Working with the Law

Rate this book
Students, for many years, have come to this school asking for a better understanding of God, and desiring knowledge of the best way to get the most out of life. They have heard God spoken of as being afar off, when He is as close to us as the breath we breathe, closer than our hands and feet. They have heard Him spoken of as: Love, Divine Mind, Divine Intelligence, God, Lord, First Cause, Primal Substance, and other names. Being of an analytical mind, I, too, have wanted to know the facts of a Truth. If it is a Truth, these are facts to be had, and they can prove themselves, not alone in Spirit but in a very practical way. It is my intention to present these lessons simply, without high-minded words or vague statements that sound pretty and promising. The terms above named are all synonymous. They mean one and the same thing, and I choose to use a simpler name that everyone will understand. I shall call God working in our lives "LAW." Interpreting the Law in several ways should bring it more clearly into our way of thinking. Then as we strive to work with the Law we are living closer to God, and such living brings a better understanding. Dr. Raymond Holliwell had a highly logical mind and was an inspired teacher who employed a clear, specific approach to life and the laws that govern it.

I will probably say this is one of the best books I've read in a very very long time. I would categorize it with "As a man thinketh" and "The Science of Getting Rich". It's a short easy read with practical teachings of the law. I took my time reading this because it's something you need to digest and not rush through. The principles have Christian roots in it but I believe that any person with a different religion would find it relatable. This is going to be added into my daily blitz rereads because repetition is the mother of learning.

A wonderful book for anyone seeking some guidance to the big questions to life. I found it easy to understand, and very inspiring. The chapters were short and easy to read, despite the material being large and deep. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to reach their spirituality and increase their learning.

Overall, a good book. Condensed version of various perspectives and well structured. Some specific insights are said here in a way I haven't heard before. Quick read and I recommend.

The writing is a bit convoluted, but the ideas are gems. I will return to this book again and again. I will dare to say it is life changing.

While I understand the premise of Raymond Holliwell’s work - every action has a reaction, therefore all our thoughts cause changes to the universe and through these thoughts we can change our away of life - his movement towards religion and (in my opinion) his over reliance on the power of positive thinking (my words) felt too much like what I’ve heard of The Secret. While I understand the theory behind positive thinking, I have trouble making the leap towards positive thinking creating positive goals. While I don’t fault anyone for taking Holliwell’s recommendations, I just disagree with them and didn’t find the book to be a draw.
