About the author

Teri Terry

Teri has lived in France, Canada, Australia and England at more addresses than she can count, acquiring three degrees, a selection of passports and a silly name along the way. Past careers have included scientist, lawyer, optometrist, and, in England, various jobs in schools, libraries and an audiobook charity. The footpaths and canal ways of the Buckinghamshire Chilterns where she now lives inspired much of the setting of Slated. She hates broccoli, likes cats, and has finally worked out what she wants to do when she grows up.

Slated is a young adult book series written by Teri Terry. The series follows the story of a teenage girl named Kyla who is living in a world where her memories are erased when she is "slated." Terry's writing style is fast-paced, and it keeps the audience engaged from the moment they begin reading the first book in the series to the very last page of the third one.

One of the things that make Slated such a compelling series is its character development. Kyla, the protagonist, is a complex character with a lot of depth. She's curious, intelligent, and fierce. As the series progresses, Terry allows Kyla to grow and change in a meaningful way. It's exciting to watch Kyla go from struggling to understand the world around her to become a leader and a force to be reckoned with.

The world-building in Slated is also impressive. Terry has created a dystopian world where the government has complete control over its citizens. The technology that is present in the books is both fascinating and terrifying. The fact that characters can have their memories erased is a chilling concept that is executed well throughout the series.

Another aspect that stands out is the themes presented throughout the series. Slated deals with heavy topics such as government control, surveillance, and conformity. Terry is skillful in weaving these themes into the story, creating a thought-provoking reading experience. The series raises important questions about who we are, who we want to be, and what happens when we allow others to control us.

Overall, Slated is an excellent young adult book series that captivates readers from the first page to the last. With its well-developed characters, detailed world-building, and thought-provoking themes, the series is a must-read for fans of the genre. Terry's writing style is engaging and fast-paced, making the books nearly impossible to put down.

For those who are looking for a thrilling and impactful read, Slated is definitely worth checking out.

Slight spoiler warning, though I do not really reveal anything that isn’t on the back of the books already.

The slated series is one of my favorites, and I have read it several times. The main character, aka Kyla, Rain, Lucy, or whatever her name is at the time, is always after one thing: to find out more about her past. In the first book, she is remembering things, things she should not be able to remember, and she sort of starts to become who she was before her memories were taken from her. In the second book, she is in constant danger, whether that be from the terrorist group she apparently was in before being slated, aka Free UK, or from the Lorders possibly finding out what she has been up to. And in the third book, she is finally free from her past problems, and is able to revisit her home town to learn more about her past. Throughout the entire story, she is always in some kind of danger, and that is part of why I love the book so much. Another thing that I love is watching her change a bit as more memories come back; each one changing her personality just the slightest bit.

So overall, this series is definitely one I’d recommend to my friends.

I read these books for the first time when I was in 6th grade. I LOVE these books, absolutely adore them. Very original and the plot is one of the best dystopian ones I've read. 10000/10
