Urn My Love

Rate this book
I was living my best life in the afterlife…
Until a klutzy phoenix flipped the laws of life and death on their head.

As the Queen of the Phoenix Afterlife, I was responsible for finding a way to fix the chaos the delightfully rebellious firebird had created between the world of the living and the… well, dead.

Working together, we found a way to send her back through the veil between our realms. Unfortunately, things went haywire as Ryls and her mate went through, and I ended up landing in the Earth realm too.

Now I’m in a world I was never meant to exist in.

And I’m afraid something else slipped through with us… I have to track it down before it unleashes the phoenix version of pandora’s box on the earth. And I have to do it before the veil between the two worlds becomes completely unstable and collapses.

I’ll need to generate a lot more power to accomplish either task. According to Amaryllis, what I needed to do first was find a mate… or mates.

I’d never expected to have mates, or love, so where on earth was I supposed to start looking?

Urn My Love is book one in the Just Walk It Off trilogy. It follows Iolani’s journey to find her three mates. There will be plenty of steam and humor. The series will eventually have a HEA.

This was definitely not my favorite book by the author. It felt a bit directionless and I honestly wasn’t invested in any of the characters.

This is my introduction to Sedona’s work and all I have to say is WOW! I’m addicted! Adding so many to my TBR now.

The creativity of this was so awesome. The FMC was powerful and I want to read so much more with her. I loved the why-choose aspect of this book because it really brought out some unexpected twists that made the story even better. The MMC’s are wonderful and I’m anxiously anticipating learning all about them.

I loved every aspect of this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an easy read or something in Fantasy that isn’t too heavy. This is technically a spin off of the “But did you die” series I believe. (Which was just added to my TBR!!!)

This was my first book from Sedona Ashe but it will NOT be my last! This was so enjoyable!

Iolani is a determined but also kind of hilarious FMC. She finds a mate in grump extraordinaire August, but her hopes are dashed when he rejects the bond. But does he keep that same energy throughout the rest of the book? You definitely want to read this to get the details!

On Iolani’s quest she rescues a beautiful Pegasus. Remember grumpy August and his whole rejecting the bond? No worries, because the Pegasus has a name - Jazriel- and it turns out he is ALSO Iolani’s mate. He’s hot, NOT grumpy, and hella funny! He’s also not afraid to let his attraction and affections for Iolani show. Does grumpy pants August get a front row seat to some smexual tension and activity? You definitely want to read this for those details!

All in all, this was a quick and easy to read book. As mentioned, this was my first book from this author so I hadn’t read the previous entry in the series. Do you need to read it to understand what’s going on? Not really, the general narration combined with conversations between characters helps to fill in any blanks. Do you want to read the previous book? I can only speak for myself ( the answer is YES), but I think it’s safe to say that you probably do, simply because this one was so enjoyable.

Great world building, pleasantly steamy scenes, funny banter, and a nice slow burn lay ahead for you in this one!

Sedona Ashe’s newest RH release is worth the read but don’t expect the same vibe as But Did You Die. The start feels a bit abrupt. I’ve read But did you die so I was able to get situated but unlike other books by Sedona, this had no real lead in. Lolani is the Queen of the Pheonix afterlife and needs to repair the veil between worlds and stop the evil Pheonix spirit that came through. Finding her mates will increase her power but she mostly wants the connection and affection of mates. Now as to the characters:

August: Griffin shifter and reticent mate, he clearly has damage that he doesn’t want to pass on. But he can’t help himself even slightly. He definitely seems like the muscle of the group despite how powerful Jazriel is. It was great when he finally came around. I do hope we get more of his background.

Jazriel: Pegasus, freed captive and mate. He just kind of settled in with her right away. He has Trevor vibes to me. Or he did until it was revealed that Xerces (XERCES!!!) is scared of the guy. I have got to know!

Iolani is the FMC and Queen of the Pheonix Afterlife. I admire that when rejected she refused to let it really affect her. She wasn’t going to cry or whine or anything which is similar to Ryls that way. She also has a confidence that Ryls only developed later in the books so it’s kind of fun to have that very equal footing dynamic between the MCs. Very curious about who her third mate is.

I’m very curious to know who her third mate is and what role he’s going to play. Also how the plot with Azurea unfolds obviously. I’m hopeful that there will be a few more funny moments and some more banter. I think that what I was missing from this book compared to But Did You Die and Dino Magic (my faves). I hope that we get more moments with Ryls and her guys.

