Amelia Storm #11

Storm's Target

Rate this book
Hunting season is open, and humans are the game.

In her new role with the Bureau’s Violent Crime Unit, Special Agent Amelia Storm is ready to focus on new types of crimes—ones that aren’t mob related. She didn’t, however, expect her first case to take her to rural Illinois, where the tranquil waters of Lake Henry have been guarding a grim secret.

Three corpses...and that’s just the beginning.

Among the deceased are two recent victims, a young couple last seen camping in the nearby wilderness preserve. A third, a grim echo from years past, is a set of bones picked clean and left to whisper secrets of an older, darker crime. The only connection between the victims, besides the location of their bodies, is the ancient rune carved into their skull. Shockingly, a ViCAP search of the distinctive symbol reveals eighteen sets of linked murders occurring over the past decade.

All murdered in pairs.

As Amelia and her partner delve deeper into the case, a disturbing realization dawns—they aren’t hunting a lone serial killer but two. Working in tandem, these predators stalk their victims under the veil of darkness.

Now the interval between murders is shortening, and the killers are escalating. Amelia must turn the hunter into the hunted...before they target their next victims.

From the wickedly dark minds of Mary Stone and Amy Wilson comes Storm’s Target, book eleven of the Amelia Storm Series. But be forewarned. You may never go camping again.

Amelia is back, but with a new department and crime. Zane is still there romantically, but they are now in different departments. Dean, who was in several other stories when Violent Crimes was consulted, is her partner for this case and it is a doozy. Family, danger, death, and intrigue are throughout the story. I was captivated by the evilness of the crimes and the planning used. The ending was wrapped up quickly but with great suspense and detail. Loved the down moments with Amelia and Zane to see the normalcy and love and humor of their relationship. As with many MS books the cliffhanger tied into an overarching storyline about Zane’s safety and secret background. Can’t wait for the next book!

nice procedural and miscreants stopped

A set of human remains discovered in an out of the way lake/campground is only the precursor to hitherto unconnected sets of killings.

‘Military veteran turned FBI special agent Amelia Storm returns to her corrupt hometown of Chicago to avenge her brother’s death, becoming an unstoppable force that exposes the city’s darkest secrets while solving its most dangerous crimes.’

Storm's Target is Book #11 in the Amelia Storm Series by Mary Stone. This series turned out to be a fast-moving mix of crime, suspense, and personal drama that was so easy to get hooked on. I have been devouring my way through Ms. Stone’s series/books for a while now, and can always count on her to deliver an engrossing read, and this series didn’t disappoint.
The books follow Amelia Storm, a military veteran turned FBI Special Agent, as she tackles dangerous cases that often hit close to home - especially after returning to her corrupt hometown of Chicago.
Amelia is the heart of the series. She’s smart, determined, and unafraid to push boundaries, but she’s also human, carrying the weight of past trauma and personal loss. That balance of toughness and vulnerability makes her feel real and very relatable.
The pacing is quick, the dialogue sharp, and the settings are vivid enough to pull you right into all the action. Each book works as its own mystery - but reading them in consecutive order lets you see not only Amelia’s growth but also the bigger story threads unfolding over the series.
If you like strong female leads, gritty investigations, and thrillers that mix action with emotional depth, then this series is the one for you.
Happy Reading…

Pack up your tent you may want to think twice about that camping trip. Talk about pure evil these twins have taken the cake. Narcissistic psychopath would be a compliment to these two. They are evil personified and have absolutely no ability to feel compassion for anyone else. For ten years they have been on a murder spree with no one able to knit together a case. They travel, kill, and resume their normal lives. This brother and sister are every parent's worst nightmare. They have no off switch, and they will scare you to death! This is a thrill ride, and you can't put the book down. One minute things look like they will work out, but it is hard to outsmart this kind of evil. Leave it to Storm and her new partner Dean to put the pieces together. This is a scary evil that you hope you never encounter!

Jeremy and his fiancee were camping at Lake Henrietta at a campsite when noises disturbed their sleep. The zipper was jammed when they tried to get out so Leslie used her pocket knife to cut the tent to get out. A maniac with a machete attacked them. They ran away together scared but somehow lost each other in the woods.

Searching and hoping to find Leslie and not the maniac with the machete, Jeremy heard and followed the sound of the river. Hoping he could find Leslie and avoid the machete bearing maniac. Little did he know the Machete man was not alone and the other black clad figure wasn't carrying a machete. Then she raised her weapon. Jeremy had found Leslie by the river but he also found the danger he was trying to avoid.

Read the Special Agent Amelia Storm Series. I believe you will love them as much as I have.

The Hunters become the Hunted

I am really glad to see Amelia and Zane are still together. Amelia is no longer working with Zane as she transferred to the Bureau’s Violent Crime Unit. Amelia’s first case with the unit sends her and her partner, Dean, to rural Illinois. Three bodies have been pulled from Lake Henry and their murders have Amelia and Dean rushing to find the killer or killers before they kill again. Will more people die before the killer is found? Is there a pattern to the kills?

Storm’s Target keeps you on edge hoping no one else will be killed. It is full of suspense, drama, horror, sadness, and has plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading through the night.

