Welp, I was not at all expecting that ending… 😭

Nix, Jane, and the boys are back in Burn It Down and I have never been so happy to be back at Blisshaven! After the way things ended in Caged in Flames, Nix is out for revenge with the help of a certain crazy redhead, and the two come up with some hilarious and over the top ways to get back everyone on Nix’s shit list.

The boys, at least, are on their best behavior and doing everything in their power to show Nix how truly sorry they are and how much they want her, and take her revenge plots in stride. I loved that the boys are finally repairing all the damage done and strengthening their relationships individually and as a group with Nix.

But that ending… Harsh 😩 My baby Nixy was doing so well and now I’m worried how this will set her back 😭😭

nope

I was so excited for this and couldn’t finish it. Not when she barely made them pay for what they did to her. She was such a doormat. Who makes men jealous as a form of revenge for the atrocious things they did to her? She tried to kill herself and that’s all they got?
No.
I stopped halfway after her best friend, who wanted to go after these guys suddenly was all for them having relationships with her.

Book2 in Blisshaven Academy
Why choose
High school
MM scene
Mental health

I really enjoyed this second in series. I was sucked in after the first one and was so excited to get my hands on this one.
I love when stories pick up where they leave off.

Nix is not one to easily forgive & forget. She wants to move on, but she also wants the boys to pay for what they’ve done. She makes them grovel.
And those boys deliver !!
I’ve got a sweet spot for Charlie, and Jude is a close second.

I love the side characters, they add a perfect blend of hilarity and loyalty. I love love love Jane. And Kingston is a new friend added and he’s lovely 🥰

Ugh, that cliffhanger. I have my thoughts & I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this series.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶️/5
MFC: I’m 50/50 on Nix for this book.
MMC(s): I love them, even if they’re idiots.
Plot: 3/5
Book cover: 3/5
Would I buy a physical copy?: Maybe. Depends on how the next book goes. 🤔

Last book, I HATED Charlie with a passion. This one? He’s my favorite and I want to smother him with love. He’s really putting her first and loving her correctly 🥹Gunner and Sawyer finally pulled their heads out of each others asses and had the conversation that they should have already had. I will say, Sawyer shocked me with his maturity on winning Nix back! Jude, was everything. The canvas scene? Chefs kiss 🤌🏻💋✨

Now Nix. I’m aware this is a school aged series, so characters are going to act… school aged. But sheesh it was almost embarrassing on how immature Nix was acting! On top of knowing the guys KNEW what her purpose was? Double embarrassing. Thank god Kingston saw right through her BS because I would’ve been pisssssed if she ended up hurting my sweet boy. (Side note: I’m lowkey wondering if he’s not all that sweet 😬 he just HAPPENED to have left when that cliffy happened?? Idontknowaboutallthat.) Also, I still don’t trust Jane. I tried, but I’m a firm believer that something is up with her. She too had to miss the Gala because she was “sick”. OHMYGOD. What if Jane and Kingston are working together?! The beeeeeetrayal 😱

I genuinely worried about Nix though. That ending could ruin everything she’s been working through, and the message on the door? Mama Carter needs to be a wee bit more honest. Richard, my guy. I’m torn on him. He clearly wants to fix things with his daughter but how can he?? Fuck Charlie’s mom though.

I laughed quite a bit this book, cringed enough to be reminded they’re in HS but also swooned at their decelerations of feelings. Everything balanced out so I’m looking forward to the last installment!

"A starving heart will eat many lies"

Oh Phoenix. My heart... This book is written so much differently then your typical, bully, enemies to lovers romance and I love it.

Phoenix is failing miserably at maintaining her persona like she has all of her stuff together. Coming to terms with Gunner and Sawyer - feeling betrayed yet at the same time very curious and voyeuristic... lol. With them, along with the other guys, Charlie and Jude - she is conflicted more than anything. She knows she has feelings for them and wants them, yet - she cant trust them.

Going into the relationship with eyes open admitting, her heart is there, but her head is not is eye opening for everyone. They all admit going forward, moving slowly until Phoenix is ready. She realizes she is also done being a doormat, taking the high road and revenge is a dish best served cold and PRONTO!

