Every relationship has its bumps. For this couple, it’s interstellar.
From the creator of Snailogy and Rescheduled comes a sexy supernatural story about being out on your own, finding your dream apartment and discovering that your new place is haunted by a handsome spectral stranger from another dimension. Sure, he can’t see you and you can’t touch him, but who said every relationship starts out perfectly?
In this second volume, Zelan witnesses firsthand the abuse Zylith’s father heaps on his daughter… and moves to protect her. Do they have more in common than he’s willing to admit?
This volume collects episodes 22–35 of the supernatural hit WEBTOON comic.
I 100% LOVE THIS SERIES so far! I need the next one like yesterday! Vera's father is OH MY GOODNESS HE NEEDS TO STOP. And the BFF and the BA-DUMs and THAT ENDING and HOW is this going to end and I NEED IT TO HAVE A HEA!!!
(pausing, attempting to breathe normally)
Et hem. Pardon that emotional outburst, but can you BLAME me?!?! This series is just BLOWING me AWAY. I sincerely hope that it doesn't jump a shark, I really need this to not end up disappointing me. Sorry for sounding so negative, but when you have a series that is your Ride-or-Die and then it just...dies...you tend to get spooked and be unable to see how something THIS good can keep it up.
I love the mystery (HOW is all of this happening, WHY), the sci-fi aspects (parallel worlds? Universe hiccup?), the romance (WHO is Vera going to end up with, will it help her in the contest?), the artwork, the characters, the storyline, the drama (Vera's father just needs to GO, NOW!), in short, this series, continued in this book, is practically perfect to me.
Warning, I keep mentioning her father. He is...not well. Controlling and manipulating and refuses to relinquish what he sees as his power over those in his life. He's not happy unless he is in control, and he will take just about ANY means to get and maintain it. It is DARK and brought back some less than happy memories in me, and I haven't gone through nearly half of what poor Vera is going through.
Definitely for more mature audiences, so I would say Young Adult readers on up, with proper adult vetting as appropriate.
5, I am foaming at the mouth with anticipation for the next volume, stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad/WEBTOON Unscrolled for an eARC of this book to read and review.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'm so confused, I'm not going to lie. What is really happening right now? How am I supposed to feel?
I'm not even sure how I would explain this plot of this book aside from saying it's very good and entertaining but extremely confusing at the same time.
This volume it was finally revealed what was happening (although it feels more like a hypothesis right now, rather than what is really happening),and we finally got to see the two main characters interact more.
I really like Zylith as a main character, and I feel so bad for what is happening to her. She deserves so much better, and someone needs to do something about her father.
I have so many mixed feelings on Zelan. He needs to communicate more with Zylith, I swear to god. He is hiding way too many things, and it's making it hard for me to root for me.
The romance is also confusing me because I can't tell if this will actually turn into a queer romance or if it's all queerbait. If it's the latter, I'm going to be so mad.
Overall, this is a really strong story with two compelling main characters, and I'm so excited to read more and see how everything unfolds.
It's just so cute! I simply cannot stand it! The art, the banter, the flirting by all parties, the phonetically spelled out slang, they all add up to the cutest second volume I could have possibly asked for! And now I impatiently await volume 3. *Sigh.* Such is life.
After binging volume 1, I immediately picked up this volume to continue the journey with Zylith, Zelan, and Verose.
In this installment, we had Zylith “training” to compete in a romance contest with the help of “teacher” Zelan. Not only was this plot point adorable, but it brought with it a love triangle!!! Also, we see Zelan going from a “cinnamon roll” “soft boy” to a sexy alpha machine in about 2 seconds flat, which was YUMMMMM! I’m not going to spoil anything beyond this because you all just need to pick this up and read it!
I was completely intrigued to see where this love triangle was going to go that I ended up binging the rest of the second season of the comic on WEBTOON and finishing it in one sitting. I seriously cannot get enough of these freaking romantics! I will definitely be binging the rest of the episodes as soon as I can and I will be purchasing volume 2 and any other future volumes for my collection.
Thank you to NetGalley, Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, WEBTOON Unscrolled, and Snailords for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
Arc reading for the publisher via netgalley. I adore this series, it’s one I followed weekly with webtoons and was always eagerly awaiting the next chapter. The characters have a lot of hilarious moments, it’s very much a blend of/ mock of romance? With syfy paranormal elements weaved. It’s genre altering but in the best way. Zelan and Zyliths relationship grows a bit more in each episode where you’re definitely rooting by for what’s seems to be impossible odds cause how can altering reality’s meet? 👀 The artwork is stunning in a clear cut take for being anime style. With bold and lovely colors, I can’t wait to have volume two on my shelf.
Again I just wanna leave a huge shout out to publishers taking notice to the webtoon community and bringing some of mine and I know others favorite stories to light and making them into physical copies.
I am very intrigued by the possibilities of where this will end. I feel like this is a less sad 'Your Name'? I like this cross-dimensional storyline a lot because it leaves a lot up to the imagination - for me anyways. I can't find this to be predictable at all.
The illustrations are really pretty too. This book definitely caught my eye just for that alone.
