Our story is written on crumpled pieces of paper with stains. Our story was tainted before it was written.
Just like any tragedy, Aria’s came unsuspected and unwelcomed. She’s spent a year wrapped in grief, residing under a permanent shadow while laying bright dreams to rest.
Now, returning to Crestside Beach, she carries the faint hope of starting anew. Friendships and places are exactly how she left them. An old life welcomes her with open arms, and time allows her to absorb the memories instead of condemn them.
But where there’s time, there’s change.
Eventually, an unexpected connection blossoms beneath the radar, and the shattered pieces of Aria’s heart begin to glue together. When the person she should’ve kept at arm’s length becomes the very one who’s rebuilding her soul, Aria’s forced to ask herself—
How many thorns are we willing to be pricked by to find the roses?
Drea has been a hopeless romantic for as long as she can remember. She became an avid romance reader in 2015 when the Fifty Shades of Grey craze broke out, and never looked back since.
Stories written by Jennifer Hartmann and Mia Sheridan are her absolute favorite, inspiring her to give writing a shot in 2022 when she settled down in her career. No, writing is not her full-time job, but a side project for now.
With the relentless support of her husband, Drea found a passion that's been buried for quite some time. Her only wish is to touch people the way romance books have impacted her. Full-circle moments, symbols, love that crawls through the trenches....give her all the high stakes.
But as emotional are her stories may be, Drea will never give up the spicy or smutty bits. NEVER. You'll always find an explosive slow burn in any book she writes.
Do you share the same tastes? We hope you'll follow along on this little journey that hopefully leads to bigger pastures.
I’m so excited I was accepted for this arc!! I read Fly Back To Me earlier last year and adored everything about it so I have high hopes for this one💗💗🫶🏼
"Hunt for the Roses" by Drea Scott is an angsty, slow-burning, small-town friends-to-lovers love-after-loss romance that I quite liked once it got going. It did take a little while for me to connect with the characters as the story is very dramatic at times, but I eventually got there. The FMC, Aria, must learn to love again after a tragedy involving her fiancé turns her world upside down. Her friend and next-door neighbor, Dane, who was also close with her fiancé, is willing to do whatever it takes to get Aria out of her shell a year after this tragedy took place. Slowly but surely, Aria begins to live again. She finds herself gradually falling in love with Dane, the last person she ever expected to love. Dane has a bit of a playboy reputation, but he eventually stops once he realizes he is falling for Aria, too. It's an uphill battle and quite a fight to get Dane and Aria together, to get them to confess their feelings for one another without guilt, grief, or pretense. There is a lot of angst and passion between the two of them as they go back and forth in a will-they-won't-they type of relationship that they keep from the rest of their mutual friend group for fear of judgment and pain. I did enjoy this aspect of the story as it kept me guessing and kept me wanting to know what would happen by the book's end. I hate to admit it, but I found some of the dialogue to be a little cringeworthy, almost part self-help book/part journal entry featuring a poem that I wrote when I was an overly emotional sixth-grader. This overly dramatic prose caused a little bit of a dragging pace here and there. I did find this book to be a bit long and repetitive, but the spice is good (if repetitive as well!), the emotions are high, and I did enjoy it for the most part.
Thank you to Drea Scott and Luna Literary for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
I loved this book! The author was kind enough to give me an ARC copy and I'm so happy that I have it, so I can reread it again in a few months.
I was surprised by the twist when Aria's boyfriend passes away (omg I was so sad) and the slow burn of her and Dane's story. They had so much chemistry and I thought their connection was conveyed perfectly. Also, I haven't read many books where the characters shouldn't be together but still are. I liked how Drea wrote this story; I could feel all of Aria's pain from her loss, as well as the difficulty to take the leap to be with Dane. Anyone can relate to this part because every single person has had to make a difficult decision with high stakes and big consequences involved. Often our heart and our head clash when making these choices.