I wish we got to read more of what Phoenix's outcome with bullying the bully's was. We just got snippets here and there but not the end result. I hope to see more in book three. This book also took a turn where it seams someone is out for Phoenix's family.

Will Nix's mom be ok!? What is going to happen next? Will the guys take everything Nix has to dish out and bask in it? Nix's relationship is as cold as ice, can they melt the tension and make things right? I loved the introduction we got with Kingston and absolutely adored everything Jane. And what the heck is up with that guidance counselor!?

Cant wait for the next book! I enjoyed it so much. The ending came wayyy to fast.

*Overall 4/5
*Heat? 4/5
*Multiple First person POV
*MMFMM Relationship
*Ends on cliffhanger

Phoenix "Nix" is angry, hurt and confused. Once again she feels betrayed by the guys, more specifically Gunner and Sawyer. As always music is her outlet for the pain and she dives into it to sort out her feelings.

As for the guys, Charlie feels confident he's made progress in his relationship with Nix. However, he doesn't know what happened with Gunner and Sawyer. Jake does know and he's not happy things just went backwards instead of forward with Nix.

Nix is subtly planning her revenge on several people including the guys. The guys of course are her first targets as she starts flirting with a few of the football team. One in particular, Kingston, is the target to help with her plan. Mostly because he really isn't interested in her.

Jane helps out with the plans for Molly and her crew, that will be interesting to see to fruition. The Halloween dance is part one of the plans.

Kingston becomes another type of protector for Nix another friend to depend on just like Jane and Jasmine.

The guys are once again working to regain her trust, Molly and her friends get theirs, and an interesting dinner with her father are some of the best scenes in this book.

I laughed and I cried, and the heat of course heads off the charts with the sizzle.

After the OMG ending, I really can't wait for the next book!

This is the second book in Nix’s story. It picks up a couple of days after the ending of Caged in Flames. Nix is feeling a whole lot of big emotions and is struggling to handle them until she comes to a decision and confides in Jane.

Nix really grows a lot in this book. She is fairly unapologetic about her need for revenge, although she does generally keep things at a reasonable level - she doesn’t want to sink to the level of her bullies and become one herself. She adapts to new information and circumstances even as she struggles with difficult days. I appreciate the work that the author has done to show how insidious mental health issues can be, how people with those issues are often treated by others because there’s still a stigma, and how treatment for those issues can often need to be ongoing, even if they might feel “cured.”

The guys go through a lot of character growth as well, which was appreciated. Apologies for past and present behaviors come across as sincere, and with the understanding that forgiveness is not instant or inevitable.

The spice goes up a bit in this one and it’s 🥵🥵🥵

The plot brings out a lot of emotions, positive and negative, and has a few interesting twists. It does end on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait for the last book!

Buning It Down!!!

I'm totally in LOVE with Blisshaven Academy!! Just when I thought I knew where she was going to go with this book, she threw me off and went for the curve ball to keep us all on our toes. I love the storyline and how she she gives us such a great and strong FMC who has struggles with mental health and the protrayal of said character is amazing and she truly brings so much to light on the daily struggles of someone with mental health issues and shows not only the importance but the struggles of daily life to maintain a healthy balance and how to overcome it. The growth of this book for characters was amazing, and it bringa the story that much closer, but of course, there are still lots of twists and turns. Picking up after book one cliffhanger, we see Nix try to regain her composure and decide to get some revenge. While making a list and checking it off, the guys are also on a mission to win her trust back. Slowly, she starts opening up, and just when things start looking up, we're left with a twisted cliffhanger that no one sees coming until it's too late.

The long awaited second book in the Blisshaven Academy series is here!! It was worth the wait, although I did have a couple things that irked me.
For me personally, the guys haven’t grovelled anywhere near enough yet and I found it a bit weird how quickly they all were together? And like the conversation where they got together, wasn’t enough for me to clarify that they indeed really got together. So I could’ve done with more grovelling, and a clearer talk/moment where they got together.
What also annoyed me a little bit was that Nix really overreacted at the end of last book, and that picked up here. Instead of having a conversation, she ignores Gunner and is mad for something that could easily be talked out and explained. She puts him on the same level of evil as the other guys and that just didn’t feel right. We do get a great insight into why what he did hurt Nix so much, but it felt a bit much to me.
The writing was really good though, and I did enjoy the story despite a couple pet peeves 😝

Having read Caged In Flames i started looking forward to more from this author! As soon as i found out about this second installment i wanted to read it. I picked it up and got right back into the Blisshaven Academy world! I enjoyed it!

