I normally to not like abridged books or adaptations because they sometimes give the sense that one knows the whole story and therefore doesn't need to read the original. I feel this book is different. There was enough of the story to really engage my 6 & 8 years old while I read aloud. The illustrations were lovely and plentiful. I don't think there will have a problem reading or listening to the original when the time comes.

While reading "Everyday Graces" at the breakfast table we read an excerpt from the book Heidi. This led Jacob to go and get the Illustrated Classics version of Heidi that we hadn't read yet. The kids liked it and want to hear the unabridged version. I've ordered it on cd from the library. After we listed to the book then I will surprise the kids and let them watch the movie and compare all three.

I really love this book. It is easier for me to read and understand the story. Usually i don't understand much when i read the original and it kind off turn me off to read further. So i decided to read a simpler version and simpler usage of words (i'm not really good in English). So this book really help me and i love the story.
