This book is for anyone who wishes to live and eat without feeling burdened by the body, including those who have ever purged after eating too much because they couldn t manage safe boundaries around consumption. This is for anyone who wants to understand why, despite finding success in other areas of life, they still wind up feeling powerless around food. And it s for those who wake up morning after morning and ask themselves, despairingly, Why did I let myself do that again? Have you noticed that two major facets of our society, food and physical attractiveness, are unavoidably interdependent? Yet, in our culture, they betray each other constantly. I put this material together in honor of those of you who have spent your lifeblood - your thoughts, your emotions, your energy, your efforts, your resources, and your time - wrestling with the conundrum of food and body image in our culture. Part nurturer, part enemy, food has been a source of great puzzlement for you. Emotional eating and poor body image have cast a dark shadow over your life for too long. I hope that this book will help release you from the social myths and toxic behaviors that have robbed joy, health, and freedom from the fabric of your life experience. It is my sincerest wish that you gain clarity and freedom from this conundrum once and for all! You are my sisters and my brothers, and I love you! Natalia
I love this holistic approach to emotional eating. Natalia says that we are all emotional eaters to some degree, otherwise we would just be eating the simplest foods.
All books by Natalia Rose are worth checking out, and this one is no exception.
She believes that our eating challenges can not be seen an individual problem, rather, it is the consequense of an imbalanced world.
Read, and feel relief if you have been annoyed at your self for being an «emotional eater»
Brilliant. Finishing reading, but haven't yet delved into all the exercises. I'm a big fan of Natalia's other works, and this REALLY helped bring everything together so that all the information just finally clicked. I've been eating mostly whole foods for years, but still struggled immensely with eating to the point of discomfort, either to distract myself from negative sensations or to unconsciously join in with my mom's suffering (she has ME/CFS and feels miserable most of the time). I decided to read this book while I did Kimberly Snyder's 30-day meal plan. With the meal plan, portions and menus are already decided upon, so I can't overeat, and my body is learning what it feels like to not binge. While I experience that physical shift, my mind and heart are shifting as I read Natalia's insights. I'm learning SO much and, although I'm only 2 weeks in, it has been a tremendously healing process. I am very excited to continue forward down this new trajectory. Highly recommended.
This is one of the best books I've read on any subject, combining brilliant insights into the precarious state of our civilization and what we must do internally if we wish to survive and thrive in this uncertain future. It's about so much more than what we might ordinarily conceptualize as "emotional eating". This book goes beyond food talk and provides a blueprint for a new mode of nourishment, not just for an inwardly-focused self, but for a self capable of promoting collective transformation. Amazing!
