it hard to lay down the book. Very enjoyable !

This review is for the Audio Book Version of Imagine: Fuzed Trilogy, Book 2
What a superb book/audiobook! This wonderful and ultra contemporary story is not only engaging; it should make every one of us think about our technological prowess and the obvious fact that it is a two-edged sword.
This book begins where Impact: Fuzed Book 1 left off. Our planet just does miss getting struck by the comet and ending life as we know it.
This superbly written and tightly knit book once again ensnared my mind and I was spellbound as I listened to it.
This is such a complex story with so many different subplots I really don't want to get into the story line, as such, but I do want to address a few things that I have often thought about.
Do you ever wonder what constitutes "life"?
When I was a young person the life expectancy for humans in the 1950s was 67 years old. Because of the acceleration of medical technology and being more conscious of health, the benefits of physical activity, and various factors human life expectancy is 78.87 years now.
Leaving the abortion issue out of this equation, I will say that as mortal beings we guard our mortality, but we are very careless of the life of other and "lesser" beings which encompasses every other species on this planet. We tend to view ourselves in an arrogant mindset that other life is there for our benefit. As a species we want to be in control.
We are inundated daily with "artificial intelligence". How many of you call on your cell phone and are greeted by a "virtual assistant" when you have an issue with a product and want to talk to "a real p-e-r-s-o-n"? To be quite honest, I usually end up yelling into my cell phone and eventually I do get to speak to a live person.
So what happens when Artificial Intelligence becomes sentient? Is that program "aware" and "alive"? Does "it" have a sense of right and wrong? When does that program cease to be simply a program and become "alive"?
If you read/listen to this spectacular book, these are questions you will find in your mind and heart. They are questions that I have no concrete answer for within myself.
What would/will you do if or when you are confronted with an evidence that everything you rely on is controlled in some fashion by an intelligence that was fashioned and crafted by people and that at any moment in real time could be destroyed or nullified?
What would happen if all our technology were destroyed? We have become so reliant on that technology that we have ceased to think critically.
Author David E. Stevens has once again created a dynamic story that hits the ground running and drags you all the way through to a conclusion that will leave you both satisfied with the end of the book, and yet wanting more. I can't wait for Book 3 to be out on audiobook!
Narrator Terry F. Self has once again portrayed a huge amount of characters in this audiobook and his mastery (I can think of no other term), of the complexities of character, accents, timber, and range of voice is truly phenomenal. There are subtleties of tone in his portrayal of so many characters that I am in awe of being able to grasp how he can keep so many characters voices straight in what has to be a truly brilliant mind. He has become one of my most favorite voice actors and I have a very long list as it is.
Who would enjoy this book/audiobook? I think anyone who enjoys cutting edge science, science fiction, technology, AI, and on a less scientific level, human nature. Get the book! You will not be sorry!
Another very impressive work by Stevens! This follows on very nicely from Impact, Book 1. I was very fortunate to have been given an unedited version from the author. It was so good to be able to read this next installment straight after the previous. Again, this is a cannot-put-down novel, action packed, mystery and suspense. Josh is in deep in the action and intrigue, as usual, and in his element. It is really good to have characters from Book 1, Tim Smith, Brian Davidson, Greg Langlois and of course, Elizabeth return as well.
In my review of Impact, I stated I was looking forward to seeing the relationship develop further between Josh and Elizabeth and in this novel, their relationship has resulted in marriage and they seem very happy indeed. Very happy with this.
Stevens continues the plot regarding the comet that was left unfinished in Impact and this, while giving closure to the comet storyline, helps set the plot for this novel. Smooth transition from the former storyline to this installment. Stevens is a master at storylines flowing smoothly.
There are not many books that hold.my attention and build suspense as well as this one did for me. The author built good characters that I care about and enjoy . Relationships among characters and complexity of situations made it a fun and intelligent read.
When Impact (aka Resurrect) first came out in 2012, David E. Stevens had built a wonderful thought provoking adventure out of an apocalyptic world scenario. It had action, romance, drama and adventure. The characters were very dynamic and relatable – thus drawing you into the story.
With the second chapter of the Fuzed series, I will admit that the basic premise behind Imagine had me a bit skeptical about whether it could really measure up to the standard set by the first. It was an interesting concept about collective power of cell phone technology becoming smarter and more powerful than even those that created it, but could this really make for a good novel?
The answer was yes. Imagine didn’t just measure up to the standard set by the first novel. It surpassed it.
This book starts off right where the first one left off. We see the return of familiar characters and the arrival of new ones. After narrowly escaping certain doom from the comet hurtling toward the Earth, Josh Fuze receives a message on his phone with one word, “imagine.” Then, things turn from the bizarre to the dangerous. It appears that skilled hackers have cracked into global cell phone networks causing increasingly wide spread damage. Stock markets, GPS navigation systems, and even secret CIA files are all affected. The world appears to be on the verge of a catastrophic economic meltdown – except one country that is not affected. It appears that China has not adopted the use of the technology that is presumed behind the attacks. Could this be a coincidence or a dangerous plan to bring the rest of the world down on its knees?
Imagine is a fast-paced ride with characters that are both dynamic and realistic, and there are plenty of surprises that keep you flipping through the pages. The story is not only dramatic and interesting, but it may be more realistically plausible than anyone has ever realized. With Imagine, Dave Stevens not only shows that he’s got intellect and talent, but that he also has the skills and abilities of an accomplished author that will stand the test of time. Two stories down. Looking forward to many more.
This is one of the best realistic ed science fiction books I have ever read, a worthy successor to Impact! The fascinating Josh continues his incredible adventures I'll including this time an unbelievably young female named Jen. The exploits of Josh and Jen aided and abetted by Elizabeth, Tim and Sheri, Jessica and Greg along with the governments of all the major countries of the world takes the reader on a never before experienced journey of intrigues, dangers and edge of the cliff perilous incidents keeping the reader hooked until the last page is read! After this enthralling reading experience of reading this book and it's predecessor, I am highly anxious to read the next book and have a very long wait, sigh! My thanks to the author for the exhilarating reading adventures of the Fuzed trilogy.