Overall, enjoyed it. The first felt more purposeful but I'm sucked in. I'm hooked. Let's go for book 3!
Thank you NetGalley and Webtoon for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Anyway, allez lire Freaking Romance 🫵🏻
Honestly I read these as they dropped via webtoons and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. It’s romance, syfy/paranormal hodge podge but it works? The characters are simple and fun, the further in the more depth they and the setting gets and it’s just a fantastic read. I’m so excited it’s been picked up for publication and to have the gorgeous artwork in book format to add to my collection. So a huge thanks for the publishers for allowing me to arc read and get to watch this collection get the recognition it deserves.
Zylith learns more about Zelan. She admits to having a crush on Vera.
Dimensions aside, I ship Zylith and Vera because Zylith has a real crush and connection with her. Zelan is just a kinda creep that stays in her apartment. No escape. Forced proximity.
Side note, the story is okay for Webtoon romance. Something about the art is a little creepy though. I see it in Zylith's eyes and sometimes the way Zelan is portrayed. Is this intentional? Does the author have a past in horror art?
Notes: 128 She's assuming that friendship is all Vera wants. Communicate clearly! Never assume!
It was honestly fantastic. It had a few more twist and turns than I would have preferred, and it kind of felt like we were being toyed with, but it was overall very good. I still don’t support this author, due to their targeting of people who leave reviews, but I do love the book, so the review is based solely on that. Once again the artwork was a 10/10, the story could have played with us less, but otherwise was great.
I received this as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest review. I have yet another unpopular opinion. I was hoping to get some kind of clarification on literally ANYTHING that was going on in this story and haven’t gotten anything. I also liked the art in book 1 more as well. This is a series I won’t continue with, but I can see how others like this. Just not for me!
Characters are smart. Zelan knows why they see eachother, but not people from their world. Or at least his theory is smart.
Immediately at the beginning of the second volume we get an answer for the most requested question: Why do they see eachother, but no one else sees them? I really like that this book isn't like other books who keep things unexplained for too long or even not explain it at all. This book makes you wonder, but not for too long.
The romance actually blossoms more, now that they resolved their trust issues problem and went over to 'I will help you with your dreams and passions. Also Zylith said to Zelan in the last chapter: 'I will be the horror film that you can relate to', which is really cute.
In this volume I think that the facial expressions became better. Or I might just imagine it. But it looks really cool!
It's relatable. Especially chapter 27, where the drama kicks in.
As it is relatable it's also funny sometimes.
Great character development. Zylith talks back against her father and it's pictured perfectly.
There is a moment where Zylith makes a stupid decision (chapter 28), but she knows it's stupid and resists the urge, showing that she isn't stupid, but can't handle her emotions well and feels guilty, she is kind-hearted. The moment also showed it so good, with her mind talking back against the action she is about to take.
Dislikes:
Unfortunately, the cringe talking of the characters didn't stop after Volume 1. Stuff like, 'that's a red flag', instead of just saying that this isn't ok, and 'handsome cinnamon roll', which makes no sense even in internet slang as 'cinnamon roll' is used for cute. Using two adjectives next to eachother without a comma is a grammatical mistake.
The author or rather the illustrator did it again. One panel had nothing while it was added in the next one without showing the readers first how they changed it. For example, chapter 24, Zylith sits on the couch with Zelan and burries her hands in her face, next panel she wears gloves out of nowhere.
It's a bit off that when they wear gloves, they both are also wear revealing clothing. The position in which Zylith fell asleep on Zelan was a bad angle, at least for the drawing on that panel.
Too many characters use the same vocabulary. All 3 main characters say dum-dum. Can't they say another word? They aren't supposed to be the same person.
The ending of this volume felt cut of. Like something was missing and wasn't supposed to end.

In this second volume, the tone becomes darker as we delve deeper into the conflictual and completely toxic relationship between Zylith and her father.
We begin to understand Zelan a little better through her relationship with her mother and, above all, her daily life as a public figure.
Although more serious, this volume continues to be lighthearted with the same sharp humor that I love.
-- Romance / Friendships
Zylith tries to grasp “Love” for her novel with a set theme. This theme raises questions about herself, Zelan, and Vera. I really liked how the author kept us guessing in this second volume, and I can't wait to find out what happens next!
The relationship between Zelan and Zylith grows stronger and becomes very touching in its mutual support between two artists, especially in the face of Zylith's toxic father. This character is very raw and freaks me out...
-- Addictiveness
As with volume 1, I read it very quickly and the story is still very fluid. I can't wait for the next installment!
-- Summary
The relationships are becoming more complex, and I'm really curious to see what happens next. I really like the gentle way in which the theme of Zylith's abusive parental relationship is handled, as well as Zelan's unease. It's still a feel-good romance, tinged with the fighting spirit and strength that can be found in our relationships with others.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this before printed publication.
Note: I read the first part on Webtoon, so I would understand what is going on in volume 2.
Awkward would be the theme topic for this book (English teacher joke). My favorite character has to be the cat. The best friend gives me weird vibes. The dad adds a bit of thriller/horror into the mix. And I really like the fact that this story isn’t another take on the ghost and alive person fall in love kind of story (don’t get me wrong, I have a bunch of those on my bookshelves, but a girl needs something different now and then). I love the different art styles throughout the book, and how the character would “sound” different between them.