This had all the workings to be a spectacular journey with action, world-building, spice, and a plethora of species. Unfortunately, what was given to readers was a confusing and lukewarm story.

The premise of the story was given to readers in bits and pieces throughout the storyline. Even though I understood what was happened I felt pushed into the world with no more than a scrap of context to start off with. The storyline felt unfinished from the get-go which made it difficult to immerse myself in the world, and caused more than one hole in the plot to emerge. The second-hand characters had little to no explanation, and while I understand not all answers should have been given it would have been helpful to have world-building that felt more completed than this.

The men felt very by-the-book, and I could already tell their personalities within the first few pages of meeting them. There was some character developmental as the story progressed but it was easily anticipated. I did appreciate how much of a spitfire Lolani was, and I truly think she singlehandly kept the storyline moving. The spice felt immature and robotic, and mostly skip-worthy. There was insta-love which is honestly something I’m almost never a fan of. It will definitely be interesting to see how the addition of her third mate changes the dynamic of the 3 of them.

I’m hopeful that book 2 may give us more than we got in the first novel.

Those who read the "But Did You Die" series before already met our fmc Iolani at the end of that series (and those who haven't read it yet; I highly suggest picking it up!). Even though she never expected to end up on earth, she definitely embraces the change in her life and it's lovely to watch her have a bunch of new experiences (especially of the spicy kind). I love how the author creates a blend between the feeling of the previous series and a bit of seriousness that fits better with our current fmc. As a result, this book ends up with a mix of humor, action, suspense, spice and maturity I really liked.

"Urn My Love" has some interesting paranormal characters and I love the relationship building between Iolani and the two men that are present in this first book. With this slow building harem, the connections between these characters get turned upside down a few times and that keeps it pretty interesting to read. I'm definitely a fan of Jazriel, and I can't wait to see what mate three will add to the growing family.

While it was definitely fun to have some characters of the previous series turn up again, I have to say the author created a spin-off series that manages to stand on its own as well with this book. I'm absolutely intrigued, and looking forward to book two!

Urn My Love (Just Walk It Off Book 1) ~

Urn My Love (Just Walk It Off Book 1) ~~ I both read and listened to Urn My Love, and this book hooked me almost immediately. It’s quirky, emotional, and surprisingly heartfelt in ways I didn’t expect. Sedona Ashe has a way of blending humor with deeper emotional themes, and this story is a perfect example of that balance done right.

Lolani is relatable, flawed, and trying to hold herself together after loss, while the MMC brings warmth, patience, and a steady presence that makes the romance feel earned. Their connection builds naturally, and I appreciated that it wasn’t rushed — the emotional growth mattered just as much as the romantic moments. There are funny moments that genuinely made me laugh, but also quiet, reflective scenes that hit harder than I anticipated.

The Audible narration elevated this story even more. The emotion came through clearly without being overdone, and the voices fit the characters beautifully. This is one of those books where listening made the feelings feel heavier in the best way. As always, switching between Kindle and Audible helped keep me grounded and sane when I’m not teaching.

This story reminded me that healing doesn’t look the same for everyone, and sometimes love shows up when you least expect it ~ even in the mess. It’s emotional without being depressing, hopeful without being unrealistic, and just really well done

I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself ~ you won’t regret it.

This is Book 1 of the Just Walk It Off series and is follows Iolanie’s quest to track down an evil that slipped through the portal.

Iolanie is the Queen of the Phoenix Afterlife and has found herself on Earth after helping another phoenix get home. What she learned is that something else came through the portal. Not only did she need to track down the evil and close the portal, but she also found her mate. The problem, he does not want a mate and tells her so; however, he does not want her going off on her own. To make matters worse, she finds out she has second mate, and her first mate decides he wants her and does not want to share.

Iolanie’s internal dialogue and the ways she planned on dying to get out of situations were hilarious. Her interactions with both mates were funny and hot at the same time. The smexy times between them are smoking hot.

So many times, dialogue can ruin a book and it does not matter if the plot is well written. In this case the dialogue enhanced the plot and brough the personalities of the characters to life.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I cannot wait until Book 2 is released. I fully intend to go and grab her other series.

WTH was that?

Rarely do I leave reviews if I didn’t like something but this book made me so mad. Mad at myself and my terrible inability to DNF a book.

From the word go you are treated to whiplash. You’ll be questioning if you accidentally started reading book 2 instead of book 1. You’ll meet an absolutely infuriating mate who rejects her but wants her but still rejects her multiple times.

Then all of a sudden, a horse comes into it.