I loved the whole concept of hunting for the roses when life gives you thorns. Even though there were many sad parts, I felt like it almost always took a positive outlook on things, causing me to feel a wave of gratitude while reading. Lastly, the colors of the roses and their meanings was sooo cute and creative. When Aria said Dane's eyes are green and later he realizes its because that means new beginnings my heart melted.
I'm so happy that Dane and Aria ended up together, and that in the end he learned not to compare her past love, but instead focus on the one they're building together. Comparison can be our worst enemy, and no two relationships will contain the same exact type of love. Dane's love for Aria made her feel free from her shackles and excited to turn the page to a new chapter of her life.

I devoured this book in basically one sitting. I went into Hunt for the Roses expecting a nice contemporary romance, but it completely consumed me and I could not put it down!
At its heart, this story is about grief, healing, and learning how to build a new future after losing the life you thought you were going to have. Aria is still carrying the weight of losing Kyle, the man she thought she expected to spend her life with. Dane, Kyle’s best friend, has always been in the background supporting her, and what begins as friendship slowly grows into something deeper
Their chemistry was one of my favorite parts of the book. The tension builds naturally, and when the relationship finally begins to shift, the emotional and physical connection between them feels very genuine
What I appreciated most is that the story doesn’t ignore the complicated emotions that come with their situation. There are moments where guilt, grief, and outside opinions force both characters to confront what this relationship really means, and those moments add a lot of emotional weight to the story
The ending was incredibly sweet and wrapped everything up in a way that felt satisfying and heartfelt
Overall, this is a beautiful story about healing after loss, finding love in unexpected places, and learning that moving forward doesn’t erase the past—it simply allows you to start a new chapter. I will be immediately ordering a physical copy 💕
Thank you so much to Luna Literary for the opportunity to read this ARC ❤️

This story was sweet and spicy. Aria and Dane experience a tragedy that brings them closer as they learn to relove and live again. It’s the forbidden the one person I shouldn’t want but so. Good girl falls for bad guy but he only has eyes for her love story we all adore! Definitely worth the read.
Wow! What an amazing debut novel. Thank you Drea Scott for giving me the chance to receive this ARC. This is such a beautifully written story about heartbreak, loss and finding love. The main characters had so much chemistry and honestly their love story was amazing! Although, there was some things that I did indeed find a tad annoying but I got over it. I don't want to spoil anything so that's all I'll say about it lol. I can't wait to read more by this author. Great read!
My heart is so full. What a whirlwind of emotions, heart break, and fighting for love. A relatable story on love after loss. And don’t forget the spice! Congratulations Drea on your debut!
I don't even remember how I ended up following this author, but I'm really, really happy that I got the chance to read her debut book 💙. Drea, you've built such an amazing story, a real rollercoaster of feelings which I loved from the bottom of my heart! 🥰
Aria and Kyle are a normal, happy couple, who had the most amazing friends: Kate, Trent and Dane. But life is never fair. On just a second everything can change and that's exactly what happens to Aria. She loses her love, Kyle, in a car accident. The grief is hard to overcome but Aria is trying her best to be better and, somehow, continue her life.
Considering Dane was leaving just across her house, her brother Ronnie asks him to keep an eye on her during the healing process. Aria and Dane are spending more time together and the chemistry between them is undeniable. But how should they follow their feelings when he is the best friend of her recently passed boyfriend? The challenge is real and brings many obstacles in their path to happiness.
I loved those sweet scenes between Aria and Dane, all those little details made me love them so much and live with them everything they had to face in order to fight for what they believed in.
It was a real pleasure reading the story of Aria and Dane. This book has everything I'm searching for in a good story: a rollercoaster of feelings, banter, friendship, spiciness, overcoming loss, getting to grow as a person. I recommend this book from the bottom of my heart! Tropes: forbidden love, close proximity, dual pov, good girl/playboy, healing in love, unlikely friendship to lovers.
