Fire in Paradise

Most of us moved to the wide-open spaces because we loved the clear skies and open meadows, the citrus groves and the giant granite boulders scattered all over the hills. Out in the country, there are no streetlights to obscure the velvet black sky at night. The stars twinkle. Those of us who have known tall buildings and perpetual illumination twenty-four-seven have lost touch with the constellations and the phases of the moon and the Milky Way and could not find Polaris on a bet. Big sunsets matched by spectacular sunrises and long walks down a deserted road with the dog off the leash become an enviable way of life.- From the Introduction

So this was a good book telling some of the behind stories of the Paradise fire here in Southern,Ca where I live..back in 2003 this along with several others fires destroyed lots of property and killed at least 2 in that little town but there was many more thru out California..It was interesting to read from these people prespective and to learn how a community came together to help one another out thru those rough times as well as the world around them alot of good people help with finacees and food,clothing and many other things..
