Shaun was always a child who demanded more than life could give. His mother's struggle began when she became a single parent, leaving her abusive husband behind. Unable to cope without the family unit, Shaun turns to a life of crime and drugs and eventually ends up in the care system. Karen Woods' fourth novel sees her return to familiar territory to craft an indictment of modern society that will pull on your heartstrings.
I will see every drug user in a different light now, couldn't put this book down and I cried buckets!!! A very hard hitting story but one i really did enjoy, I don't think anyone will be disappointed with this read, this is my third book I've read by Karen woods and I will definitely be ordering another!!
Like every book of Karen Woods (3 so far that I've read) this book is deeply emotional. She has a way of making her characters so very believable. This book explains so much. You want to know what it's like to be an addict? Or the parent of an addict? Read it. It'll leave you chilled to the core.
Every page was a heart breaking read ,this book has reminded me that yes they weren't always an addict, feel so thankfull this hasn't happened to any of my sons,
I didn't like this book at all. Terribly depressing and left me in a very low mood for some days. Don't recommend this book at all. The only positive is that the author finally found a good editor that could proof read and there were far less spelling/grammar errors than in her previous two books....