The ending leaves you wanting to know what will happen next. I found myself saying please do not harm Zane.

This is another great ARC from Mary Stone and her co writer. It grabs you from the start and keeps you going til the end. As usual, this not only tells you the story from Amelia's side but also the side of the killer. Amelia has moved to the Violent crime division of the FBI and is now called out for her second case. The Police around Lake Henry have found 3 bodies and two look like they were killed at the same time while the other looks to be older. As Amelia and her partner start their investigation, they realize that the are actually dealing with two killers and that they have been killing couples for a long time. Will the be able to find them before the kill again? Can they find enough clues to lead them to the killers? Sit back and enjoy the mystery.

New Department in the FBI for Amelia

Amelia's transfer to VCU unit of the FBI is complete. For her first case, she'll be partners with Dean. Since she had worked with Sherry and Dean before, this change over was much easier for her. Zane helps out with a little research before he starts on his own new case. As normal, the investigation starts out slowly with very few leads. Then the race is on to stop the brother and sister killing rampage. They've gotten away with it for more than 10 years, can Amelia and Dean find them and get them stopped? Silly question!!! Of course they do! But you will have your eyes peeled to keep reading until the very end. Next?

Amelia and Dean are tasked with a crime of two people dead. By the time they reach the scene the number is up to four.
Research on double murders brings interesting information to light. They discover there are over 30 cases that have virtually the same
murder weapons and markings left on the victims. When a teenager and her aunt decide to check out a camping park for a future stay things break loose real fast. This is another great read by Mary Stone

This terrifying thriller starts right on the first page and will keep you reading till the wee hours. Not one but two serial killers hunting people. This original plot is so real and scary, I don’t think I will ever go camping again. Amelia is again proving her ability to see and find the clues to the crime. I loved this exciting, so close to the real life murder thriller. Guess who is the center of the cliff hanger at the ?!! Bravo Mary. I’m glad Amelia is back in full force.

The authors have created two horribly depraved villains. Mary Stone and Amy Wilson have crafted a story that is as creepy as it gets. All the victims are tent camping. They are stalked and hunted then killed with a machete and crossbow. Add to that the victims are then scalped makes this story chilling and disturbing and of the “cannot put down” type of book. This original story makes your blood run cold. A MUST READ but does anyone one want to go camping now?

Camping Anyone?

A very well written page turner. Amazing what the most dangerous animals on earth can do to each other. Regardless of their wealth or lack of it humans can think up the most horrible use of their money and power toward their fellow humans! Storm and her case partner Dean are
kept busy untangling the faint clues in this mystery that makes you question if you will ever camp again.

What lurks in the woods? At what age does evil begin? These are a few of the questions Amelia and her team have to answer as they search for a killer who is hunting people for sport. People are dying in the forest at the rate of two at a time. On top of this, Zane, Amelia's ex-partner, is greatly at risk and doesn't even know that evil is slowly closing in. A good novel and great addition to the Amelia Storm series.

Humans are twisted.

This one kept me reading day & late into the night. Many in this series have.
The writing flows. The plot twists. The villains are evil, the crimes macabre. It has it all.
But... it fizzled out. It was like they got over it and thought meh, this'll do. The End.
I was wrapped up in it... but suddenly... it was all over. I feel let down. Hence 4 not 5 stars.

Murder in the Campgrounds

A young college couple were camping in an Illinois park when a machete came through the wall of their tent. Scared and confused in a new area they tried to run from the large man. Several days later their bodies were pulled from the lake near their campsite. Storm and her partner Dean Steelman approached the case to find it much larger than they thought.

In her new role with the Violent Crimes division, Amelia is taken to a very rural lake area in Illinois where she finds three bodies with something strange carved into their skulls. This leads to her finding more cases with the same rune.
I liked this new direction for Amelia and want to read more.

It’s not safe to go camping anymore. Someone(s) is targeting pairs of campers in isolated locations, killing them & carving a Celtic rune in their forehead, then dumping them in the lake. When Amelia and partner go to investigate the discover that the killers have been doing this for awhile. Now they must find them before they strike again

Storm's Target(Amelia Storm FBI Mystery Series Book 11)

I truly loved this book. It is crazy and sad to think what a sociopath could be capable of, and this book had two. I would hate to be camping and have a real life horror movie happen. The victims in this story had this happen. This is straight out of Stephen King's mind. I loved it.

I could not stop reading

I started this book happily as had been waiting on it to become on Kindle. Once I started, could not put it down until I read the last word. As with all of Mary Storm”s book, when I read them, I can I imagine what the characters and places look like. Highly recommended this and all of books.

Good police work

The serial killers are getting more deranged with each book in the series, but also, capturing them is more challenging. This was such an exciting book. No more camping for me! I like the new partnership with Dean and Amelia. They seem to click. This was a book that's hard to stop reading.

WOW, another brilliant ending.

I just love this series of books. The story line, the tension. There are times when I am holding my breath, quietly saying to myself run run. The characters are great. But it's the ending, the cliff hanger we are left with about Zane and I worry about him. Please don't let anything bad happen to him. Can't wait for the next book.
