2. Mousetronaut is a good twin text for Astronauts because it shows what an actual space mission can look like and what can happen. Astronauts explains the details about what astronauts do and how they train and what their job is like. When they have this background information the story in Mousetronaut puts it into a "real life" situation.
3. Text structure: Description and Chronological Sequence
It gives definitions and explains the job of astronauts beginning with their training, through the mission and to the landing back on Earth.
4. KWL: Before reading I would ask students what they know about astronauts. We would record that information on a KWL chart. After reviewing that list we could discuss what they would like to learn about astronauts. After reading the books we would talk about what we learned from the book. Students could also write about what they think it would be like to be an astronaut. What jobs would they have on the mission? How do they think it would feel without gravity? etc.
