Do you want to experience Jesus as real? When we look at Jesus' life on earth, we see Him calling people to simply know Him. He made no demand on them to believe theological propositions. "Follow me" was the invitation which they accepted. They got to know and communicate with the real person. There is a big difference between believing something is true and experiencing it as real. This is the story of how Wally Armstrong learned to communicate with the real person of Jesus in his everyday life. Armstrong experiences Jesus up close and personal and introduces readers to the same experience. In a conversational manner, he explores what it is like to have a relationship with Jesus as if He is sitting right there next to us. He keeps an empty chair ready and imagines Jesus sitting beside him as they talk.
Wally Armstrong in his new book “Practicing the Presence of Jesus” published by Summerside Press shows us how to have a daily, personal relationship with Jesus. Experience the Gift of His Friendship

Jesus said, “I am with you always.” That is a very comforting verse however they are words that we are not always aware of. There is a difference between knowing Jesus is with us and being aware that Jesus is with us. What do I mean? Let me put it like this. No matter where you live you have a Kitchen. It is always there. Now, suppose, you are in your Living Room intensely focused on watching your game on the TV. The Kitchen is still there but you are not aware of it as your entire focus is on the game. Commercial comes on, you want a snack, now all of a sudden you are aware of the presence of the Kitchen. As the verse tells us Jesus is always with us however a lot of times our focus is not on Him and we are not aware of His presence. Wally Armstrong has given us a little book that helps us focus our attention on Jesus so that we are aware of His presence all the time.

Title: PRACTICING THE PRESENCE OF JESUS Author: Wally Armstrong Publisher: Summerside Press October 2012 ISBN: 978-1-60936-702-2 Genre: nonfiction/Christian Living
Wally Armstrong has believed in Jesus for a long time. He knew about having a relationship with Jesus, but didn’t know Him as a real companion and friend.
One day, after Wally had a dramatic encounter on the golf course, his life was forever changed. In that moment, Wally realized that Jesus offered him the gift of friendship, up close and personal, that He shared with His disciples two thousand years ago.
In PRACTICING THE PRESENCE OF JESUS, Wally offers a clear approach to experiencing that same dynamic relationship, and he shares simple steps for interacting with Jesus as if he were sitting right beside you.
If you want an up and close friendship with Jesus, then PRACTICING THE PRESENCE OF JESUS could help transform you from the inside out.
I was raised being taught how to pray without ceasing, and as a fiction writer, I have a lot of “imaginary friends” that I interact with when I write. Jesus is not an imaginary friend, He is very real, but I knew most of these principles shared in this book from the very beginning. He is someone I share everything with as if He were right beside me … and He is.
But if this is something you long for, then do pick up PRACTICING THE PRESENSE OF JESUS and become friends with the savior. $12.99 hardcover. 128 pages.
What if Jesus was right here, right now beside us? What if we could walk, talk, and be with him every day, building a friendship relationship that is real and tangible? What would that look like?
And so, Willy wrote this book, as a way to challenge Christians into a simple idea that, while not new, is a revival of Christianity at its roots - a basic, intimate relationship between Jesus and his disciples. A friendship. Meeting together and getting to know each other.
There's a story in this book that Willy shares from another book that started his path to relational faith with Jesus, a story about a minister visiting an old Scottish man nearing death. That man lay in his bed, with an empty chair beside him. The old man reveals to the minister that long ago he was challenged to picture Jesus in that chair and talk to Him as a friend.
And now that challenge is passed on to us.
I've received the challenge. Make Jesus real. Build a friendship and learn from Him - just as his disciples did when he actually was walking the earth. Relationship, not performance, is the key to faith.
This book has been eye-opening for me. I will highly recommend it to my friends, because I think it can revolutionize faith as we know it.
Wally Armstrong has presented a beautiful insight into his personal relationship with Christ. I especially loved the story of the old Scotchman, he had a chair in his room just for Christ to sit it. It reminded him to keep Christ close and have ongoing conversations with him. When he passed away his hand was on the chair....he traveled along with Jesus! There are many pictures of this empty chair throughout the book. A reminder to keep the conversations going. I think maybe the Amish or Amish Woman wearing their reminder of a prayer cap is an excellent reminder...keep talking to God. This book is a good reminder that our Lord is looking at us as Friends...he gave us his ultimate gift. The Author is sharing a wonderful gift with us. Enjoy, and savor.

How would you like to truly be friends with Jesus? That's right--what would that be like? This is a simply written book, not overly theological, but written in a way that everyone can easily understand. Honestly, there is not a whole lot to say except that this is written by a golfer who put this idea to the test. And it is easier than you might realize.
All too often, Christians tend to see God like their earthly father. If they had a bad earthly father, they may see God in the same way. Nothing could be further from the truth. Pick up this easy-to-read book today, and you just might find that your spiritual life has changed forever!
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
Through his own experience, the author encourages readers to get a clear picture of not just who Jesus is but what does he look like to them. Without knowing it many of us have carried around misconstrued mental images of Christ. Although the author shares his method for engaging in a more dynamic relationship with Jesus, he doesn't attempt to offer readers a one size fit all strategy but shows them what is possible. It's a small but enlightening book.
It's uncommon for me to give five stars to a book but this one has profoundly affected my life. I don't want to give too much away, but Jesus has, as a result of this work, become more real to me than ever before. This is a book every Christian should read. I may elevate it into my top 2 of all time.
This is a quick read and I really enjoyed it. We all need to realize that God loves us so much and is really with us 24/7. We just get busy and feel like we are on our own. This book helps you take a look at realizing the presence of Jesus and making Him the friend He wants to be to us. I pray daily to be more like Jesus and am grateful for His love. I recommend this book as a good read.
I heard a pastor recommend this book a couple of years ago and it has been on my mind for a while. I finally decided to order the book and read it, and I have been the farthest away from being disappointed. This book is a practical eye-opener to living with Jesus. I've started changing things in my life because of the ideals in the book and I expect to continue changing as time goes by.
