Great book! This is a book that holds your interest from the beginning to the end. It not only tells the story of the characters that form the story, but the history of the Apalachee people. The Apalachee was an Native American tribe that roam part of Florida. That tribe no longer exist.

An exceptional book. I found the story woven around the history of the early 17th century in the 'western frontier' of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida exciting and educational. This is a book I will keep on my shelf for a re-read after I retire in the winter. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the history of settlers - English and Spanish - and the natives of many tribes and their interactions one with another astonishing. This is history we were never taught in school.
