A myriad of emotions straight from the heart through the medium of ink. Endless thoughts woven into verses delving into experiences with intensity and gentleness conveying perspective lyrically. A journey of becoming a poet and understanding the nuances of poetry writing. Unspoken verses on experiences of a poet by choice in short as well as long forms of poetry.
This is a mini, dreamy poetry collection of 24 poems that is contemporary in its verse structuring yet nostalgic in its subject.
The range of feelings while reading these poems one may experience is varied and wide — from cuteness to thought-provoking to emotional to even being philosophical. Is it intentional or not, I don't have an answer. However, it's surprisingly new, fresh and fulfilling.
Fittingly, the beginning title of the poem is 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔹𝕒𝕣𝕣𝕖𝕟 ℙ𝕒𝕘𝕖. A blank page to ink down one's deep feelings in all its varied forms and combinations. The poetess does her best to arrest her reader's attention from the start.
Every, almost each, poem has a touch of nature (elements) blended in, heightening the emotional angle and vivid imagination, a true symbol and essence for capturing the poetic nuance.
One of my favourite poems 𝕆𝕦𝕥𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕎𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕠𝕨 is full of positivity, opportunity, and hope for a better future in the outside world. Similarly, 𝔻𝕚𝕒𝕞𝕠𝕟𝕕 is a motivating poem piece.
The poetess love for colours and shades is prevalent through ℍ𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕫𝕠𝕟, where she paints her words literally in all her natural glory.
Some poems delve into the pain and longing of lost love, unaccomplished dreams, and missed opportunities.
In 𝔸𝕣𝕖 𝕎𝕖 𝔸𝕨𝕒𝕣𝕖, Ms Venkateswaran compares one's heart to two extreme spectrums — garden and graveyard. One can feel the agony and seething anger as she questions us.
In 𝕊𝕦𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕨𝕠𝕞𝕒𝕟: 𝔸 𝕄𝕪𝕥𝕙, the narrator says 'we aren't superwomen', and blames the society rightfully for its inability look after women of the family.
Love poem in the form of ℙ𝕖𝕥𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕙𝕠𝕣 is about deep longing and lost chances of youth and reminiscing the leftover romantic wounds, which is caustic yet cherishable.
My other personal loved poems include 𝕊𝕙𝕒𝕕𝕠𝕨𝕤, which is dark yet assuring; 𝕊𝕠𝕦𝕝 𝕄𝕒𝕥𝕖, platonic love poem with emotive embellishment; ℙ𝕒𝕡𝕖𝕣 𝔹𝕠𝕒𝕥, which is relatable and close to my heart cute nostalgic poem on rains, puddles, and monsoon; and 𝔻𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝔻𝕚𝕒𝕣𝕪, which fills the feelings, secrets, dreams, and mirrors oneself as year's pass.
These poems will stay with me for long as I enjoyed and experienced newfound me in it for most of the part. A definite recommendation for a weekend read.
☕☕🍰Two cappuccinos and ‘A Slice Of Reverie’ please...😊
Aptly titled, this is a book of soulful poetry 😇with a pretty 😍 and dreamy cover to match. The poems inside inspire the reader to take the time to be in the moment and notice the workings of nature -the flowers🪻, butterflies, the rain, the sun, birds and the trees- from whom we learn much about our human existence as well. The poet creates a vivid picture 🖼️ with her words to make the scene come live right in front of your eyes. The poems are variedly themed and beautifully👌 titled-which any poet can attest is a very difficult thing to do. There is use of good vocabulary. ✍️Sharing a few lines I highlighted for myself, to give you a little teaser and to inspire you to read the complete book:
🪻Watching the kaleidoscope creation The stars blossoming through The palette of scattered clouds This masterpiece, the same time tomorrow
🪻The touch I felt in every beam It trailed down my spine like buds They are meant to grow as flowers inside me The season changes much like me
🪻And that's when we become aware And muse over whether Our heart has become a garden or a graveyard?
🪻Diamonds are forever We all are destined to be them So are our souls Etched with perfection As clear and pure as diamonds
🪻Tenderness in those memories Which I will preserve As proof that you did once care.
🪻Popsicle in the freezer Where a few extra pounds are welcome ...Where you don't have to be perfect
🪻Rotting in our own guilt Of being deficient. Making it a habit to fail and bear it on our souls
