I've started reading the first half to this book a few days ago and I've finished it a few minutes ago 09-14-09.
Here's my review on Are Men From Mars?
Entomologist- Dr. Madeline "Maddie" Morgan - Madam Butterfly, to her studensts is on a quest to find an endangered butter - "The Deva Skipper". She travels with her identical twin, Mary Beth to Roswell to prove this butterfly exists. They come to a government property; that's where the butterfly is. Out of all the places, the butterfly would be by a private government property.
Roswell's people are known for believing in aliens and UFOs. That's not something that Maddie believes in, but comes close to it, when a big object stops above her, as she is taking pictures of "The Deva Skipper". She starts taking pictures of it and before she knows it, she's being lifted up, into the object. To her surprise the men that are in the object aren't aliens, but men in green army clothing. The captain is Brad Hawkins. Of course, they become enemies on sight, because he doesn't believe who she says she is. He thinks that she's a spy.
Maddie is ordered to be taken to his quarters, until further notice and men are ordered to go find the other woman, but Mary Beth's driving skills cause her to escape.
Maddie finds out that Captain Brad's boss ordered him to keep her in hiding for three days and that her sister ran to the press and stated that she has been abducted by aliens.
What a mess!
I wish that the heroine stood alone, instead of being a follower. (If a person reads this book and wonder I mean by this, just ask and I can explain).
The heroine is a smart woman, but she doesn't walk in smart shoes in a certain way of thinking.
I felt that the story was rushed a little and the HEA was a little bit unbelievable.
The first story about Dr. Maddie Morgan and Capt. Brad Hawkings left me wanting for more. I think they deserve a novel of their own. Or maybe there IS a novel out there but I haven't found it yet? Anyway, I think this story plays on the common notion that cerebral women do go gaga over drool-worthy men. PhD's be damned when estrogens take over.
Mary Beth Morgan and Zack is another story. This time, the whole plot works for them and did not leave me hanging. The antics are hilarious and scary at the same time. This story also proved that I'm no diva like Mary Beth - if I were placed in her situation I think I would volunteer for the space station!
Having said these, still if you are looking for a good, light read this is a book for you. For women who don't find it insulting to read about women wanting to be wooed, this will be a fun break. For men looking for ideas, I dare you to follow what's inside!
This was a great Duet about twins who seem to get into trouble and create a media frenzy. One woman is an entomologist, but her sister is an actress who eats up the limelight. Both stories were funny and sexy, not too hot but just right. Great romance reads.