Nix and the guys' journey continues! After book one, i didn't quite know what all to expect next with these characters. I was glad that i got to jump back into this world!

I liked the way i got right back into this world and the way each character captured my attention. I didn't know how Nix would tackle everything with the guys and all the stuff thrown her way which got me into this book even more. I really enjoyed the way these characters had me going through many emotions throughout.

With Burn It Down, Ms.Denae has created such a good continuation that had me feeling many things! I am so looking forward to getting more with the third installment, From The Ashes!

Be sure to read the author's foreword about the content.

it’s a great book

I’m struggling to decide if I really like this book or not. I love how Nix’s mental health is portrayed it’s very real, and just written and explained incredibly well. However the RH aspect is not. It’s more like a bunch of kids have read a book about RH and just want to try it out. I don’t really see/feel (personally) much chemistry between her and the guys. Their is no real relationship between them (singularly) as group maybe, especially thanks to the relationship between Gunner and Sawyer. It just seems so immature. Also their is no real storyline happening we are just witnessing a group of kids getting together. No suspense or anything until the last couple chapters. The rest is mostly a repeat of the first book. And some petty pranks (which actually makes me disappointed in Nix) she should know better considering she personally understands the effects such bullying/pranks can have on someone’s mental health. So yeah I like it, but at the same time I don’t like it. Hopefully the 3rd book will be a lot better.

Burn It Down is book two of the Blisshaven Academy series and ant be read as a standalone. Book two picks up where Caged In Flames left off and I couldn’t put it down! I read this in one sitting and had to know what was going to happen next! I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster with Nix. Everything that she has gone through and continues to go through broke my heart and had me shedding tears while reading this!

A lot happens in this book with the guys trying to prove that they are there for Nix and not against her. Also, Nix deals with things with her dad and the anger she has with him. I won’t say much so I don’t give anything away but this book was definitely worth the wait! I love Jane and her quirky self nod then there is Kingston…love him! Every girl needs a Jane and King in their life! After that cliffhanger, I’ll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the final book of this trilogy!

I really wanted to reread Caged In Flames before reading Burn it Down because I wasn’t sure I’d remember!

But once I dove in, it all came back to me and I was able to enjoy the book right away.

It was fun to see Nix get her revenge, though I definitely expected it to be more extreme lol.

I loved seeing the relationship dynamic develop! It was easy to see that’s where it was headed at the end of book 1 and I love me a why choose with an MM relationship thrown into the mix. I’m holding out for a group scene in book three!

Jane - Nix’s BFF and her new bestie Kingston are such an amazing support for her and I love their platonic friendships.

Drea does such an amazing job, touching on multiple aspects of mental health, the challenges and stigmas attached to them!

The cliffhanger at the end caught me by surprised, I had a feeling the people involved were going to be effected but my head was somewhere else completely!

I can’t wait to see where book 3 goes! I’m ready for it now!

What a treat!

Nix and her guys are back. And revenge is delicious.
If you read the first book, good. Because the second book has more funny banter, groveling guys, more JANE, more spice, and really really funny revenge plans. And maybe a bomb? who knows?

This book picks up right after the first cliffhanger end of the book. Nix is pissed and rightfully so. But not more than Jane. That girl a true psycho wrapped in a rainbow. Also a true best friend. I want one Jane for myself. Where can I get one?

A huge bonus point for this book is Charlie. His complete obsession and devotion for Nix...I read thousand more pages.

The completely shocking news of events. Sawyer is right. That guy upset me so much in the first book I was done with him. But in this book..*chef kiss*

One criticism I can give is it was a short read for me. But don't mind me I can read these characters through 12 books. Heather Long style. Again, that is just me.