You know those movies you watch and it’s just pure chaos, but you can’t look away. Nothing makes sense. And just when you think you may be getting somewhere - BOOM, wrong!

You’re treated to a woman who is supposed to be a queen and a strong warrior yet she dies multiple times, couldn’t defend herself against her fly and straight up is a pussy. Not attractive.

The second MMC instant love oh but wait he’s a darken mysterious has a background but you’ll never know because who even addresses stuff these days. The first MMC don’t even get me started on him.

Either way, if time is precious to you, don’t bother with this book. But if you have time to waste + enjoy your blood pressure rising, also love a weak FMC then yeah this is your book.

Seriously, anyone that gave this book above a 2 star rating - were you paid? Or do you smoke crack?

“Urn My Love” is the first book in Sedona Ashe’s Just Walk It Off series, which is a paranormal fantasy why choose? romance.

This was my first experience with Ashe’s writing style, and I have to admit that I thought the story started a little abruptly.

However, as I read more chapters, I started to become more invested in the plot, and I definitely enjoyed the banter between the characters.

The main character is a young woman named Iolani, and she’s the Queen of the Phoenix Afterlife.

Iolani was an interesting heroine because despite the fact that she’s this powerful phoenix queen, she’s also very innocent when it comes to certain situations.

Since this is a why choose? romance, Iolani has more than one mate. In this book, she discovers that she has two mates that she knows of: August the gryphon and Jazriel the Pegasus.

August and Jazriel have two very different and distinct personalities, but I thought they were both intriguing characters for different reasons.

To sum this up, I think this was a good way to start to a new series, and I will be reading the second book once it’s available so I can find out what happens next for Iolani and her mates.

Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: Female: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 Male: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

I found this book to be extremely enjoyable and entertaining! I’ve recently only come to be aware of Sedona Ashe but this has now been my 6th listen of something in her portfolio.. The first five were the prequel series to this book named But Did You Die?

While I expected this book to contain multiple deaths of the FMC, Iolani, since she’s a blue haired pheonix queen 👑 I wasn’t quite expecting the humor of the deaths since she wasn’t a klutz like the FMC of the other 🐦‍🔥 📚 that the author has written. I’m both happy and pleased with the realization. I’m also looking forward to the second book in the Just Walk It Off duology.

The Bordeauxs both gave excellent performances. They’ve both, especially him, come a long way from the first time I heard one of their duet narrations. I also noticed that their 🎤 setup seems to have been improved. Previously I’ve felt there was a volume imbalance to their performances.

Can’t believe it was on TBR for so long

I’m not a huge fan of spin off series, I have fallen for the original female main character so much that it takes A lot for me to fall in love with the original side character. Ryls had some screen time in this book but I think she lived up to her reputation.
I found that Iolani had a similar situation happen to her as it did to Ryls in her first book. A mate reject them. It didn’t happen over time, and with multiple saves including loss of her life but I’m glad Iolanis story had a different turn of events. I loved the play of emotions each point of view we read from the main characters. They all gelled really well, and there was a few times where my heart started to race from anxiety but it didn’t last long. I can’t wait for the next book!

I love this book I thought it was funny, sweet & cute in a good way. It Keeps you hooked from the very start. The only part I didn’t like It just ended suddenly I wasn’t read for the end, now I can’t wait for the next one.

Lolani, August and Jazerli the love triangle you didn’t know you needed tell now

August was my favourite character by far his inner turmoil to let her in and just be loved and to allows himself to love, did it for me, but at the same time he kept showing up for her and saving her time and time again, no matter how hard he tried to let go and walk away is something sure many can relate to.

I’m not saying I hate horses, but if he’s ever hit by a bus… I’ll be the one driving that bus … just another reason to love August

Wow! Sedona has done it again! I fell in love with her writing when I came across the Klutz series.

This story is a spin off of Klutz with a female lead who is confident and hilarious. Iolani is everything you want in a female lead.

If you love….

🔥 Why-Choose Romance
💫 Paranormal Fantasy

🌀 Clash of Realms
👑 Powerful Female Lead
🌟 Journey to Find Love

This is 100% the book to read!

I loved that I got to see glimpses of my favorite characters from Ryls story and got introduced to new ones.

I LOVE Jaz and August and the character development is on point.

The steam level is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Fun and Entertaining! I loved it!!

This was such a fun and entertaining read.
Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop.
The story is well written and the characters are easily identifiable which I think is important, especially in harems that build as time goes on (sometimes in why choose they can blend together, but that's not the case in this story).
There was so many laugh out loud moments and I loved it! Especially August.
Iolani is a great FMC, she strong and soft where it matters.
If you love reading paranormal fantasy fated mates with lots of steamy scenes, this book and this series is definitely going to be worth your while.