The prologue had me interested and ready to sob at the idea of the grief she’d be dealing with after the loss…
But there was no world crumbling moment when “he” died. There was no holy shit rip my heart out don’t kill him off moment.
I also had a hard time with the fact the author would date the title “ie Saturday Feb X” and more often then not the first sentence “it was Saturday now”
some things felt very forced or over explained. Where other things felt underwhelming in contrast.
I understand the writers vision and idea but it just didn’t translate.
I also hate the concept of a man who goes from to woman so much in such a repetitively written way. It makes them instantly less likeable in my opinion. It’s one thing for people to discuss his many woman verses rewriting “the same scene, just with a different girl” over and over again.

I’m about to go on a slight rollercoaster but bear with me please, cause it will be alright. I promise.
I liked the book, I did. But it took me a while to get there. It’s probably because I’m old school when it comes to love and I wasn’t digging the trope too much. So it was hard to get through the first few chapters. BUT, as I continued to read the book, my heart began to soften up because I saw how Aria rose from the ashes. In HFTR, we see Aria’s world completely take a turn and as the story continues we watch her go through the motions and the hardship of moving forward and we get to witness the absolute beauty of healing after your world has been shattered.
I had a few favorite quotes from this book but I must say that my absolute favorite one was the one that was given to us a few pages in. “When life gives you thorns, hunt for the roses.”🥀
The only downside to this book is overdoing the outfit descriptions as well as little things that were irrelevant. It was too much and I’m not going to lie, it annoyed me quite a bit. Sometimes I wanted to skip it over, but I don’t like skipping over things so I just read through. The outfit description ONLY was relevant ONE time. ONE time and that was it. I had to google these dang Henley shirts cause they got engraved on my brain lol. Other than that, this book was a good read. Much love to you Drea! 💚
First I want to give a thank you to Drea Scott and Love Notes PR for giving me the opportunity to read this as an ARC! As I’m new to this whole book community, it was truly a pleasure to get chosen for this. With that said I was THRILLED to read this. I’ve followed Drea for a while and just knew this book was going to hit all the right things.
Tropes: - He falls first - Forbidden romance - Forced Proximity - Slow Burn
As you can see ALLLL the good tropes. Aria suffered a major loss in her life that completely rocked her world. We see each month after the tragedy and how she is coping. Not just that but we also get the main male characters POV, Dane. He is also suffering after this loss, so it was interesting to see how they each coped with things. I thought the mental health representation was PERFECT. As someone who has heavily studied mental health, I thought the light shed was just beautiful. I also felt that all the side characters played into the story wonderfully and added so much to the plot, which made it so enjoyable to read.
If you like everything I mentioned above and more, don’t forget to go out and buy “Hunt for the Roses” releasing on March 20th :))
I really enjoyed this book because it explored a topic that isn’t often written about with such depth. Throughout the story, I could truly feel the pain and grief Aria carried, and her concerns and emotions felt completely valid. 💔🌹
Dante was the perfect person for Aria. Their friendship made their connection feel natural and genuine. He didn’t see her as a conquest or as a way to fix his own pain, he truly saw her for who she was. In many ways, he understood the loss she carried and met her with compassion and gentleness 🤍
There was a bit of trauma bonding between the characters, but it never took away from the story. If anything, it added another emotional layer to their connection.
Overall, I genuinely loved this story. The writing flowed beautifully and made it easy to stay immersed in Aria and Dante’s pain and joy. 📚✨
Small Town Friends to Lovers Forced Proximity Slow Burn
Had an opportunity to read this book early and WOW! I’m not going to give too much away. But I was in all the feels with Dane and Aria! “lady in red” 😭 you’ll understand what that means when you deep dive into this book. This book is amazing because the lessons you learn in this book can be applied to everyday life.
