Setting Reasonable Boundaries in All Aspects of Life
I have read a fair number of books about setting boundaries, learning to say no, and understanding how to negotiate to fulfill your needs when someone is pushing back hard against you. This particular audiobook didn't really cover any new ground, but I appreciate it anyway. Early on, it made a bold statement about not giving in to your partner’s desires in an intimate relationship if you do not want what they want. For some reason, the way the author stated this really resonated with me and gave me pause to re-examine my failed relationship with my ex-husband and gave me clarity on some of what our problems were. For that, I appreciate what this book has to say, even though most of what it says is very familiar if you've read any books about setting boundaries or saying no. I like how the book discussed how to stand up for yourself in an assertive but not aggressive way to family, friends, and those at work.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
This author does a really good job walking through different boundary types and what is a healthy boundary. Sometimes it is hard for people to understand when they have not set a healthy boundary. This book describes things to look for in a logical and straight forward meaning.
What is nice about this book it does not read like a book that just hit the high points but it pushes you to dig a little deeper. Overall, if you are struggling with boundaries or need to do some confirmation of boundaries then jump inro this book.
Helpful book on boundaries with easy to apply ideas. I especially appreciated the focus on childhood trauma, and how it affects our need to set for ourselves as well as respect to the boundaries of others.
Nothing you can’t find in other books on boundaries, but this one is still a great read