In true Drea fashion, I started this story and couldn’t put it down until I devoured every word. I loved every second of book 2.

All four guys work hard to rectify their faults from book 1 as well as their mistakes from 2 years ago. Charlie, is still a pain in the 🍑 but he’s working himself into my and Nix’s good graces. Jude is the soft sentimental one and being her first, he holds a special place. Sawyer uses his cockiness to hide his vulnerability. While Gunner seems to understands her needs better. While we have a new contender in book 2 and I love Kingston and the relationship they develop so much!

Jane is the best friend we all wish we could have. She’s a true ride or die friend, and you never know what will come out of her mouth.

There’s lots of hilarious revenge in this book, and I’m here for all of it. There’s also plenty of steam that will have you panting for more. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3 after that cliffy. Buckle up for this one, because as soon as you think you know what’s going to happen it takes a turn.

Heed the trigger warnings.

let down

I was on the cusp of giving a 3 but it was just such a letdown. I don’t need an mc to just go crazy on revenge or forgiveness but I was excited to see how Nix was going to handle the guys (and to see them take their actions seriously). Instead she starts out with revenge moves to childish pranks and then just goes into a relationship. I honestly skimmed through the last half because I am interested in the story but I was a bit disgusted with how easily she forgave them and how her ‘body’ just wanted them so she caved. Also sawyer bothered me because while deep down he might feel guilt he’s actually just acted like none of sihomote year was his fault and he shouldn’t feel an ounce of guilt about gunner. I like their relationship but sawyer just comes off as a selfish jerk whos throwing a tantrum. Overall I’m interested in the next book but I don’t have high hopes for this to change.

This was perfection!

OMYGOSH. I fell in love with Nix and all the guys in book 1, but this book definitely cemented that. This is one of my favorite series ever! The way Drea writes Nix and her struggles is so real and relatable. Her journey is one that many of us can relate to!

This second installment to Nix's story was perfect! More than I could have asked for. I thought at the end of book 1 it would go differently but I'm so glad it didn't! THIS is how Nix was supposed to deal with everything. Drea definitely stayed true to who Nix is as a character. Not to mention the steammmm! Whew! Not only was this just a dang good story in general, it was HOT some moments!

That ending got me though...😩

I can't wait for the next book in this story! It can't come fast enough! 🖤

I absolutely inhaled this book. Nix and her guys are just so readable! Four guys, who have once again betrayed her trust, this time it won't be used as a catalyst for her to try to end her own life, this time its the fuel for her fiery revenge and it is beautiful! Mental health is always a hard thing to write about, as someone who has dealt with both depression and severe anxiety due to PTSD, you would think I may find it triggering. But, I don't, I find it empowering to read of a survivor who knows her worth and has fought so hard to have her head above those drowning waves. I love Charlie's obsessiveness, Sawyer's ridiculous jokester personality, Gunner's strength and hidden dominance and Jude's total conviction that they are soulmates. There is some tough and emotional scenes in this book, they rip your heart out at times and it just hurts so good!

🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Burn it Down was the best way to start my year. It kept me entertained from the first page! Do I have trust issues now? Yes. Did I throw my kindle? Also yes. Would I do it again? YOU BETCHA.

I love the way Drea Denae writes her characters. She makes them come to life in a way that makes you care about them deeply. I’m obsessed with Nix and Jane’s friendship. Jane is ride or die… literally. Their banter had me laughing out loud.

Charlie… I knew he was going to be my favorite. Is there anything better than an obsessed stalker stepbrother? No.

I would 100% recommend this series to anyone! Have a case for your kindle or whatever device you’re reading on… that ending… *WHEW* it’s a doozy.

Incredible series

I don't usually write reviews, but when I read that the Author almost gave up on writing book 2 I knew I needed to say something. Thank you Drea Denae for writing a series on a subjects as misunderstood as mental health and different types of sexuality. There is so much hate in this world on both subjects that many of us stay in the closet on either issue. I myself deal with the the exact same diagnosis as Nix in this book and it even stems from much the same reasons as father abandonment. Reading this book has actually helped me realize that I need more help.