Dane and Aria show resilience to situations that aren’t always the easiest to overcome but in the words of Dane “never stop fighting”. Love can truly overcome all obstacles when you have 2 forces that come together to push through. Looking forward to reading more from this author!
This was really beautiful 😭💖 love after a loss can be tricky and hard to accept! I love how this was navigated through the story! Also I love that Aria went to therapy! That she’s taking care of her mental health
The way Dane and Aria connected was beautiful and su understandable!! Their friendship and then relationship 😭🫶🏻
Now the spice 🙂↕️❤️🔥 10/10! So freaking good! The kitchen scene 😮💨
This is an amazing, emotional and beautiful story!!! Please do yourself a favor and read this book! 💚
I miss reading good romance books like this, and reading this book bought me waves of nostalgia for the memories that doesn’t exist. (Does that even make any sense?) That’s how beautiful this book was. Yes, Aria and Dane had so many flaws but flaws are what makes a person whole. So yeah, I’m already excited to read the author’s upcoming books!
I wasn't a fan of this. I could see how someone could love this book, but for me I just didn't feel it. It felt like it was missing something and I just didn't feel the romance. I didn't love the characters. The FMC kind of annoyed me a bit. I did like the emotion in this book and how it shows the destruction that grief can cause. This just wasn't the book for me.
I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC - such a touching story about love and grief. The main characters are well rounded and I deffo became attached to them. Not to mention 🌶️🌶️🌶️
"When life gives you thorns, hunt for the roses" - Anonymous. This quote will forever be my mantra now. No matter how tough life gets, how much heartbreak you have, it's worth fighting to get to the other side. Aria and Dane have to fight, but life and love are worth living for second chances.

ARC REVIEW I really enjoyed this book! The author managed to make me go through all the emotions thanks to her beautiful writing. Aria and Dane are friends first. A tragic event is about to happen and will affect them both. Dane will do anything to try to help Aria moving forward. He is willing to do ANYTHING to help this girl he loves so much. They start seeing each other in a new way and love gets in the way. They both try do deny their feelings because they shouldn’t be together. The loss of a loved one is a big part of this story. It's so well written that I felt like I went through so much pain just like them. Aria and Dane are so easy to love. I loved following their story and witnessing their reconstruction after the tragedy. This is the author's first novel and it is already available. I know you don’t want to miss it :)
I'm bad at reviews, but I felt inclined to leave one for this book! I really enjoyed the story of Aria and Dane. It was complex and tackled heavy themes of loss and coming back from it to find love again. I cared about all of the characters (which doesn't happen often!). The dialogue felt natural, and at times I could see the story play out like a movie in my head instead of reading words with how well the descriptions were done. This debut really blew me away! I highly recommend this for those who enjoy romance reads that cover tragedy & forbidden love.
I had the opportunity to read this an arc and I absolutely loved this book I couldn’t put it down and I loved the love story and the friends to lovers and if you like to read friends to lovers story then this book is for you I liked the character development and how they built their friendship to dating I give this book 5 stars
I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for Drea Scott "Hunt for the Roses" , as soon as you open the story there is two qoutes which leads you into the idea of what this story may be about.
Than you get to the prologue, first paragraph and it lure you in with the detailing of lose and love, if it wasn't for spoilers I would've screen shot most of page 1 just to show how beautifully pulled in I was.
I loved the way the petals were used to space out each chapter.
I do have one issue that I'm not sure if it's part of the pdf file I read or if it's a grammatical errors but there was some spacing issues with sentences. Such as a character would start speaking but there'd be a blank gap (as if the author hit enter one too many times) before the dialogue continued, again I'm not sure if that pdf formatting or a genuine issue. So, I won't hold that against the author.
Now excluding the formatting issues, I do have some things that didn't work for me.
At times some of the dialogue felt over thought rather than letting it feel natural. What I mean is, it felt like the author had planned the sentences rather than letting the characters words feel authentic.