Can we also applaud how the title has become an almost catchphrase in the book? And how the author breaks the fourth wall every now and again. AND how they incorporate their name, Snailords, into building names, etc. Gotta love the humor. Can’t wait to keep reading!
Freaking Romance 2 - I don’t think I have ever hated anyone as much as I hate zylith’s dad. Zelan is getting a front row seat to the abuse she is living through even with her being kicked out and no longer living with him. It was definitely darker in tone for me.
Zelan is really struggling with himself. People adore him and he doesn’t seem to like himself and you kind of get the feeling that he is worried that Zylith won’t like the real him and that made me sad.
I literally put the book down and my daughter scooped both of them off my desk… I looked right at her and she said you won’t love them like I already do… High praise haha
I love the artwork and I love how the story is developing and do not get me started on the love triangle… I’m gonna need the next installments!!!
4 stars!
Thank you to @snailords for bringing me to the darkside (to the rabbit hole that is graphic novels)
Okay, let’s be real—Volume 2 didn’t quite hit the same as the first. The pacing slowed down significantly, and instead of that electric, "what’s-gonna-happen-next" energy, we were given more exposition and internal dialogue. It felt more like being told what to feel than actually feeling it through the story.
The twist about Zylith’s feelings didn’t sit well with me personally—it veered in a direction that dulled the emotional momentum. I found myself missing the thrill, the urgency, the weird magic meets romance that Volume 1 promised. It’s not that it was bad—it just didn’t ignite the same spark.
That said, I’m still holding out hope for Volume 3 to bring back the intensity and suspense that originally pulled me in. I know the series is complete, so I’m curious to see how it wraps up. For now, though, Volume 2 left me more curious than captivated.
💭 Final Thought: Sometimes the middle of a story takes a dip before rising again. Let’s see where it goes from here.
GAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Sooooooo we’re somewhere between parallel worlds and a horror movie with a freaky psycho ex, but really it’s just her FATHER???!?
They’ve come to the conclusion that they are both alive, but just in different universes; parallel worlds. They both are definitely feeling each other, but nothing will ever come from a relationship where they can’t touch each other. So Zelan pushes Zylith to romance her best friend Vera: For two reasons, really. He wants her to have the experience that she can create a comic about and also, he knows they can’t be end game.
Of course, that’s when Zylith’s dad shows up slamming things and demanding she see him. His emotional manipulation game is on and it makes me hope that he gets killed sometime soon. I really REALLY do not like his character at all!
I’m starting the next chapter on WebToons ASAP!!!!!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing the opportunity to read this before the release. As I have said on the previous review for volume one, I adore this series. I've read the entire story on Webtoon, but I really appreciate the fact that they have started to do the "unscrolled" versions of the stories. It is much easier to read in that format. There's no loading. You don't have a pay wall for the next one. It's brilliant. That being said, this particular volume left off on a bit of an awkward spot in the story. I think two or three more episodes would have made this particular volume a bit better. I do still love this. The art is gorgeous. If you are following the series, get this.
Just finished reading the second volume for Freaking Romance.
Volume 2 you find out that instead of living with a ghost, Zylith is living with someone from a parallel dimension. Zelan is a famous singer with a large internet following. Zylith is an aspiring comic artist trying to make it on her own.
The things I really liked about the story: - Great chemistry between characters - The art style is gorgeous - The storyline is interesting
I really laughed a lot.
Things that I think could be better: - Some of the slang used is funny, but other times it's a little too baby talk for me.
Other than that, I am hooked and can't wait to read more.
I really enjoyed this volume. I have read the story on Webtoon while it has been releasing and I enjoyed it immensely. Reading it again now brings a lot of nostalgia for me, so I might be a bit biased. However, there are a lot of triggering things in this, such as child abuse, emotional abuse, guilt-tripping from a parent etc. so beware of this before going into this story. There are some plot holes and things that are a bit easy, but I just love the art style and the characters. They are both opening up more, though Zelan definitely still hides things. Also love the queer rep. Cannot wait for volume three to come out and continue reading it in physical format!
I really love this WEBTOON - it was so fun the first volume and this just amped up the hype for me. I love the intrigue and obvious devastation to come because how can these two people be together?! But even more, I love how the story inverts tropes and doesn’t fall prey to easy outs. I also really enjoyed the complexity of our characters and their relationships with their parents. How intense it can be and also how a toxic relationship can make you feel like you’re the one in fault. Such a good story that balances serious topics with humor. Top tier!
I did not read book 1 however I didn't really need to as I still pretty much knew what was going on. Though I will be getting book one so I can read it too. This is a cute story that deals with a tear in time where these two people who live in the same apartment but in different worlds seem to be leaking into each other and only they can see each other. One has a crush on the other but one big thing is if they touch each other with bear skin they disappear for a few days not being able to see each other for a while. The story itself covers some deep topics, and has some really cute art.
I’m gay for her, let’s leave it at this…
