The director of the Ashmolean Museum marks the 300-transition of the oldest museum in England to today s modern incarnation revealing a newly designed museum to open in November of 2009 with double the space, 39 new galleries and a new exhibition conce
quick and easy and to the point which is exactly what i need when i have to read an insane amount of stuff every single day!! i really liked the beginning as a brief overview of the history of the museum, i for one had no idea the ashmolean was the oldest museum in britain or that they had sone of the best collection of artefacts of cultures outside their own home countries (which probably has a problematic backstory). i also didn’t know about the michelangelo and raphael, however i think they r in the christchurch picture gallery now. the part about the layout of the museum was very fun and the way that the museum more or less forces interaction on a multinational scale rather than any piece of art being solely exhibited free from any other contexts.
the whistle stop tour of the art in the second half of the book was also very fun. i love images.