When the "where is he..?" And "Aria's world shatters" moment happens, it feels a bit let down. I felt like nothing really built up to the moment, so it felt a bit jarring to read it especially when the next chapter changes prospective.
I can see what the author was doing with Blake but I felt like it was such a forced character that most scenes with him didn't flow naturally.
I like how the author knows how to balance between side characters and MC. Though there is times when it does feel like too many characters in one scene but the author knows when to keep the MCs in focus.
I think one thing the author could've definitely done without is describing the clothes the characters wear, sometimes it just feels like an overkill of words and it doesn't seem to flow naturally in the paragraph. Especially since when do men care to notice every detail of clothing?
I really struggled with Dane, I understand what the author was trying to do with him but towards the end, he started to come off as a self-entilted "she's mine and no one elses" type of man ans it felt like it ruined the build the author was trying to do.
As I got to page 182, first paragraph I got really confused. Is Aria kissing and tonguing herself? Like I get people can be flexible but kissing her own lips and licking her own skin? 🤔 maybe double check that before publish.
Unfortunately when I got closer to the end; roughly 100 pages (maybe 200 pages?) The story felt like it was just repeating itself and after reading similar paragraphs over and over, I was just praying for the story to hurry up and end.
I understand that this is about grief and finding love after grief but unfortunately at times the story felt like it was steering away from those themes.
Even though I struggled a bit with story, I'd like to give Drea Scott another go before deciding if their an author for me or not. I could see what they were trying to do with this story but like I mention, it rails away from it at times.

Where do I even begin my review of this book! It captured my heart from the very moment I was introduce to it, and I haven't been able to stop reading since. I want to rate this book so badly but five stars just doesn't feel enough for this work of art! This story encapsulated my heart making me feel an array of emotions, I was so enamoured by the characters that I stood no chance at falling in love with them!
Of all the books I've read in the past year, I don't think I've ever encountered such a book that brought tears to my eyes like this did. I was truly on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this. The way Drea was able to evoke such emotions in her writing had me at a lost for words. The way her characters grew throughout the duration of the story had me so happy I was crying! Like I just can't explain how much I enjoyed this story.
Who would've thought a forbidden romance could feel so good!? Aria and Dane developed a love for each that no one could contest because it was theirs to have. Even though they faced many obstacles until they got to their happy ending, one thing that they both didn't stop doing was fighting. Aria fought because she felt like she couldn't love again after losing Kyle, and Dane fought because Aria was the first woman he gave his whole heart to and he wants to keep regardless of the repercussions he could face for loving selfishly, he deserved this. They deserved this.
Dane brought Aria back to life, he gave her hope and a chance to fully love again. Their love is one that isn't written on fresh sheet of paper, it's crumpled with stains and all they have is each other.
Again I'm completely blown away by this story, as it was truly amazing! Literally everything about it was captivating, the emotions the characters displayed, the sweet moments they shared, and the overall spiciness of the book!🤗

I really enjoyed this debut novel. This book follows Aria and she is living her best life, she has a great group of friends, a boyfriend who she plans to marry and a job as a teacher that she loves. Aria's world is turned upside down when tragedy strikes and she is left to pick up the pieces. Dane is in Aria's friend group, the best friend to her boyfriend and her next door neighbor. The same tragedy that strikes Aria, also hits Dane.
Dane is there to help Aria pick up the pieces, he looks out for her and becomes a good friend to her. But the more time they spend together, the more they start to develop feelings for each other. And with those feelings, come a lot of other complicated entanglements.
What I liked about his book: *I really loved Aria's character. I loved how she tried to find the light and the hope after such crushing loss. Even though she had her moments, she largely tried to find the light. *Dane was really sweet toward Aria and was a really good friend to her. Once he started having feelings for her and they acted on them, he really pulled out all the romance. *The angst! So. Much. Angst. *The spice! Dane and Aria are explosive together. The chemistry is off the charts *The friend group and other side characters were another excellent part of this book. I think those relationships really added to the story.
