Lovely book. Like most books by Chronicle, the photography was amazing. Also, it's a simple introduction to Ayurveda, an ancient belief system governing all aspects of life and health. The focus here is on ayurvedic beauty rituals, but she also emphasizes the importance of a balanced life, spending time to nurture your body AND soul, and even includes yoga series and detox strategies.
Interesting read. But, very complicated in some areas for this old lady. I listened to cassette tapes of Ayurveda by Depak Chopra years ago, in t he 1980"s I believe, it was much simpler then and the only oil used or mentioned way sesame oil. This book has all kinds of essential oils etc. and it was difficult for me to figure out what my Dosha was/is. But some things seemed simple enough and I liked the idea of a 3 day home "spa" treatment, staying away from "the outside world" and most media, like tv and internet. Music is okay and books. Hot tea. I would like to try that and some of the. yoga poses.