This is the first book by sedona I have read and I really liked it!

I really liked this book and can't wait for the next one!

I loved watching lolani adapt to what is being thrown at her and building relationships with the 2 of her mates she has met!

I can't wait to meet the 3rd mate and see how they will fit into her life!

I'm really excited for book 2 and can't wait to see more of Lolani, August and Jazriel! In the meantime I will definitely be reading more of sedonas books!

I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a why choose, paranormal romance with fated mates and a powerful fmc!

My first arc with this author, as well as my first book.

I really enjoyed it, I really did. But it was so short. :( I wanted more, I still more.

This is a why-choose romance that follows Iolani, the Queen of the Phoenix Afterlife, where she needs to find her mates and restore the balance between realms.

If you love this,

Sedona Never fails to disappoint with each book writes. She always manages to give us a creative and original plot, along with the perfect blend of spice and humor.
This book is just that!!

There was adventure, some tension and delicious spice, action and some lol moments.
Iolani was such a great FMC. I mean come on...she is a queen. She has such a big heart.
We are introduced to Jazriel and August. They are her mates. I love that the are both a different species or creature and how different their personalities are.
I cant wait to meet her third, in the next book!

Mythical creatures galore

Interconnected series to this book. The queen is in this world trying to recharge after her battle and ending up on earth. She meets her first mate who doesn’t want to mate but is always saving her. That griffin is stubborn. Then she saves her Pegasus. In the meantime she’s constantly attacked by various animals. She kinda reminds me of a klutz that way. No cliffhanger which was nice but knowing there’s another book is kinda nice without stress of a cliffhanger.

Great book!

I so loved this story. It may be on the short side and seemingly not well developed, but the world started in the But Did I Die series. I love Iolani and Jazriel and even August. I love Iolani's wonder at experiencing things for the first time. I love Jazriel's sense of humor and playful side. And I love how August tries to deny the bond. There are always those who do so and yet can't help but fall in the end, and I love those moments. Definitely recommend. I can't wait to read book two.

I was a little confused at first honestly, because she kept mentioning the main female lead from the Klutz books and I haven’t read those in forever so I’d recommend reading those first just to be safe. It was a really good read though. Iolani was super likeable. She’s strong and she’s pretty cool, and her mates? Girl got lucky. The book is funny and sweet in parts and kind of sad in others. It definitely ended sooner than I expected but it just made me want to read the next one.

Wow…

I haven’t read a lot of harem style books but I did enjoy this one. I loved the characters and the fantasy element that the plot revolves around.

I haven’t read a lot of Sedona’s other books so I did feel like there were some inside stories I didn’t have a reference for but I don’t feel like it drew away from the story.

It did feel like a sudden end to it but I do look forward to following the series along to see how the adventure ends.

Warning: this is a spin-off series of the But Did You Die series, and you definitely need to read that one first to understand the world, plot, and characters of this series. Urn my love jumps right into the action and is full of witty banter, paranormal creatures, and adventure! If you love a FMC who doesn't wait around be saved and goes after what she wants you will love this book so much and the preceeding series

Sedona's writing style is a breath of fresh air in such a stream lined society. As the sequel to her Klutz series, the first installment in the Walk It Off series is exactly what I expected: a fun story created with humour, smut, and a good paranormal plot. This is the beginning of another amazing ride and I can't wait to see where it takes me this time. I know I'll be giggling for the entire ride.

Brilliant and original plot
First RH paranormal for me and devoured this book
It was much shorted than I anticipated. And I feel like I've missed alot of information not knowing who it what or who. Was there a series I should have read before this regarding Ryls and to understand more? I'm sure there is but nothing was mentioned so I still feel kind of lost
Needless to say, I love this book and can't wait for the next edition!

This is an amazing book. The world building is beautifully down and well paced and doled out. The characters are flawed, powerful, bold, and such funny to behold. I love watching the interplay between all the different characters. The plot is something else. I love all the additional components that the author slowly adds to plot. It makes this a more complex read as you continue the journey and I so enjoy that. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

this was good…

I enjoyed this book, few irritations, though I didn’t like how her friend threw her under the bus sending extra clothes that were all see through 🤢 I liked the other character from the first series, the Phoenix, until she pulled a manipulative move. Friends think of their friend’s comfort, not sending ho clothes. Kind of soured the book for awhile. Nothing worse than a bad girlfriend.