There is only one thing that I would change in the story, there are a lot of descriptions of outfits that I don't think needed to be in the story. Many of them did not add to the story.
Overall, this is a good book about loss and friendship and finding love again. There is a lot of hope in Aria's story
This is such a beautiful story about unexpected love finding its way into your life after loss. It’s a book about grief, friendship, trusting yourself, and learning how to truly live again. One line that really stuck with me was: “When life gives you thorns, hunt for the roses.”
This story is just as heartwarming as it is heart-wrenching.
Aria and Dane’s journey shows that life and relationships aren’t always black and white. Grief itself is complex, it ebbs and flows with time, sometimes when you least expect it. I loved how the story embraced that reality instead of trying to simplify it.
This is one of the most real stories I’ve read in a long time. It shows how messy life can be and how there isn’t always a clear right or wrong answer. Sometimes you just have to live through it. Feelings can appear unexpectedly, and you can’t always prepare for them. The real question becomes whether you allow yourself to move forward or let fear hold you back.
Another theme I appreciated was the reminder that people may not always understand your choices. At the end of the day, it’s your life, and your decisions affect you more than anyone else. Following your heart, even when others might question it, can be the bravest thing you do.
I felt all the emotions while reading this. The ending was satisfying and meaningful. There were moments where the main characters repeated similar conversations, which occasionally frustrated me, but at the same time that kind of circular discussion happens in real life, especially when grief and complicated emotions are involved. In a way, it added to the realism of the story.
Overall, this was an emotional, thoughtful read that really stayed with me.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Hunt for the Roses, so thank you to Drea Scott and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read and review.
This story follows two friends, Aria and Dean, in a “love after loss” slow burn romance. The premise immediately intrigued me and the prologue especially pulled me in. It was beautifully written with a lot of emotion, depth and intrigue.
Unfortunately, once the story moved past the prologue, the emotional weight I expected from the premise didn’t fully carry through. Aria is dealing with a tremendous loss and while everyone processes grief differently, I found myself wanting more insight into her emotions. At times she came across as a bit petulant or immature, which felt more like a result of the emotional groundwork not being fully developed.
Where the book really worked for me was Dean. I thought the author did a great job conveying his guilt, apprehension and the careful way he navigated his growing feelings for Aria while carrying his own emotional baggage. In many ways, he became the emotional anchor of the story for me and a strong reason for my rating.
As far as the relationship goes, this is definitely a slow burn but I found myself wanting more relationship development. They spent many times in bars with friends, drinking, dancing etc. but it was the quieter moments like the scenes at the dock, in the garden, and their deeper conversations, where the story really shined. I would have loved more of those.
Overall, it’s a quick, easy read with a good pace and a solid cast of side characters. The author does a good job with the friend dynamics and the book is a good length. While this book didn’t fully work for me, I appreciated Dean’s growth and was happy to see him and Aria get their HEA.
In the eloquent pages of "Hunt For The Roses," penned by the brilliant hand of Drea Scott, a mural of prose unfolds, akin to a symphony composed upon crumpled parchment adorned with the complex stains of life's trials. Aria Tate, our protagonist, serves as a vessel through which the unforeseen tragedies of existence manifest, unfurling an unscripted narrative that transcends the bounds of the perfect moment, and unfolds in a tableau where preparedness remains but an elusive mirage. . The narrative's heart pulses with the emergence of an unforeseen companionship, a fragile bloom amidst the chasms of Aria's desolation. Scott masterfully navigates the intricacies of trust, vulnerability, and human connection, fostering an authentic portrayal that tugs at the heartstrings. Amidst life's darkest crevices, Scott illuminates the transformative power of camaraderie, illustrating that from the fragments of shattered existence, the bonds of kinship possess the alchemical potential to mend even the most fractured of hearts. . Central to the narrative lies a contemplative inquiry: "How many thorns are we willing to endure, that we might finally uncover the elusive roses?" This thought-provoking question, skillfully woven by Scott, serves as a leitmotif that resonates deeply, inviting readers to introspect upon their own journey along life's rugged paths, as they strive to unearth moments of resplendent beauty amidst the adversities that beset them. This was an emotional book that I would highly recommend to every reader, Drea has written a 5/5 read that I look forward to read more from her fascinating lyrical prose!
