Nova : Part One: Journey to the Center of the Desert

Rate this book
In the country of Abrine, heroes are just another part of everyday life. Living under the umbrella of the Hero Corps, Theodore Levy thinks being a hero is the greatest honor there is. With the power of Teleportation and a mind for puzzles, he is one of the most powerful Talents in his city. However, his world is turned upside down when he meets a wild Lucran native who believes heroes deserve to be knocked down a few pegs.
Elaine Harper, a teacher with the Talent to bend energy at will, leaves Ted reeling after their first meeting. Until monsters start to attack the city of Port Knoll, a coastal town that houses over 30 percent of Abrine's citizens. The two embark on a journey, following clues that lead them to the center of the Abrinesian desert. Together, they trek across the country, fight monsters, and find love as they slowly begin uncovering secrets that the Hero Corps hides in its darkest corners.

I LOVE this book. You don't even know. I cannot properly talk about how much I love this book. The fighting scenes are done SO well that I could see it in my head, along with everything else. The perfect amount of description where you can see and feel everything but not too much where it is overplayed and just a bunch of prose. This is an amazing debut book. I am hungry for more of Elaine and Ted's story. My only complaint is that I didn't get enough of Olive because I ADORE her. So not even a real complaint. I'm frothing at the mouth for the sequel. The chapter tease for the next book has me DYING. 12/10. I highly recommend this to everyone. Also, Ted and Elaine??? MY FUCKING HEART. So cute. I am dying. I died dead. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ AND BUY THIS BOOK. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not.
