This is the story of making a garden showpiece in Victoria, Australia. Brought up in WA the book is a diary of a year at the gardens but interspersed with memories of his growing up in Agricultural WA and the stories of his parents and their lives. In particular his parent's love story is fascinating.
This is a beautiful story on all levels and the occasional pieces of Homer and Shakespeare only add to the appreciation of the natural world.