So, please know that your books are actually helping someone and that if you get stuck on book 3, remember that there is at least one person out there who not only wants to read it, but needs that healing touch.

- [ ] This is a great book, less shocking that “Caged in Flames”focusing on recovery and relationships.Nix has endured so much heartbreak and disappointment in her life, she’s still struggling to escape the darkness of her mind. Charlie’s cruelty was only the tipping point and enabled her to get the help she desperately needed. In this book we see Nix, with the help of Jane gain confidence and reassess her relationship with the the boys, even Charlie who deeply regrets his past actions. He’s a different boy here as he works out how he can make amends.Love all the different things happening in this book between the main characters, Gunner and Sawyer worried about how their relationship affects the individual one they each have with Nix. Her relationship with Jude seems to be the most straightforward, love how they reconnect here. As Nix gets to know the boys more they start to explore the idea of being them all being together. Pleased that her father is finally brave enough to defy his selfish wife and be in Nix’s life again. Happy that she’s overcoming her depression and getting some payback, pranking the mean girls. Life appears to be looking up for Nix.
That ending tho, really hope Cheryl is okay, who is the stalker? Can Nix ever catch a break?

I have waited forever for this book and boy was it worth the wait.

Phoenix is back and she's ready to burn the world down.
After book ones ending I was soooo excited to see what Nix had planned.

Charlie well as much as I want to hate him I do love him and I feel so bad with the amount of guilt that's eating him up.

I loved watching the boys try and sort out their issues and start to be better for phoenix because that girl deserves everything good.

Jane is literally the sunshine to everything dark in Nixs life and I love that and need a friend just like her in my life.

That ending holy hell when will nix ever get a break and what will happen to Cheryl.

Cannot wait for.book 3

I loved the first book and Burn It Down picks up where the first book ended. I’m glad Nix doesn’t forgive too easily but I still think Gunner and Sawyer need further grovelling. I like Jude’s character best out of all four boys and Sawyers the least….he just doesn’t seem to have any remorse. Jane provides some lighthearted relief and is there for our girl. I have to say, I think Kingston is my new favourite character. I like how Kingston doesn’t bow down to the four boys and can stand up to them. I really hope their character is that one person that Nix can claim as hers and is the one who is always on her side. I thought it was going to be Gunner until the cliffhanger in book one but now he’s Team Both as I refer to them. Fingers crossed for a HEA.

omg!

Drea! You meanie! This book was soooo good! I love the progress being made with all the relationships but that ending! OMG! I don’t even know what to think at this point. As someone who suffers from mental illness myself I am terrified of the route this next book could take. I need this resolution and I better get my HEA dang it! Nix growth throughout the last two books has been so good & this new curveball might be too much. Ugh! I also have my suspicions of who would be driving this car but time will tell…

Until next time Drea fans!

I had been waiting for and anticipating this book and the wait was well worth it. I absolutely love Nix and her boys and this world. I loved the direction that everything went in this book and where their relationships were heading up to the end of the book.

The end though! I just need to know what is going to happen next and where all these characters end up.

Seriously, an exceptional book and I am always so amazed by Drea. I cannot wait for more.

This is book 2 in series so book 1 must be read first and it does end in cliffhanger get. We pick back up right where Caged In Flames left off. Betrayed again and seeking revenge this time around but can her heart get on the same page. Not sure how much more Nix can handle after all this. As I have said before I am not a fan of it being 4 guys, I feel it’s too much but just my opinion.

Ever since reading book 1 I could NOT WAIT to get my hands on this
After the ending of book 1 Nix is back with vengeance all with the assistance of her fiery red headed best friend (whom I LOVE). The boys are all on their best behaviour and all their interactions make my heart melt, specially when they're considering Nix.
But there's A LOT going on and Nix feels it! But the guys are finally all there to support her and I'm here for it
Be careful of that ending though...

I really loved this book. I strongly advise to read the trigger warnings. There are some dark themes. The FMC struggles with mental health issues and has been severely bullied in the past. That aside, the book is really well written. Nix is so strong and has overcome so much. She’s forgiven her bullies and is embracing a happier and healthier life. The ending though destroyed me! I need to know what happens!!
