With his new pencil case packed with a ruler, eraser and 12 colored pencils, Franklin is ready for his first day of school -- until it's time to board the bus. In this Franklin Classic Storybook, Franklin faces the excitement and fear of starting school.

Franklin Goes to School
My grandson Corbin is four and starts preschool next fall so I got him this book because he loves Franklin. We've read it twice in the last 15 minutes, .
This is a beneficial Franklin story for children starting school for the first time as we watch Franklin go from being excited to nervous to scared to finally happy!
I particularly enjoyed Mr Owl's character and how he helped Franklin adjust.
Franklin was going to school for the very first time. He woke up very early and felt like his tummy was "full of jumping frogs". Franklin's parents walked him to the bus stop and gave him a big hug. Franklin was worried...What if he wasn't smart enough to go to school? Who would be his teacher? Would he have any friends?
When Franklin got to school, his teacher discovered that he was a good artist. Franklin drew pictures, read a book and made a building of blocks. He had a wonderful day at school.
That evening Franklin gave his parents the two pictures he made at school and two big hugs!
I read this story to the students in my school library many, many times. It is a perfect story for the first week of school. All kids are a little nervous when they begin a new school year. This story demonstrates that it is OK to be nervous but school is a friendly place for learning and fun.
This book (and many others in the "Franklin Series") is now available in digital format on the Kindle. I read the book on my Kindle 3 and was very pleased with the formatting and the entire visual experience.
This is an entertaining and helpful story in the Franklin the Turtle series by Paulette Bourgeois. I'm not sure why we never really got into this series (after all, we love turtles!) Now our girls are getting a bit old for stories like this, so I'm not sure how many more we'll read.
I found this book available in an ebook version through our local library and I decided that I would read it, even if our girls weren't interested. Our girls were willing to let me read it to them, and even though it's probably best for preschoolers and rising kindergarteners, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they enjoyed the story as much as I did. I think it was a nostalgic read for our youngest, since she said she'd read this book several times at school.
The illustrations are cartoonish and colorful and the narrative is short and engaging. I will certainly look for more ebooks in this series, even if I have to read them on my own.
I loved the Franklin books growing up and I especially love this one. I think this book is very relatable for young students attending school for the first time because Franklin gets nervous for school. He wonders if he’s smart enough, if he’s going to like his teacher and his classroom, or if he is going to have any friends. These are all things that most students go through and think about on the first day of school. In a young elementary classroom I would read this to the students on the first day of school. I think it would help ease any worries the young students had and help break the “scary” and “new” barrier that sometimes exists in students’ heads about school. All of the class could have a discussion about what scares or worries them about school so that every student could see that they are all going through something. As a teacher, I would also share something I was worried about so that the students would see that I am human too. I think this small activity would help connect the classroom on the first day and would allow me, as the teacher, to learn a lot about my students in a short amount of time. I love the way this book is written because it is clearly written for kids. The internal turmoil Franklin faces is very true to how young kids process their thoughts and emotions. I connected with this book as a child because I was always scared before my first day of school. I would’ve loved to have my teacher share this book with me in a classroom.
Is your kitten nervous about going to school for the first time? Franklin Goes to School gives you the perfect opportunity to calm their worries as you follow along with Franklin's first day at school. Even outgoing kittens get nervous in new situations, and Franklin's experiences will help them to understand that it is perfectly natural to feel that way. Even though Franklin is a turtle and kittens are not turtles, the vibrant illustrations and Franklin's personality will draw young kitten readers right into his world. Like Franklin, they will soon be so caught up in their new experiences that they will forget they were nervous in the first place.
Książka pt. ,,Franklin idzie do szkoły” opowiada o chłopcu o imieniu Franklin.
Growing up, I adored the Franklin novels, and this particular one is my favorite. Because Franklin experiences anxiety before going to school, I believe this book will appeal greatly to young students starting school for the first time. He questions his intelligence, whether he will enjoy his teacher and his class, and whether he will make friends. On the first day of school, the majority of pupils experience and consider all of these things. I would use this to read this to my students on the first day of school.
I think this was a great read especially for younger students. I read it to a 4-year-old, and they absolutely loved it! The story begins with Franklin being nervous to go to school. He then gets on the bus and arrives at school. He makes a few new friends and does a fun activity. At the end of the story he gets home and tells his parents all about it. I really think it would be an awesome book for students who are starting their first year at school. It is a great read!
It's Franklin's first day of school and he has toads in his tummy. No, not really, but the nervousness of going to school for the first time is making him question his excitement to go. Will he make friends? Will he learn something new? Is there anything special he can already do? Franklin learns there is a lot about school to love.
A great and comforting read for our small ones that are going to start school. Franklin is very nervous about starting school, but as his first day of school goes along, he makes friends, finds confidence in doing his work and becomes comfortable with his teachers. The pictures are bright and fun! A very cute book about the insecurities that children feel when they start school.
I remember this book when I was a little girl I used to read them all the time. This book is about a turtle named franklin where he is very excited to start school but at the same time, he is full of fear.
The plot was easy to follow and the content was very relatable. Mr. Owl is the teacher we all hope to have. I highly recommend reading this book to a child before they start school, as it’s all about overcoming the first-day fear.
