Cassutt, Michael. Dragon Season. Tor, 1991.
Michael Cassutt has worn several hats. He is a regular contributor to science fiction magazines like Asimov’s and Fantasy and Science Fiction. He has been a screenwriter, television producer, faculty member at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, novelist, biographer, and spaceflight historian. Dragon Season blends near-future science fiction and alternate-Earth fantasy in which an Air Force officer returning to Tucson from a long assignment in Guam finds that his former girlfriend has been kidnapped. She has left him a three-week-old son that he did not know about. His efforts to get her back lead him to a realm with dragons and some cross-universe covert trade in nukes. 3.5 stars.