Firstly I want to thank Drea for sending me an arc of this book. I am so grateful you let me read your baby🫶🏻
Now for the book..
I’m giving it 3.75. And that’s not a bad review for me! 3.75 is good and I’d still recommend this book! But let me explain my thought process.
This book is about loss and grief. And i truly was enraptured by the story up until we got towards the end and it almost felt dragged out. Like it could’ve ended a lot sooner. And Danes character🤦🏼♀️ some of the things that came out of this man’s mouth made my body close up & physically cringe🤣 there were also times where I feel like a conversation was really needed but instead they’d go to the boom boom room instead😅 but truly my main thing was it being dragged out!
I loved how descriptive Drea was! It was so easy to picture scenes and that is a biiiig thing for me as a reader! I need to see what’s going on.
The chemistry between Dane & Aria🤌🏼 the Ferris wheel scene honestly had me smiling so hard. It was such a cute scene. I truly didn’t think I was going to like them together because they were SO different but I think they fell together so nicely.
Overall, the moral of the story, was really touching. I’m not going to lie, the beginning had me in tears. I lost a very good friend of mine a few years ago and his funeral was on my 21st birthday so it touched me personally. It was devastating to see the pain that she went through for so long.
Overall, Drea I hope you are so proud of yourself! Such a great debut novel and I’m excited to see your future work🥰
Let me just tell you ahead of time- this book will have you crying and laughing all the way through. The emotional pull between Dane and Aria, their bantering, his tenderness in her grief, and just the all-around friendship they share is top tier 🤌
𝘼𝙧𝙞𝙖 is a funny, outgoing, beautiful woman who one second had the most perfect life all for it to be flipped upside down. After a tragedy rocks Aria and her friends' lives, she doesn't know how she will possibly move forward. Slowly, over time, she finds her way towards the light again, and she has one person to thank for that, Dane.
𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙚 is a cocky playboy who has no intentions of settling down any time soon. He enjoys his women and no strings attached. That is until he is tasked to keep an eye out for his friend, Aria, during her grieving process.
What starts out a friendship, Aria and Dane slip into a more comfortable relationship around each other as the summer goes on. Not only does Dane start to see Aria in a different light, but that nagging dreaded feeling in his gut is telling him this is all wrong. He can't think of her in that way.
🌹 love after loss 🌹 forbidden romance 🌹 dual pov 🌹 small town 🌹 friends to lovers 🌹 slow burn
💚Author note: “This story is for all those who have lost. Know that the transformative power of love exists. xo Drea”💚
This book brought out all the feels! Aria and Dane’s journey back to life and finding love after a devastating loss is raw and emotional and believable. Drea provides all the descriptions and details to make you feel like you are right there with them.
💚“Because our story isn’t written on crisp, white paper. No. Our story was written on crumpled pieces of paper with stains. Our story was tainted before it was written.”💚
Aria is the perfect combo of sweet but fierce. And Dane’s patience and playful good-guy nature is swoon worthy! The strength and passion of both main characters is admirable. And their chemistry…hot and spicy!!
💚“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than right here on the hood of Dane’s car with an umbrella of stars above us.”💚
This story broke my heart and then slowly put the pieces back together filling me hope and encouragement.
💚“Life may deal us some really shitty hands and throw a few punches, but no one ever said we had to stand defenseless on the other side.”💚
I’m very thankful to Drea Scott for the opportunity to arc read her debut novel. I can’t wait to watch her grow and flourish as an author!
