Nice balance between two little and too much info. I particularly enjoyed the section on language. The map in the back was helpful (although the borders/rivers were a little hard to discern). I mostly connect Germany with hard language, bratwurst, beer, Hitler/Nazism, and autobahn, but this book was helpful to open my eyes to so much of the country I had never considered. I also never realized how much of our Western history owes to Germany - such as composers, the automobile industry, and architecture.
I left off a star as the author's political bias showed through in the writing on some of the sections of the book.
